Auf einer Landzunge zwischen der Maas und einer neu angelegten Hochwasserrinne/graben (hoogwatergeul). Nach dem verheerenden Hochwasser 1993/1995 wurden überall an der Maas Projekte zum besseren Hochwasserschutz angestoßen. Zwischen Well und Aijen entsteht nun allmählich der sogenannte Maaspark Well, wodurch der Hochwasserschutz und die Erholungsqualität in diesem Landstrich - auch in Verbindung mit dem Nationaal Park De Maasduinen - verbessert werden soll. Es wird noch einige Jahre dauern, bis alle Maßnahmen abgeschlossen sind und dann hoffentlich so wirken, wie man es sich vorgestellt hat.

Well, here it is, the final model: the origami Puffer Fish.
He was so kind to come out of the water for the photoshoot, lucky me ;-))
The Tongue, you saw yesterday (or see photo first comment box) is a look on the inside, or the not completely finished fish was laying on his back, so to speak. :-))
I folded it from just one sheet gold/red kaftpapier (70x70cm). Final size: length 22cm, width 14cm, height 9cm.

We shot Thor's Well about an hour or more after high tide. We stood on a long ridge of rock. Thor's Well is an amazing hole in the basalt. Water bubbles up from below and waves flow down from the top. The well is about 20 feet wide and 20 feet deep. It is not wise to get too close to the well. A man fell in and drowned recently and others have died in the past. We stayed back. It's tempting to go closer on the right. But that's where one can get into trouble.
Coraline likes to explore the secret water well. She drops a stone down the well to hear it hit the bottom. She wonders how deep it is.
The scissor arches were built in the mid 14th Century as a solution to a very real problem, the tower, which sits above, was showing signs of cracking so these beautiful arches were added to give extra support. It is hard to believe they weren’t part of the original design.

Sinking into oblivion, a well used old barn can't even be used for storage any more. There are no lanes or pathways that reveal someone still checks in on it. As we age, it is inevitable that we come to a stage when we realize life is nearing an end and there is no remedy. At this point, we smother our kids and grandchildren in love yet our horizon now stretches out toward eternity.

Niko had a wonderful tree house at the end of our garden, but Hurricane Milton destroyed it. So he built this new one and just added the new seat in the second photograph. He is quite innovative and talented and loves to find new things to make.

The Market Place in England's smallest cathedral city, Wells (pop. 12,000) in the county of Somerset. A golden October afternoon shows off the honey-coloured ashlar particularly well.
The two towers in the foreground date to Bishop Bekynton's "New Works" improvements to the cathedral precincts in 1450-1, as is the building immediately to the left of the "Bishop's Eye", the tallest of the towers. The building housing "London House" (16 Market Place) is a little newer, dating to the 16th Century, and with
considerable additions and alterations in the early 17th Century and an early 20th Century refronting.
The shops on the left are also from Bishop Benkyton's mid-15th Century works, although they were renovated in the 19th Century.
The South Tower of Wells Cathedral is visible poking above the rooftops.
