Meet one of five owlets in a wild Great Horned Owl family raised on Saanich Peninsula private property.
This little one fell out of the nest way too early and needed a bit of help. Our local raptor rescuers strung up a basket in a tree next to the nest tree; the nest being too far up and awkward to reach, in order to get this owlet off the ground.
What followed were subsequent visits to make sure the parents were still caring for this unfortunate one. All went well.
Being acquainted with the rescuers, I was invited along on the last check up inspection, after all five owlets had fledged.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.

The Cascada de la Presa del Pradillo is quite close to the Purgatorio waterfall, so you can go through both with a circular route. But if we want to go straight and not walk too much, we will start from the La Isla recreational area. Due to its proximity, this is a good option to go with children. Following the path along the Lozoya River, you will immediately reach the old reservoir, whose wide waterfall served for the old light factory. At the top of the noisy waterfall, the landscape is reflected in a quiet reservoir surrounded by pine trees, showing an idyllic picture of nature.

My friend, Mario Scattoloni, asked me to upload 10 works of mine with the goal of promoting positivity, passion, and attention to our love of art on Facebook for 10 days and this is my second creation. It is based upon my painting called "Save the Family" which is about my own family.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️
White elephants are considered sacred in Buddhist countries and promise happiness and well-being. But the way in which they are kept couldn't be more contradictory, and it suggests that this is why the animals are particularly spoiled. But a visit to Burma's white elephants reveals the opposite.
Six of the nine white elephants that are in captivity in Burma are vegetating here in the elephant house in the capital Nay Pyi Taw. They eke out their lives on a few square meters.
A taxi driver explains that the tied animals are a symbol of the power of the military. So everything is under control.
In fact, a prominent Burmese elephant expert, who is afraid of being named, confirms that the highest army generals and their entourage visited the white elephants in the capital Nay Pyi Taw regularly.
One of the country's two vice presidents is also one of the weekly visitors. They all believed the animals would bring good luck and maintain power.

... Our individual well-being is intimately connected both with that of all others and with the environment within which we live.... Our every action, our every deed, word, and thought, no matter how slight or inconsequential it may seem, has an implication not only for ourselves, but for all others, too ~ Dalai Lama

Before the Five Towers were completed, Torre Picasso was the tallest building in Madrid, with 157 meters (515 feet) high and 43 floors. It was inaugurated in 1988 and is located in the financial area of Azca, in Madrid.
I have always liked the elegance and classicism in its white facade. It is usually illuminated at night with white projectors that enhance its presence in the Madrid skyline.
Picasso Tower is a replica of the Rainier Tower, in Seattle, USA, also designed by Minoru Yamasaki and built 11 years earlier.
The distance in a straight line from the hill where I took this photo and Torre Picasso is 8.1 km, just over 5 miles.
Hoping you like this photo, I wish you a good Thursday, full of good health and well-being.

A regatta is a term commonly used in the world of sailing to refer to a competitive event where boats, typically sailboats, race against each other. Regattas can vary widely in scale and format, from small local races to large international competitions. Here are some key points to note about regattas:
Racing Format: Regattas feature organized racing events with specific rules and courses. The format can include different types of races, such as fleet races (where multiple boats race against each other), match races (one-on-one competition), or distance races (longer courses that test endurance).
Classes and Categories: Boats participating in a regatta are often grouped into classes or categories based on factors like size, design, and performance. This ensures fair competition and allows sailors with similar boats to compete against each other.
Competitors: Regattas attract a diverse range of participants, from amateur sailors and local yacht club members to professional racers and international teams. The level of competition can vary, with some regattas focused on fostering community participation, while others are highly competitive.
Events and Festivities: Regattas often extend beyond the races themselves. Many regattas incorporate social events, parties, and gatherings, fostering a sense of camaraderie among sailors and providing opportunities for networking and socializing.
Local and International: Regattas can be local, regional, or international in scope. Some famous international regattas, like the America's Cup or the Volvo Ocean Race, draw global attention and feature top-level professional sailors and cutting-edge technology.
Traditions: Regattas often have their own unique traditions and rituals, which can vary by location and the history of the event. These traditions can include ceremonial flag-raising, prize-giving ceremonies, and more.
Spectator Sport: Many regattas are open to spectators, allowing them to watch the races from the shore or designated viewing areas. Some regattas, like Cowes Week, are famous for their onshore festivities, making them attractive not only to sailors but also to spectators.
Safety and Rules: Regattas prioritize safety, with strict rules and regulations in place to ensure the well-being of participants. Organizers also monitor weather conditions closely to determine whether races should proceed.
Diverse Types: Regattas can focus on various types of sailboats, including dinghies, keelboats, multihulls, and more. They can also be specific to certain age groups or skill levels, making the sport accessible to a wide range of participants.
A regatta is a thrilling and organized sailing competition that brings together sailors of all levels and backgrounds to race their boats while fostering a sense of community and celebrating the sport of sailing. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a spectator, regattas offer an exciting and enjoyable experience on the water.

Florida is home seasonably or year-round to almost 200 species of butterflies and is one of the premier destinations for naturalists in search of photography opportunities throughout most of the year. Our warm climate and extended growing season makes butterfly viewing an excellent choice for outdoor recreation in our numerous natural areas.
While a wide variety of Florida habitats supports butterflies, the loss or degradation of some habitats has contributed to major declines of some butterfly species. Threats to butterfly habitats also include use of pesticides, hurricanes, and introduction of invasive species. The Miami blue, for example, once fluttered up the west coast as far as Tampa and the east coast to Daytona Beach, but now is detected only on small islands in the Key West National Wildlife Refuge. People can help by creating butterfly gardens in their backyards or community common areas and using native plants that feed the caterpillars and provide nectar for adults.
Florida has the most Butterflies of any state East of the Mississippi.
Butterflies and Bees are our two most important pollinators.
These two insects are critical components of our fragile Ecosystems, assuring us that beautiful things will continue to grow.
Like Canaries, Butterflies and Bees are also a reflection of the well being or health of our Planet, if it is in trouble, so are they.

It was a beautiful day.....warm with only a slight breeze.....gorgeous sunshine providing that feeling of general well being
Let me take you back (present or forward depending on where you are of course in this world of ours)

We all have families and friends that we love. Surely before starting a war, or even considering continuing a war, a person should evaluate the devastation left behind after the war.
War causes the destruction of physical infrastructure, the psychological well-being of children, those fighting in the war, and those left under the bombing. The destruction of families, both psychologically and through death. The scarcity of food and general products. It interferes and can destroy general transit, interferes with the education of children, caring for the sick and the elderly. Leaving many homeless.
Finances are very tight after the war. In other words, life is totally changed for the worse for quite a long time after a war, basically all for nothing. Usually started in the name of tyrannical power and wealth. There is nothing good about war, everything is good and possible about peace. In peace life still has its ups and downs but not by force and democracy has its legitimate place.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day and spread love and kindness! ❤️❤️❤️

Taikodani Inari Shrine is the demon gate of Sanbonmatsu Castle (Tsuwano Castle) in 1773, when the 7th lord of the Tsuwano Domain, Norisada Kamei, prays for the peaceful protection of the Tsuwano Domain and the well-being of the people. It was the first time that the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto worshiped at the peak of Taikodani at the northeastern end.
The famous thermal springs of Saturnia are widely known and a popular destination, not only for tourists. Also the residents of the region like to use the healing effect of the hot sulfur springs during a relaxing bath in the midst of a beautiful natural landscape.
Even in ancient times, Dante rapturously mentioned the famous Terme di Saturnia in his Divine Comedy. The hot sulfur springs of Saturnia have a healing effect on joints and skin and generally strengthen the well-being. A particularly beneficial effect is noted for rheumatism and arthritis. From the thermal spring 800 liters of sulfurous 37°C warm healing water gush out every second.
The thermal town of Saturnia belongs to the province of Grosseto and is located in the south of Tuscany, in the Maremma. The village with about 600 inhabitants is situated on a hill about 4 km north of the famous waterfall. It is one of the first Etruscan towns in Italy. Some remains of the ring wall from Etruscan times can still be seen next to the Porta Romana. The castle of Saturnia is privately owned and therefore unfortunately cannot be visited.
Most tourists, however, are attracted less by the medieval village than by the famous waterfall of Saturnia. If you travel from the direction of Manciano, the waterfall can already be seen from the road, next to a restored mill. The water cascades down a rock wall, collects in a natural pool and then falls again from a grotto into step-like sinter pools. There, visitors can then bask in the healing sulfur water free of charge. The free bathing pleasure can be enjoyed all year round and at any time of the day or night.
Compassionate humans are everywhere if we are willing to open our eyes and see the kindness of those around us. Compassion is human nature.
So why dont we as humans show more compassion and kindness towards our planet, to Mother Nature, the environment and nature surrounding us. It makes me wonder. Why are we destroying the beauty of nature?
Why dont we acknowledging the need of animals, and nature in general, and the importance of their survival, as well as showing interest in their well-being, after all we need nature to be able to live here on earth.
I want to yet again praise and thank Una and Bo for putting the environment on the agenda, by making this sim.
I hope many will visit, but I also hope and wish people will take the time to sit down and reflect about what they see on the sim, this could very well be a real life scenario if we dont stop and think. By doing so hopefully we can make some changes in the way we treat our planet and the environment, we can all do something, even if little. It is a fact that global warming and climate change is effecting all of us. Some of the things we all can notice are: pollution, global warming, overpopulation, waste disposal, ocean acidification, loss of biodiversity, deforestation, ozone layer depletion, and the list goes on....
