Meet one of five owlets in a wild Great Horned Owl family raised on Saanich Peninsula private property.
This little one fell out of the nest way too early and needed a bit of help. Our local raptor rescuers strung up a basket in a tree next to the nest tree; the nest being too far up and awkward to reach, in order to get this owlet off the ground.
What followed were subsequent visits to make sure the parents were still caring for this unfortunate one. All went well.
Being acquainted with the rescuers, I was invited along on the last check up inspection, after all five owlets had fledged.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.

Lily legends - many stories, myths and legends have been composed about these beautiful flowers. Since ancient times, people have worshiped the lily as one of the most beautiful creatures on earth. Even the wish for well-being sounded like this: "May your path be strewn with roses and lilies." A symbol of hope in Ancient Greece, peace and purity in Rus', and in France these flowers meant mercy, compassion and justice.
The rose is rightfully called the queen of the flower world, since ancient times it has become an object of reverence and admiration.
The flower was already known in ancient Egypt. During the meeting of Cleopatra and the commander Mark Antony, the floors of the hall in her palace were covered with a layer of rose petals almost half a meter thick. In ancient Greece, this flower was considered a gift from the gods. And it was the rose petals that enveloped the beautiful Aphrodite emerging from the sea. The Olympian gods, being in admiration, sprinkled their nectar on the flower, and since then the rose has received its pleasant smell.
Cairns on the slope of the Loch Loyne in Scotland. This place is very special. We feel here full of happiness and well being in front of this extremely beautiful nature.

I have done what is righteous and just;
do not leave me to my oppressors.
Ensure your servant’s well-being;
do not let the arrogant oppress me.
My eyes fail, looking for your salvation,
looking for your righteous promise.
Deal with your servant according to your love
and teach me your decrees.

As this year closes, it's easy to see the negatives and relive them repeatedly as in every day that follows we are constantly reminded. As with previous year's this year as seen the loss of dearly loved ones; family, friends, relatives, lover's, co-workers. Entities that were a fundamental part of a familial ecosystem conducive to the functions of our daily life. Nothing fills the void to a uniquely irreplaceable personage.
Life will not always proceed the way we want, and though we may not have every minute answer to all the details of what to do, or where to go next, sometimes we all just need to stop, and reevaluate ourselves and take a moment to realize what is truly important.
So as 2021 closes, I hope that we can all take a moment to let some things come to a close along with it. A pandemic, or epidemic may not go away any time soon, but that does not mean we cannot resolve things that are within our control. Unless woefully bad and a risk to your health and well being, that disagreement with someone that keeps you from talking to them really is not all that important. if they, or you died today, what would that feud matter? The person you swore before God that you loved that is now neglected for someone else? Why did you love them in the first place? Maybe they changed, but they are still with you, and you have changed too. That best friend that "stole" someone from you? That person wasn't for you in the first place, doesn't mean you need to trust either of them, but for you own growth, talk, forgive, move on. Does not mean you have to hangout and catch up. But hanging on to that animosity only does more damage.
Forgiveness is not about forgetting, its about realizing everyone has flaws, some that one can live with, some that cannot be forgotten. When you love a person, and forgive them and stay, let the forgiveness be the end of that past fault. In truly forgiving and moving on, we ourselves become a better person for it, and forgiving that wrongdoer leaves them the burden of guilt for what they have done. Does not mean we return to bad situation, but realizing we forgive that person, for their flaws, and also forgive ourselves for not learning sooner that we are a higher value than what that person values us for and that though it may seem a long time, someone can, and will recognize our value.
Nothing stays the same, yesterday is gone, but our present is the first set of steps to what we can make to be a happy and safe future, if we so choose to do so.
Wishing everyone love, forgiveness, and to stay safe, stay healthy and a wonderful 2022.

First summer days ...
... bring us joy and happiness
I would like to pass this on to all my dear friends with this photo. I wish you could feel this in your heart and take the warmth and the sunshine into your everyday life. This are the Fields of Gold.
I love it when the summer stretches out his arms and envelops me like in a warm blanket.
Meadows illuminated by sunlight fill the soul with warmth & well-being. At this place one finds back to inner peace and the harmony, that gives us great joy.
I am a child of the summer. I love the warming rays of the sun. I love the long days and mild nights. The summer gives us light from early in the morning until late in the evening. The summer also means vibrant life everywhere. I love to ride my motorbike through flowered landscapes and enjoy the scent of the fields. I love sitting on the shore of a lake on a mild evening and enjoying the peace and quiet of nature around me. Yes, I am a summer child deep in my heart. I feel life so intense in summer that I could rejoice with joy.
Dear friends, enjoy these warm and sunny days outdoors in nature or wherever you are. This time is so precious. The wonderful summer has come.
The butterfly symbolizes for me all the beauties of summer. For a good reason, the butterfly is also called the "summer bird".

Yesss, I would be so happy in a place like this.
In 2019 I had to deal with health issues, and it drained my energy, I was running on "automatic mode". During the first lockdown, I could complete my healing and rest, and since this past winter, I'm full-on making changes for the better, focusing on my well-being and inner peace.
Started with small changes... and now working on bigger ones...

White elephants are considered sacred in Buddhist countries and promise happiness and well-being. But the way in which they are kept couldn't be more contradictory, and it suggests that this is why the animals are particularly spoiled. But a visit to Burma's white elephants reveals the opposite.
Six of the nine white elephants that are in captivity in Burma are vegetating here in the elephant house in the capital Nay Pyi Taw. They eke out their lives on a few square meters.
A taxi driver explains that the tied animals are a symbol of the power of the military. So everything is under control.
In fact, a prominent Burmese elephant expert, who is afraid of being named, confirms that the highest army generals and their entourage visited the white elephants in the capital Nay Pyi Taw regularly.
One of the country's two vice presidents is also one of the weekly visitors. They all believed the animals would bring good luck and maintain power.

A beautiful Lioness we spotted while on a 2023 photo safari in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. She stopped her search for prey just long enough to show me those eyes.
In the savannas of Africa, female lions play a crucial and dynamic role in their familial groups, shaping the social structure and bearing the responsibility for the pride’s survival. Contrary to some common misconceptions, lion prides operate within a matriarchal social structure, where females hold the key roles in decision-making and coordination.
Lionesses are the primary hunters within the pride. Their exceptional teamwork and strategic approach to hunting are essential for the pride’s survival and well-being. Together, they deploy strategic hunting techniques, such as coordinated flanking and ambushing, to outwit their prey. Their synchronized efforts increase the likelihood of a successful hunt to secure food for the entire pride.
Male lions are typically responsible for protecting their pride from other males. However, the females play a vital role in defending the pride’s territory against threats such as leopards, hyenas, neighboring prides, and occasionally other males. The survival of a pride often hinges on the lionesses’ ability to protect their territory.
The lionesses’ strong maternal instincts are at the foundation of the pride’s social bonds. As a group, they are responsible for raising and nurturing the cubs. They teach essential survival skills, including hunting techniques and social behaviors, which ensure the continuity of the pride’s legacy. The pride communicates through vocalizations and body language, fostering a strong sense of community. The bonds formed among females contribute to the overall success and stability of the group.
In the lion pride, females emerge as the unsung heroes, weaving together the threads of survival, protection, and legacy. Their role as huntresses, defenders, nurturers, and leaders is integral to the pride’s success.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a holy month of fasting and considered auspicious. It is celebrated as the month during which Prophet Muhammad received the initial revelations of what became the Quran, from God. Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day during Ramadan to purify the soul and have empathy towards the less privileged. They offer prayers and encourage charity. Ramadan teaches self-control and self-reflection. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
This Eid, let us plead for the well-being of our earth and lead with integrity.

E Lucevan El Stelle (Tosca) - embedded in my self written poem:
True love requires the great art of daring to dream awake with open eyes, to use the gentle wings of the imagination as a brush and the grey and desolate façades and streets as a canvas to clothe them anew with bright colours, to give them beautiful, gentle forms - to float with their lightness, to float a dark night on silver shining clouds under the bluish shimmering warm moonlight. To reach places and labyrinths where space and time dissolve.
However, true love is not readily accessible. She is the little sister of the soulless fear-demon, who stands protectively in front of her when an eager soul comes too close to her little sister.
"As proof of your true desire, I demand of you the courage - you must summon to prove your worthiness" she thunders menacingly. As proof she demands fearless, unconditional and selfless willingness to run with passion into her open knives. She invites you to an unequal duel on a cold and dark stage of a brutal dramaturgy where you meet your merciless antagonist who will not forgive any mistake or naivety. She is powerful, prosecutor and judge at the same time.
And if you lose the bitter fight, she will ask you as punishment in a mild but authoritative voice to turn your back on her and close your eyes. Then she will whisper lovingly and reassuringly "I won't kill you right away, I'll let your life escape slowly" and in the same breath ram a knife into your back, piercing your heart.
The deep pain pierces the whole soul
The limbs slacken, the body is one with the earth
The fear-demon applauds... and shouts in a rush of joy “Coda!!!!” (Final act in opera)
The pupils close with dignity like a heavy dark blood-red curtain after a stage performance
The song, conducted by memory, sung by the pain of lost love resounds deeply melancholy to pay its last respects.
Now you are a passive spectator of your own tragedy, listening to a music that was staged just for you:
Bes
"And the stars were shining
And the earth was smelling
The orchard gate creaked
And a footstep grazed the sand
She entered, fragrant
She fell into my arms
Oh, sweet kisses, oh, languid caresses
While trembling, I stripped the beautiful form of its veils!
My dream of love has vanished forever
The hour has passed and I die in despair!
And I have never loved life so much before!"
E Lucevan Le Stelle - Tosca (Giacomo Puccini)
A wetland is land where water is above, at or near the surface near most years. These are transitional areas between terrestrial and aquatic swamps, sloughs and ponds, unvegetated flats and bogs. All these types of wetlands, with the exception of bogs, are found in the Everglades.
Wetlands are essential to human well-being as they allow water to seep into underground aquifiers which provide the fresh drinking water we need. Wetlands help prevent flooding and erosion by slowing surface run-off while acting as a natural treatment plant to filter pollutants in the water supply. They also provide shelter and food for many insects, birds, fish and other animals. Two-thirds of all threatened and endangered wildlife species in the United States live in a wetland eco-system. Wetlands are crucial for migratory birds too.

Traveling along a little-used country road at sunset in open country is one of the simple pleasures in life.
Eastern Washington.
We all have families and friends that we love. Surely before starting a war, or even considering continuing a war, a person should evaluate the devastation left behind after the war.
War causes the destruction of physical infrastructure, the psychological well-being of children, those fighting in the war, and those left under the bombing. The destruction of families, both psychologically and through death. The scarcity of food and general products. It interferes and can destroy general transit, interferes with the education of children, caring for the sick and the elderly. Leaving many homeless.
Finances are very tight after the war. In other words, life is totally changed for the worse for quite a long time after a war, basically all for nothing. Usually started in the name of tyrannical power and wealth. There is nothing good about war, everything is good and possible about peace. In peace life still has its ups and downs but not by force and democracy has its legitimate place.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day and spread love and kindness! ❤️❤️❤️
Well being England , I think we see more grey skies than blue 😁
19c and very humid 80% here in Chelters...
Chickadees weigh less than 1/2 of an ounce (<14g) and harsh winters can be life threatening to these tiny songbirds. They would need our help during cold winter days. Research has shown that when the temperature falls below 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 C), the survival rate of chickadees almost doubled when they had access to feeders! Feeding these songbirds during the coldest months increased their overall winter survival rate to 69% versus a 37% survival rate of those not having access to feeders.
Also, an experimental study from 2024 found that watching birds improves well-being and reduces stress. It also connects us to nature and promotes much needed conservation :)
Hiking through the forest is always a very special experience. No matter whether it is a coniferous forest in the mountains, a deciduous forest in the lower regions or even a rainforest in tropical areas of the world.
It has now been scientifically proven that spending just a few minutes in the forest increases mental well-being, reduces feelings of anxiety and improves sleep quality.
It even goes so far that these effects already occur when you just think about going for a walk in the forest or looking at a photo of the forest.
Seen this way, my photos almost have a therapeutic approach, which is pretty cool.
However, in my opinion, being there yourself, especially at this time of year, and experiencing nature with all your senses is still the best way.
Here on this forest path, near Struppen in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, I felt like I was in the central nave of a natural and magical cathedral. With mighty beech columns on the sides and a colorful vaulted ceiling.
A place like this does something to you, I can promise that. And so, after the whole hunt for the fog (you may remember), I calmed down again, strolled along in a relaxed manner and gathered my strength for the next two hours of off-road forest exploration.
You don't necessarily have to do the latter if you decide to go for a walk in the forest.

Little kittens are like our own little babies; they need to be touched and know that they are loved and are an important member of the family. Touch is a fundamental human and animal need giving profound impacts on both physical and mental well-being. A warm touch can reduce stress, create a feeling of security, alleviate pain, amd help build strong and lasting relationships.
With heartfelt thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful day, stay healthy, stay alert, appreciate the beauty around you, enjoy your creativity, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
