Needless to say, my daughter in Estes Park, Colorado, was a bit surprised to find this large and handsome young elk, apparently finding the potentilla bushes at the entrance to his approval, comfortably and patiently awaiting her arrival home from her walk with the baby. She wisely extended the walk until he relocated.

There is an interesting Riddle that explains how Welcome Washington got its name. The US Post Office opened an office there in 1889. John Welcome Riddle was the very first Post Master. Evidence of a community is sparse today. Evidence of salmon and eagles is plenty.

Long-billed Corella (Cacatua tenuirostris)
I went for a wander to see if the Tawnies were around this morning, they weren't. So I took the long way home and spotted this Corella doing some renovations on a possible nesting hole in Woodville Park. It obligingly looked up for a photo.
For the first time in a while all images posted today were taken today!
