Tomorrow I set out on my quest to create a hot sauce recipe that I found in an old defunct Twin Cities beer magazine (The Growler) from April of 2017. I still have a bunch of Growler magazines in my collection and have yet to make any of the recipes that they contain
This recipe is for Chili-Maple "Tebaski" I will be using it on grilled chicken thighs
1/2 cup Sake
1/2 cup Mirin
3 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce
3 Tablespoons of Maple Syrup
2 Tablespoons Red Chili Hot Sauce
2 cloves of garlic, very finely minced
2 inches of fresh ginger, finely minced
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
In a small saucepan combine sake, mirin, soy sauce, maple syrup, garlic, ginger and hot sauce. Cook over medium heat and reduce by half.
In a separate container combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Whisk into the reduced sauce and return to the heat. Bring back to a boil to allow the cornstarch to activate and thicken the sauce just enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Don't know what happened to my gigantic red pizza making bowl. Will have to search (probably was annexed for craft activity!)
A Massey Ferguson 35X tractor at the 2019 National Ploughing Championships in Lincolnshire. This tractor is almost 60 years old but still ploughing up fields as if it was just off the assembly line.
Funny story...
I stopped by Hudson Nissan to take a closer look at the new Murano convertible. The inevitable crowd came out to look at the old Z, and the General Manager of the dealership started to talk to me about these older cars, when he finally said something I tought was funny... He said it was too bad I wasn't buying a car from them today, cause if I was, they would have taken a photo of my car to put it on their Facebook page! 8-S
All our final decisions are made in a state of mind that is not going to last.
~ Marcel Proust
I love this quote and I think it is so true. When we make decisions in life, it is based on the sum of things that we know, that we are, that we think, that we believe as of that particular moment. Therefore, it is pointless to beat ourselves up over a "bad" one that we might have made. We just need to move on from it and from there and make the best new decisions in this new moment.
I think my friend Joel was reaching out to me as I searched for quotes about decisions and came up with this one. Proust was his favorite and coincidentally, yesterday we went to a dramatic play reading of two of Joel's plays. Both plays were based on Proust and one also based on the Dreyfus affair. The director and the actors did such a fantastic job interpreting and presenting Joel's plays.
Yesterday was jam-packed with fun, starting with the play readings. After that over to Helix camera to pick up a few things and shop around. That place is heaven for a photographer! Then we spent quite a while at the annual Gold Coast Art Fair shooting people, talking to vendors, listening to music and sweating my ass off. Then a walk over to Star of Siam Thai restaurant to cool off, relax and enjoy some delicious food and drink.
On the way back to the car to pick up gear for the blue hour photo shoot we were heading to next, there were fire trucks, police cars, and a Haz Mat truck in front of the Bean at Millennium Park. They had evacuated the park due to a suspicious package being found under the Bean. There were cops and firemen all over, Michigan avenue was blocked off. It was crazy! I found out this morning that it turned out to be a fake bomb put there by some teenagers in some crazy role-playing activity.
The night ended with a blue hour photo walk meet-up near Clinton and Lake. We shot from train tracks across the river. It was fun to meet some people in real life who are Flickr contacts. I find myself being intimidated shooting with other photographers, so going out on these photo walks is helping and I'm enjoying it a lot.
I don't think I could have packed more fun into yesterday. I left the house around 7:45 in the morning and didn't get home until 12:30 or so. I think we probably walked at least 10 miles all day. I was exhausted, sore, sunburned but the fun was worth every bit. My soul is filled and I still have a smile on my face. I feel blessed.
I have about 700 shots to go through from yesterday, but since today is Sunday and I'm taking it easy on myself after yesterday's fun, I spent some time sliding this one for Sliders Sunday. HSS!
This is a Set of Globes taken in Berlin over the Years.
Inkluding some of my favourite Objekts, like the Televisiontower, a Jugendstil-Lantern, a Skulpture of the little Prince (Yeah, that is for you Pete ;o) and some more, which I think are interesting... Have Fun with them - this is a "Round Matter" (eine runde Sache)
Enjoy your Weekend Everybody
