i usually prefer savoury food for breakfast/brunch, but a local bakery here in santa barbara makes a buckwheat waffle that is to die for! side of bacon for the salt fix.
i know i'm late to the game here, but i recently started a photoblog on tumblr to experiment with a different way of presenting my photos, please check it out if you're interested!
I spent the 4th of July weekend camping and hiking out on the Castner Glacier in the Alaska Range. This was my first time out here in the summer and it was beautiful! The first five miles of the glacier are completely debris covered and partially vegetated, requiring quite a bit of bushwacking for a glacier hike. This was my campsite at 10 pm Saturday night, about 4 miles up the glacier and 5 miles from the road. You can see the tip of Blackcap above the ridge just right of the tent. I'm just starting to pick through some photos today, many more to come!
I made this apron last weekend at the Sasha Celebration Weekend meet-up. And today I made the chef's hat to complete the little outfit......I am thrilled with the whole look.
And it looks as if Holly has decided to make scones for all her Sasha brothers and sisters.
Too bad if you get stuck in an eclipse traffic jam this weekend, with no phone or internet access, but hopefully with lots of snacks and good company!
The heart and soul of racing. These are the people that work 40-50 hours or more a week and on the weekends, they load up their gear and race.

This cake recipe, from Dorie Greenspan, is simple and flavorful. It's simlar to a pound cake and is great with a cup of hot tea. This one is decorated with confectioner's sugar and edible pansies.
