At least I think they were weeds. While driving along the Icefields Parkway near Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada I could see miles of what looked like snow lining the highway. I pulled over and discovered loads of what appeared to be weeds. Maybe you know what they are. Anyway it made a nice image. I used Lightroom and Topaz Studio to process.
"Reach your hands inside this dream
Unzip the skin, release the sleep
Going down, I'm growing wings
Hope I can fly before I hit the ground
I can hear your thoughts arise
From these depths to creamy skies
Drifting down the water's cool
Let the weeds cover you
The silvery storms show nothing here
The surface domes the water's clear
The water's clear"

Last weekend, we took Luna camping and canoeing. (She loved it!) Our campground was near a field of dandelions. A reminder of the beauty within weeds (in nature and in ourselves).
I saw these weeds at a pond today and thought they would make a nice macro. I am rethinking that now! :-)
HMM
Pull the weeds in order to proceed.
Stand up!
Get to the roots before they grow shoots.
Stand up!
Then you can rest in the shade of the beautiful garden you have made.
I was working in my new garden yesterday and thought it was poetic how we have to get to the roots in order to clear out and make way for the flowering promises made.
Thank you for your kind visit Flickr friends. Happy Sunday!
The first signs of Spring over here at last, with some dandelions making an appearance. Thought I'd do some googling and, as always, nature amazes me. Did you know every part of a dandelion is edible? The flowers, leaves, roots have all been used in salads, teas & wines. Dandelion greens are packed with vitamins A, C, K, calcium, iron & potassium. Who knew! Well, apparently lots of people, they've been used for centuries in Chinese, Middle eastern & European herbal medicine.
They are great little travellers too - their seeds have tiny parachutes that lets them float for up to 8 kilometres.
I saw a couple of sayings - "Little suns by day, little moons by night" and "Sometimes the simplest things carry the most magic". Both seem so true!
Have a great week and thanks as always for any comments, they are always appreciated!
Wood, rocks, and weeds are all that's left to see at the abandoned Burleigh Murray Ranch near Half Moon Bay. However, they're worth the mile long trek to get out to see them if you're interested in the history of ranching along the San Mateo County Coast. I've been here several times and never once run into another person, so you can definitely get some peace and quiet during your visit.

An image of some weeds shot with an 85MM at F1.2. I do like the extreme softness that can be obtained!
