A good ole South Georgia weed - I was going for Bahia grass, but I think this is something a little different.

Backlit shot on some weeds with an unexpected visitor in the frame, the wasp wasn't supposed to be there, but without it the picture might have had a different attractiveness.

Lovely little pink flowering weed. I like this growing and flowering in the back yard.

A HABSCO International, Inc. weed sprayer rumbles through Union Pacific's Lakota Yard in Orem, Utah on a warm May 1, 1990 afternoon. The modified locomotive was born Chicago Burlington & Quincy GP7 No. 245 in Nov. 1952. HABSCO encountered financial difficulties and sold the company to DeAngelo Brothers, Inc. in 1997. Many thanks to Mark Hemphill for his help with the caption.

Amazing what grows mixed in with the grass.

This Osprey dove into the same pond where a Great Blue Heron briefly tangled up in the weed (www.flickr.com/photos/60250038@N02/35970489976/in/photost...). As it came out of water with a goldfish and clump of weed the Osprey had hard time gaining altitude. Eventually he managed to fly away with this long trail of weed. Given how often they nest on hydro pole I was worried of it getting an electrical shock from the dangling weed touching live wires. Hoped it made it safely home. Once the weeds come out in July, the Ospreys stop visiting this particular pond. Richmond Hill, Ontario.

The butterfly weed is a species of milkweed, so it has seed pods like a milkweed - they're bursting now -

The drivers behind me (I got out of the car) kept peering to see if there was something IN the weeds. :-)
