Taxonomy of T. cæspitum s.l. is currently under investigation. It is common throughout Europe; the presence of a complex of morphologically nearly indistinguishable spp is hypothesized, especially on the basis of biomolecular data.

T. cæspitum tends to be coastal in North Europe but also inland on heath and on the open borders of woodland. Colonies are normally monogynous but populous with 1E4 or more ☿☿. This species is moderately aggressive, living by predation on other Arthropoda, scavenging and also from root aphid honeydew. Seeds of various herbs and grasses are often collected into the nest. Alatae are conspicuously large compared with ☿☿; they are developed in the early summer and fly in late VI & VII.

T. cæspitum is a common indoor pest in eastern North America, especially near the coast. Nests are frequently located under building foundations and ☿☿ forage for food inside. Once a food source is located, mass recruitment occurs along a well defined odor trail. Commonly known as "pavement ants", this species is often seen in late spring & early summer out on sidewalks in huge battles with neighboring colonies. Baits can be very effective in eliminating colonies within structures. In nature, colonies are often found nesting in soil under stones; Reticulitermes flavipes is a common prey.

Micah Schindler

Micah was born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio. He left for basic training at Lackland AFB two months after graduating from high school.

He had attended 5 weeks of a 6 week basic training course at Lackland AFB, San Antonio Texas. Micah's MOS was to be in satelite communications.

35 days later, during a 36 hour training event (a 6 mile march) on September 10, 1999 at the Medina Annex, he collapsed at a water crossing from massive heat stroke. Micah was pronounced brain dead two days later.

From his journal entries, we know he was looking forward to moving on to Fort Gordon, Georgia for his tech school, returning home to attend the University of Cincinnati, and marrying his high school sweetheart Ericka. He wrote how proud he was going to be wearing his dress blues. The first and only time he wore that uniform was on the day we buried him.

Micah was buried in Saint Mary Cemetery, Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

Here's the new Brewtus with two simple accessories added: cabinet door handles as cup rails and a timer, both courtesy of Ikea.

The timer works particularily well as a shot timer, as it has a strong magnet that keeps it parked securely enough right on top of the E-61 grouphead. A nice feature is that it works as both a countup or a countdown timer, the latter providing an alarm when it reaches 0. It also recalls the last countdown time used at the moment you silence the alarm, ready to go again for timing the next shot.

Though I have it set to 25 seconds, I stop my pulls at around 10-17 seconds (after first drop) for my usual ristrettos, for a total draw of roughly 0.4-0.8 ounces.

Faith of Our Fathers II

Hello I am Evelyn Clarke. Like the stained-glass windows in Medieval churches, this mural of a Gothic window tells a story, the history of Islington United Church. The window's form unites the different ages of the church, to emphasize the common faith shared by the generations.

The lower portion of the mural shows the beginnings of the church community. At first, there was no building: from about 1818, circuit riders, ministers on horseback, brought religious services to the early settlers. Their visits provided community and common rituals of life; the baby in the woman's arms hints at baptism. By 1843, the settlers were able to build a small wooden chapel for the minister to use. This is the building in the lower left portion of the window. The back room of the Fox and Fiddle on Dundas Street now occupies the site.

Above the early days, the story continues with a photograph of the congregation in 1887. By now, Islington had become a village, rather than a collection of farms. The congregation had increased and in 1885, they were able to afford a permanent minister. The photograph marked the opening of their new redbrick church and manse. This was Islington Methodist Church, which stood just east of the mural.

By the 1930's, a larger church was needed to match the needs of the growing population. Islington had expanded; it was the centre of Etobicoke township, more businesses developed, and it was fast becoming a suburb of Toronto. Construction of the church was delayed by World War ll, but it was finally ready in 1947. In the upper part of the mural, the workers, themselves looking like figures in stained glass, build the scaffolding for the new building and construct the pillars and windows. The image culminates in the tracery of the completed windows.

The first minister of the new church was Rev. Stewart East, who had begun his career as a circuit rider in Saskatchewan. He is the model for the circuit rider in the mural. A very tall man, people said that when he rode, his legs were so long that the horse seemed to have six legs. Check this out in the mural! To mark the dedication of the church in 1947, he rode a horse up the entrance steps, showing the church's links to its origins, just as the lines of the window in the lower part of the mural continue in the lines of the new building above.
