Tried this and found it to be quite useful and good. It is like having Sharepoint without paying for the Sharepoint infrastructure. Now looking back at Google Docs, it is like Notepad or VI... :(

The tarp I picked up at Home Depot to cover the little shed while I was building it is 19'x29'5", which is apparently exactly the size of the grassy, usable area of my tiny back yard.

Another June Storm rolls in over the City.

This is a memorial to the volunteers who fell at the battle of Ridgeway in June of 1866. The volunteers were all farmboys, store clerks and two companies of University of Toronto students. The battle that this memorial commemorates took place just outside of Fort Erie, against Finian insurgence. These were Irish nationalist Republicans who were mostly US Army Civil War veterans who invaded Canada in an attempt to take Canada hostage in exchange for the British leaving Ireland.
This monument is topped by the figure of Britannia, you can see two statues on the flanks of the monument of volunteer soldiers. The Queen's own rifles were the Toronto regiment and so the two figures represent the Toronto rifles. The two female figures that we see, one at the rear of the monument is the figure of faith and religion and the figure in front is the figure of sorrow. And flanking as well the monument we see three Coats of Arms. In the centre is the Royal Arms of Britain and on the two flanks are the coats of arms of the City of Toronto and the City of Hamilton which had supplied the other battalion that fought off the battle of Ridgeway. This monument was put up by the Toronto Volunteer Relief Association. It's not a government monument, state monument, the Citizen of Toronto came together to honour the volunteers in a period when Canada really hadn’t been formed because the volunteers were killed in 1866 a year before confederation so it wasn’t officially the Canadian Army.
