The Iomega StorCenter Cloud network drive has two hard drives with standard RAID 1, mirroring, disks totalling 4TB (2TB of usable drive space due to the mirroring of the data). Changed the RAID to 0 so I have 4TB of drive space, with striping but without parity or mirroring.
Nice feature is that you can stream feeds from a IP cam straight to the drive. Be trying this at the weekend so that should be great. Also, when you attach a USB drive, such as the camera, all files are automatically downloaded.
Standard Distributed File System (DFS) has allowed me to configure a single share containing files from all the PCs on the network that are operating at anyone time. This makes sharing files much simpler. Can remeber setting this up commercially when DFS was new.
Creating a FTP site and a WebDAV site that is available on the Internet. With this people will be able to download application I develope and picture from me.
The hard drive space is also being used to backup all the PCs on the network. I can now convert fully to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, which I dont think is that bad except for all the patches.
All this and more for between 3 and 6 watts power consumption.

one apache, many mods
Install subversion, webpy will not work. This is what you get for pushing apache & trying to do lots of things. Subversion with dav works, webpy does not. I'm not sure why. Could it be the order of modules called? Or has the subversion install messed with my apache config scripts?

I know webpy should work as I set it up correctly. Now it looks like the mod_python (now must check this with the mod_python test code) is not processing.
debian vs mandriva
It does prove to me that debian as a server beats mandriva hands down in setting up most complex services (subversion, mod_python + webpy) hands down. (must setup samba & see if this holds true,)
strip down subversion, webpy must work
So I may try setting subversion server only without webdav. I have better things to do but, svn is a critical part of 12 step. (add link) Again these are the tradeoffs you must make using a desktop development system & also as a server.
At the office, dedicated servers remove these type of problems.

These windows tell the story of how I got the webpy install going again after installing subversion with webdav. Nothing hard. What happened is I installed subversion & dav. Ubuntu (debian) install scripts made a few changes.
*specifically removed AllowOveride in
-/etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default
making .htaccess, non visible
Once corrected the test code worked. So did webpy. The reference used is Graham Dumpletons site on mod_python. Its shows a great way to fault find your way through apache2/mod_python - the prerequisite for webpy.
I can't say enough about debians setup. It's clear & works in a predictable way. This shot shows the test code & the browser output.
