joyeux anniversaire Spidy

no possum products here but a nice bokeh-y web home :-))

Located along the American River.

No Shelob in sight. The web itself had the morning fog clinging to it making it stand out that much more than usual, it was too good an opportunity to miss.

Nothing like a cob web, carrying droplets from the recent down poor!

A small web in the tall weeds feeling the weight of the morning dew. Across a small parcel of land there were hundreds of such webs spun either by orb weavers or grass spiders and the scene reminded me there are alot more spiders around than we ever see in our lives. Or our kitchen floors.

Backyard delights - do you see the little web within a big web?

Just finished another memory card with my backyard shots and I'm sharing some of them with you. I'll be out today enjoying the weather. After all summer is slowly ending and I'd better soak up all the sun :D

Explored on 13/11/2013 - thank you!

It’s all about imagination!

Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

Little Island, Hudson River Park, New York

In early spring you can often find Nursery web spiders stretched out on stems and leaves sunning themselves. They wait for flies and other insects to pass by, and then use quick sprinting and strength to overpower them.

After mating, the female Nursery web spider lays her eggs into a silk cocoon which she carries around with her fangs. Just before the eggs hatch, she spins a silk tent (nursery web) and releases her spiderlings inside it. This tent offers them some protection for the first few days of their life. After their first moult they leave the tent. The female stays close to the tent until all the spiderlings have dispersed.

Nature's Web, never shuts down.

I've decided to make it Web Wednesday! I have a few photos that show the webs rather nicely. It's often tempting for me to crop in to the spider, but with a web like this, you'll just have to make due with a smaller spider. :-) I left the image big enough that you can view larger to see the spider.

This is a Trashline Orbweaver, and it appears she has lunch at the front end, and a fluffy, trashy egg sac behind.

- actually it's indoors; I'd wanted to photograph the web strung across the garden path, but it was blowing about too much in the breeze.

Thousands of spiders' webs coat the grass near sunset. Brockham, Surrey.

I've seen this garden spider before, just hanging around on his web. I wonder how long they live.
