Yes, I'm wearing purple tomorrow. Not just for the 6 boys who gave up their life but for everyone who’s been bullied in general. This is for you, the girl/boy who sits in the back of the room hoping no one will notice because they fear judgement. This is for the one’s who were called “fat” because you are beautiful just the way you are. This is for the people who were bullied in any kind of way. <3

I’m wearing purple -- shirt, shoes, socks, even undies -- to support Spirit Day and END anti-LGBT bullying.

Kids learn from adults. Haven't we evolved enough to stop acting like barbarians?

Thanks again to Steve/rexsteed for this adaptation of a photo taken at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco recently.

I was - well, lucky, I guess - in school. I had parents who had their issues, but didn't bring them to the parenting table. And I "passed" ... first as the quiet, nose-in-a-book type and then as a social/jock/scholar type later on. Sadly I took on part of the latter persona as a shield and mask against what I feared ... both from others, and within myself. I saw what bullies could do and I wanted no part of it.

No one should have to make that choice. Not now ... not ever again. Let's all do what we can to break that toxic and deadly cycle.

I own no even-close-to-purple clothing, so thank Steve/rexsteed for enhancing the purple hue (from the skylight overhead) in this photo he took the day he, Peter and I did a "be a local tourist" visit to Exposition Park.

This shot was only possible due to a number of people:

Olivier Bareau, who Skyped an impromptu tutorial on the function of the Match Colour function on Photoshop.

Tony3 who helped me realise how to open more than one photo in Photoshop and work with them as layers

Balakov who came up with the Lego Son of Man concept.

It's life Jim.... who helped to inspire this shot with his appreciation of the quote in the first place :)

EDIT: Replaced 1.5.11 MUCH happier with the brightness now :)

WARNING

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired

And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

And run my stick along the public railings

And make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

And pick the flowers in other people's gardens . . .

Reach out from the darkness of your today in to the brightness that your future holds.

If you are thinking about hurting yourself, or giving up on your life, please don't.

This world is full of people who will love and accept you for whoever you are.

I am proudly wearing my purple today, I am standing up to hate and bullying, and I want everyone to know, especially the LGBT youth out there that it does get better, I promise!

Students at CSULB gathered at the Speaker's podium on October 20th in remembrance of the recent gay suicides prompted from bullying. Attendees held candles and listened to speeches made by gay support groups on campus and victims of bullying.

Ok so this photo is blurry, but it was dark and my camera's ISO can only go so high ^_^

Lauren Mierke, left, and Karen Cerrey, middle, attended the CSULB candlelight vigil to show their support for gay issues. "I'm here because I think it's important to show everyone that they're not by themselves and not alone in their struggles..." said Cerrey. The event was held in memorial for the recent teenage suicides nation-wide and to to let LGBT youth know that there is support available to them.

Participants walk their dogs at the Henderson Hall portion of JBM-HH Oct. 11 during a Marine and Family Programs-hosted dog walk event in observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Dubbed "Four-legged Friends Against Domestic Violence," the walk saw more than XX participants despite the day's rainfall. (JBM-HH PAO photo by Damien Salas)

I'm wearing purple because I saw a lot of tweets about wearing purple today, so I decided to have a photo with purple.

It has been a very interesting day.

Be proud of your age! Jenny Joseph inspired women to wear purple with a red hat when they got older.

'cause this is my 200th piccy for 365 days. :)

For the June MSH - When I'm old I shall wear purple

The Smile Foundation’s passion has always been to help facially disfigured children and children born with facial deformities by assisting them to receive the much needed surgery that they would not otherwise be able to afford. The organisation sponsored around 200 children through its activities during this past year. These surgeries were performed across 6 State Academic Hospitals that partner with The Smile Foundation in correcting these children’s facial anomalies. The Children’s facial deformities will be corrected in a child-friendly environment, and The Smile Foundation will use its relationship with academic hospitals to engender a child friendly culture, best practices, and Smile Foundation standards. Smile Foundation is a non-profit organization that brings people together for the purpose of providing expert surgical intervention, creating greater social involvement and enabling sensible corporate social investment – to make a difference in the lives of children with facial anomalies. We offer holistic care to transform the lives of these children who are threatened with rejection by society. The Smile Foundation is about meaningfully connecting people to bring about new opportunities, new futures, with the result being – new lives. ift.tt/1BxbXAD #moebiussyndrome #moebiussyndromeawarenessday #race #athletic #running #sport #supportella #support #donate #giveachildasmile #wearpurple #purple #halfmarathon #shareasmile #instashare #showsupport #charity #facialabnormalities #children #help #bestcurve #quotes #lifequotes #quotesandsayings - jeaninetambellini
