This is what happens when a nine year old carves the jack-o-lantern and takes the photograph.
My dad gave me a bunch of slides of his tour in Vietnam.
This is one of him that I really like a lot.

Upgraded to Lr5 and was checking that the photos on the external hard drive were in the catalog as they ought to be, when I came across this one.

It truly amazes me that they all still get together on a regular basis today... 61 years later. All three of the other girls in this photo came to the hospital to visit my mom when she had her heart attack last month... one from Kentucky, and one from Alabama.
Friendships like that are priceless.

Since it's Wayback Wednesday, I found this photo of my family taken circa 1973. My dad must have been the one taking the photo. That's me wearing the bandana.
I scanned some old photos recently in anticipation of Wayback Wednesday. This photo makes me happy as I know how happy my parents were.

Aside from "synchronized sitting", my dad and his friend Wilburn were pretty good at wrestling alligators, too.
This photo hung on the wall at my dad's service station for many years... hence the writing of their nicknames on the print. A testament to a couple of friends and good travels.
Wayback Machine - "A Very Wayback Christmas, Part 1"
Christmas morning, 1959 - My dad and mom open a gift at a gathering with her family.
Mom and her two sisters, and all of their husbands stayed overnight with my grandparents on Christmas Eve, and shared presents and had breakfast together on Christmas morning.
This was taken, most likely, by my grandmother... and is my favorite Christmas photo of any that my family has.
A scanned photo for Wayback Wednesday.
I had just given birth, probably the day before to Tamara, and Jasmine was visiting me at the hospital.

Some of the best memories from when I was a boy involve times that we got together with mom's sister and her family. I looked forward to these gatherings so much.
Dad and I are on the left, with Dave in the back. Then my grandmother (standing), and Dave's sister and parents. Mom, of course, is taking the photo.
I notice here that my dad is wearing his Gulf shirt. It was not uncommon at all for him to come straight from work to these events. I liked that he smelled like engine oil, tires, and gasoline. I always wanted to smell like that when I grew up , too.

"It's in the water, it's in the story... of where you came from.
Your sons and daughters, in all their glory... its gonna save you.
And when they crash, and come together... and start rising.
Just drink the water... where you came from."
