Along the Ob Hill Loop, we found a leak in the water line coming up from the sea water intake/desalinization plant. I trust it'll be fixed soon.
Less than half of Yangon's 5 million population are supplied with piped fresh water. A colonial-era steel water pipe fed from Gyobyu reservoir is a prominent feature in the city's northern suburbs, where towns have grown up along it. Residents here appear to benefit little from the relatively clean water it carries. Most either pump groundwater or store rainwater in tanks.
The pipe is physically and socially divisive, but its gently curving path provides a uniting force for the people who live near it, particularly local children who climb on, play on and run along its broad surface.
With nice weather the renovation of Centre Street is making progress. The western half is almost ready for repaving. I was surprised to see that here at the northern end they are still digging big holes. (I thought that the watermain work was complete).
In the current state it can be a five minute drive from a business on one side of the street to access one on the other side.

This pipe disappears up the hillside, it goes into the waterworks building at the tunnel, but I'd followed it from way further down the valley.
The fifth entry in Hammers Frankenstein series, FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, is probably the best. Director Terence Fisher thought so as well. The plot has been well-covered by other reviewers, so I wont bother rehashing it. The acting in this movie from the whole cast is top notch. Peter Cushing is great as usual and he really pulls off Frankensteins split personas: the charming public figure and the cold, ruthless madman. Simon Ward and Veronica Carlson are both good as the young couple held captive by Frankensteins demands. Thorley Walters is an amusing police inspector. And Freddie Jones is great as the creature, a once insane scientist cured but trapped in a body thats not his.Terence Fisher was a great horror director and three sequences in this film rank among his best: the opening with the Hitchcockian beheading sequence, followed by the scene where Frankenstein unmasks himself (that shot in particular is great); the scene where the watermain bursts and the dead Dr. Brandts hand is forced up causing poor Anna (Carlson) to hide it; and the final confrontation between the Baron and his unwitting creation.Warner Brothers DVD is far from a deluxe edition but itll do. The widescreen transfer looks great, much better than the old VHS I had. The only extra is the trailer, but those old trailers were so much fun than what we have today.Anyone who is a fan of Peter Cushing or Hammers horror films must get this DVD. You will not be disappointed. For More 5 Star Reviews Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed starring Peter Cushing, Veronica Carlson, Freddie Jones, Simon Ward, Thorley Walters

Running underground for nearly 14.5km, the Hanlan Water Project is the largest tunnel of its kind ever undertaken in the Region of Peel. Designed to bolster the capacity of the regions aging water distribution network and ensure the viability of future growth, the project has been years in the making, and will continue to shape the future of our community for decades to come. Costing nearly $500 million, the project is a considerable undertaking, but one needed to meet the future needs of Mississauga, as well as the city of Brampton, Caledon and York Region.
The project involves the subterranean installation of a 2400mm RCP feedermain and a series of 1500mm sub-transmission mains along roadways and under existing communities. The primary feedermain will run north up Dixie Rd. from the Lakeview Water Treatment Plant at the foot of Lakeshore, eventually terminating at the Hanlan Reservoir and Pumping Station at Tomken and Britannia Rd. The work includes a number of ancillary projects to roadways and other local distribution works, and will span roughly 6 years. Combining a mix of open-cut and underground tunnel boring, the project has had to contend with the challenges to staying on schedule while managing the needs of traffic and residents alike.
