This is our local falls just after the deluge of rain we had late last year. Must get up there more often.

Happy Friday out there :)

Mount Field National Park in Tasmania has some famous falls, Russell Falls. This photo isn't them. This is the underdog of falls (underfalls?) in the park, Horseshoe Falls. Needless to say, they were my favourite. They struck me as a place it wouldn't be surprising to see a dinosaur amble out of. Do dinosaurs amble? Maybe rampage? Or thud! Yes, a dinosaur wouldn't be out of place thudding out of this place.

We were camping there in a campervan in May, winter here. It was freezing. Because there isn't much room in a small campervan, we set up camp chairs outside where we would sit & chat about the day's adventures with friends over a warming red wine at night. If you stood up to go get anything, say like oh, chocolate for example, your chair would be soaking wet from the dew within minutes. Wet bots aplenty. But it was lots of fun & all worth it! The walks and nature were incredible & no photo can do them justice. Okay, end of travelogue :)

Happy Wednesday out there !

Bond Falls is a scenic and popular waterfall in southern Ontonagon County. The falls are created as the middle branch of the Ontonagon river tumbles over a thick belt of fractured rock, dividing it into numerous small cascades. Total drop of the falls is approximately 50 feet.

This is without a doubt one of Ohio's most beautiful waterfalls. Not tall nor wide, this waterfall is so beautiful due to the incredible gorge it spills in to. At the base of the waterfall is a pool that you can swim in if the waterfall is flowing. This waterfall is on the Old Man's cave trail in Hocking Hills State Park. Also on this trail is the Lower Falls at Old Mans Cave.

A small beautiful waterfall in Morgan Hill State Forest in Tully NY. This is the bottom level of the falls, you can just barely see a little of the upper section in this composition.

I hope everyone enjoys this image!

Got my PC back, been offline a few days due to home decorating! Apologies but another composition from that waterfall in Blaen y Glyn in the Brecon Beacons. I think that is the last one!

swung by Tahquamenon Falls on our way home. Amazing! I have never seen it with such a large volume and flow as today. It's supplied by the spring melt-off and rain. Another benefit of the run-off is the intensity of color - again, never seen such deep rich color. That is why it's aptly referred to as "root beer falls"

Locals Call it “Root Beer Falls”

The dark brown color in the water is nothing to worry about. This color originates from the tannins that leach from the cedar swamp at the start of the Tahquamenon River.

Disfrutarlos!

Espero que os guste!

Bridal Veil Falls plunges under the Old Columbia River Gorge Highway's 1914 bridge and through a mossy basalt defile in two tiers, a drop of about 120 feet altogether. The creek ran near-dry for decades because the lumber mill below diverted the water. Now the mill is a memory, and Bridal Veil Falls has returned.

Ash Cave is the largest recess cave east of the Mississippi and perhaps the most awe-inspiring feature of Hocking Hills State Park. With a horseshoe-shaped rim that spans 700 feet, with a runoff waterfall, Ash Cave is enormous and open on one side. It’s the southernmost of six natural areas that comprise Hocking Hills State Park, and is a must see for all visitors looking to experience Ohio caves.

Cedar Falls - If one were to venture down the Lower Gorge of Old Man's Cave, you would eventually enter the picturesque valley of Queer Creek. At the point where Old Man's Creek merges with Queer Creek, the trail takes an abrupt turn east and enters this new valley. The trail leading to Cedar Falls passes through the most austere area in Hocking Hills. This remote, primitive chasm is laden with hemlock and bound by steep rock walls and their accompanying grottos and waterfalls. It is a wild and lonely but spectacularly beautiful place.

Set of drops deep in between mountains, Big Garlic Falls is a short length of drops along the Big Garlic River. Cascading water over craggy volcanic rocks, surrounded by low brush and scraggly pines, this waterfall fits into the Huron Mountain area perfectly. The largest drop is composed of a few small, cluttered streams of water over a mass of rock that splits the river into several unique chutes.

Going back a few weeks, Clydach Gorge. There was so much water that it was difficult to get a shutter speed that kept some texture in the water!

Of the many waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park, Dark Hollow Falls is the closest to Skyline Drive. A downhill hike of about .5 miles takes you to this scenic waterfall where the Hogcamp Branch of the Rose River tumbles down 70 feet over a series of drops. The only hard part about the hike is getting back, because it is uphill all the way.

The main fall consists of two drops. The uppermost drop is the most scenic in my opinion. Just below the main falls, there are two more drops, both of which are narrow chutes around 20 feet high. You can easily see both of them from the trail that descends from the main falls.

Gabbro Falls is on the Black River and is as impressive, if not more impressive, than its more celebrated neighbors downstream along the Black River Scenic Byway. This is a largely wild waterfall with no fences or barriers of any kind. It consists of three separate drops. When the water is high there is a fourth drop that is the height of the other three combined that can only be seen from the east side of the river. The main drop falls into a narrow crevice between two large rock formations.

Starvation Creek Falls, is a two tier waterfall located in the Starvation Creek State Park at the north skirt of the Columbia River Gorge, in Hood River County, in the U.S. state of Oregon. Oftentimes overlooked, this 190-ft two-tiered Starvation Creek waterfall is quite impressive, tucked away behind the more-popular rest area. It's directly off I-84, making for a quick stop to take in a bit of history and beauty.
