Mount Field National Park in Tasmania has some famous falls, Russell Falls. This photo isn't them. This is the underdog of falls (underfalls?) in the park, Horseshoe Falls. Needless to say, they were my favourite. They struck me as a place it wouldn't be surprising to see a dinosaur amble out of. Do dinosaurs amble? Maybe rampage? Or thud! Yes, a dinosaur wouldn't be out of place thudding out of this place.

We were camping there in a campervan in May, winter here. It was freezing. Because there isn't much room in a small campervan, we set up camp chairs outside where we would sit & chat about the day's adventures with friends over a warming red wine at night. If you stood up to go get anything, say like oh, chocolate for example, your chair would be soaking wet from the dew within minutes. Wet bots aplenty. But it was lots of fun & all worth it! The walks and nature were incredible & no photo can do them justice. Okay, end of travelogue :)

Happy Wednesday out there !

For Spring, I thought the waterflow was light. It rained when we left the area for a couple days which may have brought this stream to a roar!

Fjallsárlón is a glacier lake at the south end of the Icelandic glacier Vatnajökull. Fjallsjökull which is part of the bigger glacier reaches down to the water of the lake and some ice-bergs are drifting by on its surface

Another picture that I noticed when cleaning up the hard drives.

I photographed the picture on a gray and very cold winter day at the river Prüm near Irrel in the Southern Eifel.

Ein weiteres Bild, das ich beim Aufräumen der Festplatten bemerkt habe.

Das Bild habe ich an einem grauen und sehr kalten Wintertag am Flüßchen Prüm bei Irrel in der Südeifel fotografiert.

Thanks very much for the comments and the visit. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone !:)

One of the 7 waterfalls in the Butzerbach Valley on a frosty winter day.

The well-known "Eifelsteig" long-distance hiking trail leads directly past these waterfalls.

A July visit to this beauty and the waterflow was much decreased from the mid June levels...by the end of summer this will be barely a trickle.

After that, we wait for the next winter's melt that creates a torrent to die down a bit before visiting again!

Maybe that huge tree blocking the view will have shifted by then...currently it is lodged on a thin tree at the top of the gorge. One good storm and we could have the tree lying in the bottom...probably cutting other views...but that's nature...and we love it 😁

Well I won't hold you in suspense any longer. Here is the Liffey Falls in northern Tasmania. I was tempted to call this photograph, "Falls photo ruined by tourists", but in the end decided they were a benefit not a curse. At least here this couple picnicking at the base of the falls gives us a sense of perspective.

They are sitting in a natural amphitheatre, carved out by millennia of waterflow. Obviously their choice was well made as they sat in the direct sunlight that was bathing the bottom of the falls. In all the time we were here, they never moved from their position, despite the fact that many people with cameras were trying to get a shot without them in it!

So here's to the tourists of the world who are progressively making it impossible to take a people free shot of major landmarks.

I made a trip across the state border to Enders Falls in CT, the New England state I know the least. I did visit Enders Falls once before. The falls are great, and what I like is that you walk the trail and observe at least 3-4 distinct waterfalls along the way. The falls were beautiful as usual, but the waterflow less than last time, maybe due to the drought?

A waterfall in Funchal.

The 23m-high waterfall is considered Yeongjusipgeong, one of the ten greatest scenic wonders of Jeju island in South Korea. I had to cross the little cove the water falls into, leaving all other visitors on the opposite side, to avoid the endless spraying that made it impossible to shoot from the other side.

Experience shows that water photography works better on rainy or cloudy days than in bright sunshine. The colors are more intense and there are rarely burned out areas in the water. And to be able to play with the exposure times, a polarizing filter and low ISO values are sufficient.

At the risk of overdoing the waterfall thing, I thought I'd post this one of Edith Falls. The rock at the base is usually the star of the show, but the waterflow was hard to ignore this day.

Shohola Falls makes a loud roar here as the sound of the water rushing into the pool echoes off the surrounding stone cliffs.

Dettifoss is fed by the powerful glacier river Jökulsá á Fjöllum which flows from the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. The thunderous falls has an average waterflow of 193 metres cubed per second (6,186 cubic feet). It is 100 metres (330 feet) wide and plummets 45 metres (150 feet) down into Jökulsárgljúfur canyon.

This canyon is in the northern part of the greater Vatnajökull National Park, the largest national park in the country, thus Dettifoss is well protected.

The Fountain of Wealth is listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, Suntec City. During certain periods of the day, the fountain is turned off and visitors are invited to walk around a mini fountain at the centre of the fountain's base, three times for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as live song and laser message dedications between 8 pm to 9 pm
