Theme No.8 is Waterdrop (#6) - I will post a droplet tomorrow.
Here's another waterdrop I tried the other day. Timing on this one is a bit tricky because the drops don't fall down at the same time all the time so I really have to be patient to get the intermittent pattern before taking the shot. This photo was taken with a big (glas) bowl filled with water. The bowl was illuminated from different sides with light (each light source had a different color)
Depending on the strength of each waterdrop, waves with different heights are caused. Depending on the height, different light colors are reflected in the water.
Here is the result. What you need?
Ingredients:
- e.g. Canon EOS 70D
- e.g. Canon EF 100mm
- e.g. 2x Yongnuo YN560-III Flash
- Several light sources
- Transparent color masks
- A big bowl with water
- 1 Pipet

This is my first try at waterdrop refraction and it is an enjoyable indoor challenge when it's too hot outdoors.

I'm cheating for my picture today. I didn't take any pictures during my walks... Was a bit uninspiring sadly and I think I have a touch of back to work blues!
So I'm posting a bonus photo I took on Monday... Still from 2023 so I'm still counting it 😜!
Waterdrop meets water surface. Flowers in the background are reflected in the water waves. Panasonic DMC-FZ1000. Lens Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT 1:2.8-4.0/9.1-146 at 32mm. f/8.0. ISO 125. 1/160s.
An internal flash plus an external flash were used in manual mode. The external flash was an old Metz Mecablitz and was placed on the left. It was connected as slave flash triggered by the internal flash.
