This is what our Christmas tree looked like through the Oreston lens, I think the angel is perfect, as if she will watch over us through this picture until next year. I was going to use this shot for the Smile on Saturday group but in the end I chose the more abstract (and obscure) image as a closeout for 2021.

Salyx, in the garden, yesterday.
There was a very chilly wind blowing around but I was determined to be outside, in the sunshine. All my cats were curled up in the warmth of indoors, but Salyx , the wee darling, decided to come with me on a brief tour of the garden.

one of 5 cubs raised by a female Cheetah in a large game reserve in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
This image was taken early morning when we tracked these beautiful cats on foot with a very experienced guide. The Cheetah mother was very relaxed and we stayed with them for about half an hour.
The next morning when we drove around in that same area we encountered a large Black Rhino bull.

~ 6.5 month old Amur Leopard Cub (Panthera pardus orientalis) named "Charlie" living at the San Diego Zoo.
Conservation status: Critically Endangered. It is one of the rarest big cats in the world with an estimate somewhere between 30-60 solitary individuals left in the wild. The San Diego Zoo has established an Amur leopard breeding program and is working with other zoos to develop a sustainable and genetically diverse population of Amur leopards.

This sweet capture of a deer family grazing in the early morning was taken at Auld Lang Syne in SL. I would image a mother deer would always keep a watchful eye on her fawn, even while her head is down.

This green heron was hunting at Circle B Bar Reserve near Lakeland, Florida. He measures 16-22 inches (40-55 cm) from beak-tip to tail-tip.

This green heron was watching for the opportunity to catch yet another fish. It eventually did, but it was faced away, so it wasn't an ideal capture...

This young Red-shouldered Hawk is definitely not the most skilled hunter, but not for lack of trying. We saw him try and fail three times on the hunt while we hiked through the Aripeka Sandhills. Keep trying dude!

Spotted at Lake Martin in South Louisiana, this American Alligator (of Cajun descent) was enjoying his privacy....but always wary of his surroundings.
Although no true scale is readily apparent....this ole boy is about 12-14 ft. long nose to tail. The last 6+ ft. of his tail was not visible & underwater.
They're really not as scary as they look......but certainly to be respected.

An Osprey keeps a watchful eye on a perched Bald Eagle above Silver Glen, Florida.
Sadly, it was the ospreys time to rule the Glen, thus making the eagles fly around it. Any eagle who attempted to get close was met quickly and forced to exit the area.
