All Love Can Be - James Horner

…una mente brillante
.
...piove a dirotto e
in una via deserta si sente
d'un carro lo scricchiolio,
degli zoccoli lo scalpitio
in mezzo al triste mondo.
Abbandonato, un bambino
piange dietro una bara,
pallido il viso, occhi nel vuoto
chiede conforto alla nebbia
che stretto lo avvolge là…
dove la pupilla incerta
è in cerca d’una madre
del suo bacio, dell’ultimo abbraccio
ma oramai… tutto ha perso.
E’ solo coi suoi stracci addosso
lerci e inzuppati di pioggia
rimane la sua memoria
più santa e la più cara.
…sarai per sempre
il figlio di una donna muta.
Alza gli occhi al triste cielo
una figura intravede,…che
una silenziosa parola eleva,
sarai,….una mente brillante
e il suo ricordo lo conforta.
Gli dirà con placida fermezza;
con la gelosa e veggente tenerezza
avrò per lei sempre parole dolci
era un angelo, era la sua mamma.

…a beatiful mind
.
... it rains heavily and
you hear a deserted street
the creaking of a cart,
the trampling of the hooves
in the middle of the sad world.
Abandoned, a child
cries behind a coffin,
face pale, eyes blank
asks comfort from the fog
how tightly it wraps it there ...
where his pupil is uncertain
is looking for a mother
of her kiss, the last hug
but now ... everything has lost.
He is alone with his rags on
filthy and drenched in rain
his memory remains
holiest and most expensive.
…you will be forever
the son of a dumb woman.
He rolls his eyes to the sad sky
a figure glimpses,… that
a silent word elevates,
you will be, …a beatiful mind
and the memory of him comforts him.
He will tell him with placid firmness;
with jealous and visionary tenderness
I will always have sweet words for her
she was an angel, she was his mother.

Room With a View for Smile on Saturday
Apparently this room has the best view of the street. It is his favorite window.
The Macro Monday theme for 7/24 is buckle. (The admin said we could use a toggle and I extrapolated that to include a clasp, also.) We have a dearth of typical belts, so I went hunting for stand-ins. There are a few possibilities so I’ll dither, naturally.
This may be the clearest example of a “buckle” in the collection of possibilities bc without it, the watch wouldn’t stay on your wrist!
When we moved four years ago, people told us we would get tired of the deer who wander our neighborhood. I am still in awe when I see them. I found this one watching the sunset last night in the neighbors yard.
The Female Red-tailed Hawk that I encountered keeps watch over the area for anything that moves and would make a tasty meal.

The passengers standing on Rugby's platform 2, patiently waiting the arrival of their train to Birmingham, almost feel compelled to watch the action across on platform 1.
To be fair, it's worth watching too as Freightliner 'Shed' 66561, hauling the 10.59am New Bilton Cemex - Willesden Euroterminal (4R98) discharged aggregate wagons, heads towards London on what is generally a Down direction platform. The reason being, New Bilton Cemex is located just a couple of blocks north off this line, so trains leaving the facility run 'wrong direction' for a few blocks before crossing over to the Up line through Northampton.
Timing was quite fortuitous - 15 seconds later the Birmingham train rolled in effectively killing the shot.

Take me Home.....

The Stunning Frogmore...Try a visit :)
I loved spending sometime at Frogmore today. Reflecting on my year. Being on the East Coast, coming home to my mountains.. Spending so much time in the mountains.
Take me home.. really hits me. I think some of the biggest gifts we can give ourselves is Clarity of who we are, Graciousness of how we treat people, Kindness to everyone, we never know what struggles people have.
This was about the only action I encountered at Green Cay today, an Anhinga flipping its prey to swallow it.

I adore waterfalls. Why, you ask? Oh, there are many reasons I could cite. How much time do you have?
Talking about time (and waterfalls), one thing I like about waterfalls is how they flow at a constant rate as if there is no need to keep an eye on the time. As if, they themselves are the Time, flowing constantly in one direction for no reason and with no regret whatsoever.
PS: I have been to the beautiful Shenandoah NP twice, but didn't post a photo thereof for any particular reason. That changes now.
We have some wonderful rough seas on the South coast of the UK...people tend to forget the power behind the waves. The temptation is always to get as close as possible to that wonderful raw energy...especially when you have a camera in your hands!!

Norah Head looking east at sunset.
I was very conscious of the waves crashing behind me while I was photographing the sunset over Norah Head lighthouse. As I was turning frequently, I noticed the sky start lighting up behind me as well.
I decided to turn around and take advantage of it. Just as well - as I turned around the largest wave yet got closer than any before it.
Watching my back paid off in more ways that one.

Purple Coral Pea Flowers
Looks like a "Big Bird" in Sesame Street to me ^^
The flowers are actually very tiny.
Comparison with a bee as below.
You could say the bee is ginormous.
That's how you look at.
On a falling tide in the Mersey estuary one of Antony Gormley's cast-iron statues, a few hours ago semi-submerged, stands watch as a ferry departs the port of Liverpool and heads out towards the Irish Sea and its destination, Dublin.
The vessel is the 'Victorine', a roll-on, roll-off type that mostly caters for commercial trucks. It's a leisurely journey over too with the 5.30pm departure from Liverpool turning in to a 3.30am arrival at the Irish port - presumably to allow plenty of time for drivers to get their regulation rest before heading off to their next destination.
Per the Liverpool Biennial website:
Antony Gormley’s installation comprises 100 cast-iron life-size sculptures made from 17 different moulds taken from the sculptor’s own body, installed on Crosby Beach on the Mersey Estuary. The 'iron men' all face the open sea, and evoke the relationship between the natural elements, space and the human body. ‘Another Place’ covers a distance of almost 3km, with the pieces placed 250m apart along the tide line, and up to 1km out towards the horizon. The movement of local tides and daily weather conditions dictate whether the figures are visible or submerged. It has become one of the most well-loved and widely recognised public art works in the UK.
From personal experience, and with the huge cranes of the Port of Liverpool out of sight on my left, it's a surreal and magical place. By my reckoning, 11 of the men can be seen in this shot. Unsurprisingly, given the salty atmosphere and conditions, the statues have started corroding to varying degrees, which surely adds further to their appeal.

This picture is for the group Happy Caturday and this week the theme is "Poem or Book".
Watchers by Dean Koontz is my favorite book by him. I think my favorite thing about the book is that the Golden Retriever (named Einstein) is able to communicate with people! :)
Dean Koontz is definitely my favorite author.
