The Wedging Titeseal® Slide Gate is commonly used as an emergency shutoff gate. Developed and patented by John Vitas at Plasti-Fab, it is the tightest sealing slide gate available on the market today. The Wedging Titeseal® design is capable of reaching extremely low leakage rates: less than 100 cc/min/foot of wetted perimeter. This is 4 to 5 times lower leakage than permitted by AWWA C-501, and applies to both seating and unseating heads. In actual practice, the Wedging Titeseal Gates have been adjusted to the point of being nearly drip-tite. To avoid spillover, the size and placement of the gate must accomodate the highest expected containment level.

Water diverted from the nala is fed through these bar screens to filter out trash. The trash is manually removed by 4 persons during the day, and 2 during the night. This is filthy and dangerous work, that -at least at this plant- is carried out with integrity

In March 2017, a team of water experts from São Tomé and Príncipe and Comoros travelled to Cabo Verde to meet national representatives from the water sector and exchanges best practices in the field of water management. The National Agency for Water and Sanitation of Cabo Verde (ANAS) hosted the programme. The main outcome was the consensus by the team of Comoros and São Tomé and Príncipe to create a national legal mechanism to finance investment in the water sector based on what was done in Cabo Verde.

H flumes are well known by soil and agricultural agencies that have used them to monitor field runoff and study water shed drainage. For the past 20 years Plasti-Fab H flumes have been successfully used in the sanitary field to measure storm water, effluent and sewage streams having very broad flow ranges that otherwise would be difficult or impossible to measure in other types of flumes.
Plasti-Fab fiberglass Stop Logs come standard with 1 1/2" round stainless steel lifting pins that work in conjunction with our galvanized steel lifting beam. The lifting beam is built to automatically latch on to the stop log when lowered into the guide frame. The beam is released from the log by a simple tug on a rope tag line.

The Plasti-Fab Heavy Duty Titeseal Copolymer Slide Gate is a non-metallic, corrosion resistant gate that provides the engineer with a superior alternative to stainless steel and cast iron slide gates, often called sluice gates. It is designed to handle high head applications of 10 feet or more in seating or unseating service. The guide includes a top closure bar that allows the gate to seal around all four sides. A wedging bar and adjustable wedging bolts allow the leakage rate to be adjusted to the lowest possible levels. Cast-in wall thimbles are not required. The molded fiberglass gate cover totally encapsulates an internal steel structural matrix, and has no seams, joints or cut edges. The result is a lightweight gate that has excellent corrosion resistance and can be designed to handle aggressive flow stream conditions and higher applied heads.
This trash should not have reached the treatment units. Its presence indicates that either the drum screens are faulty, or they are being bypassed. Considering that the unit was inoperational at the time of the visit, the latter seems likely.

The Plasti-Fab FRP stop log is constructed of a copolymer composite totally encapsulating an internal reinforcing structure. Typical log thickness is 2 1/2’’ to 6 1/2’’. The structure has no seams or joints thus assuring fluid tight integrity. It is highly corrosion resistant, weather resistant, and requires little or no maintenance. The exterior surface is smooth and flat.
The Plasti-Fab FRP Rotating Scum Skimmer is designed for rectangular basins. Typical sizes range from 6 ft. to 20 ft. in length, and 6 inches to 18 inches in diameter. Most are manually operated with a lever arm. A handwheel or electric operator are available options. Normal maintenance consists of routine plant washdown.
Wooden stop logs were used before our grand-fathers were born, why not today? Wood swells as it takes on moisture, and the ends are easily damaged after which decay may start. After only 11 months of operation, the infrastructure is already badly rusted due to the gaseous emissions
The Plasti-Fab Flap Gate's molded body of reinforced copolymer has a 125 lb. pattern flange and a molded neoprene flap which also acts as a hinge. The flexible flap with molded-in weight reduces the possibility of pounding which is often a problem on valves having metal to metal seats. Body flanges can be drilled to accept standard bolt sizes when connecting to pipe flanges or can be drilled for smaller bolts when they are to be fastened directly to wall surfaces. We have three different kinds of flap gates. Our Rigid Round Flap Gates run in sizes from 4" to 96", Rectangular Flap Gates range from 12" t0 96" and our Flexible Rectangular Flap Gates range from 36" to 96".
