No landed aliens, though. These are the sewage digestion tanks of the wastewater treatent plant Gut Großlappen, behind the A9 Autobahn.

In these digestion tanks, each 14,500 cubic metres huge, the previously thickened waste sludge is fermented in absence of oxygen for approximately 20 days at 38 °C, producing combustible biogas.

. . . With cold weather finally coming, the geese are headed south, and hopefully Snowy Owls will arrive soon! If you want to see hundreds of geese on the ground and in the air, the wastewater treatment facility in Muskegon is the place to be.

Have a great weekend Facebook and Flickr friends!

Snapped this tiny bird (warbler?) today near the Crystal Beach Wastewater Pumping Station in Nepean (Ottawa), Ontario, Canada.

Sadly, as much as I love all creatures big and small, and especially the winged ones, I have no idea as to what this beautiful bird is known as. Yet such a delight for it to rest for just a tad bit so that I was able to photograph it.

Thanks to fellow Flickr member and photographer in my neck of the woods, Roger Daigle, who is big time into birding, he confirmed that this is an American Redstart. Kudos Roger!

This was a couple of large industrial ventilation fans sitting on pallets in a garage at a construction job site. The name is just my adolescent association of anything yellow with urine, . . . :D

. . . The other morning at the Muskegon Wastewater plant, I had the sun behind me and this male Northern Shoveler swimming right towards me! The light in his eye and the reflection was all I could ask for!

Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!

Although the sign on this outdoor structure hints at a science-fiction adventure, the reality is that it is part of a sprawling wastewater treatment plant. NO FURTHER INVESTIGATION NECESSARY.

Greetings to OKO team ;)

. . . At least not the kind of birds I was looking for! When you go out to the Muskegon Wastewater Treatment Plant, some days you take what you can get, especially this winter!
