This is the front façade of the Greater New Hope Baptish Church in Washington DC. Established in 1933 as the New Hope Baptist Mission in Washington DC and congregated at various locations before permanently moving to this historic location on 8th Street Northwest DC near Chinatown in 1953. The beautiful temple had been a temple to the Washington Hebrew Congregation which was Washington DC’s oldest Jewish congregation formed and organized in 1852 associated with Reform Judaism mostly of German descent. This congregation dedicated this Hebrew 8th Street Temple in 1898 with US President William McKinley attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the temple that was loosely fashioned after the Berlin Synagogue (1866) and Dresden Synagogue (1840), the Dresden built by Gottfried Semper where one large central dome is flanked by two smaller pavilion domes flanking the central structure. The 8th Street Temple’s domes are no longer on the building and where central stained-glass with the Star of David was replaced with a beautiful stained-glass window with cross and the inscription “There is Hope” which is what this image has captured. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotoweek @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot @visitwashingtondc

In 1938 after growing tired of what seemed like an endless debate about where to locate the new airport for Washington DC, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt actually declared in his statement that he was “tired of waiting for Congress” and announced the site of the new airport would be mudflat bend on the Potomac in Alexandria. After much of the airport had to be landfilled, it opened in 1941 as Washington National Airport. In 1998 President Bill Clinton signed bill introduced by US Congress to rename the airport Ronald Reagan National Airport after the former President. This image of said airport captured on the Ronald Reagan National Airport Metro Platform in the early morning hours just after dawn.

Built over 83 years of construction, Washington National Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece designed to point eyes and hearts toward things above. It’s a thoroughly American interpretation of 14th Century English Gothic, assembled using Old World techniques to nurture a mission for the 21st Century.

Ja so kennen wir New York ebenfalls, von den unzähligen Sitcoms und Liebesfilmen aus dem Fernsehen.

Yes we also know New York, from the countless sitcoms and romantic films from television.

Somewhere in Washington

While the wildflowers in eastern Washington bloom mostly in the spring, there are a few around in autumn. I have no idea who this plant is, but their flowers are a dull yellowish.

In some places they were vibrant against the darker browns of the autumn Palouse.

Jacob’s Ladder refers to a 300-foot section of railroad track that is a 37% grade or an elevation change of 37 feet for every 100 feet travel above the tree line on 6,288-foot Mount Washington in New Hampshire, the highest peak in the Northeast United States. There are three ways to get to the summit of Mount Washington, the famous 8-mile Mount Washington Auto Road, physically scaling/hiking the mountain and lastly the also famous Mount Washington Cog Railway. The big blue building is called The Doupé building, a historic landmark. I really liked the character of this small Washington town. It has a lovely harbor and a couple of Lighthouses close by.
