#3 of my mini series from work at the Olympiastadion Berlin. You can find #2 in the fifth comment (I was too slow), and if you take a closer look at the previous image, you can also see the barrier tape in that photo. The worker on the cherry picker was doing something (I never found out what) on the ceiling of the upper collonade. I have photoGRIIIphed him up there as well, but I might postpone that (and more) image(s) from the Olympiastadion until next year. Since Christmas season will start with the first of Advent in only a week (time flies, just like the barrier tape in this shot), I think I will upload a few Christmassy- or festive-looking images now, images that I've wanted to upload for ages (previous December, December before previous December), but somehow never did ;)

HSS, Everyone!

Nr. 3 meiner kleinen "Arbeits"serie vom Berliner Olympiastadion.

hi, I am three weeks away

Wieder mal perfekt gesichert, da kann wirklich nichts passieren

On August 23, 2011, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake centered in Virginia rocked the Philadelphia, Washington, and Annapolis area. Fortunately, Storm Brothers Ice Cream Factory is still around! Unfortunately for us, Storm Bros. was closed the day after the earthquake when we were in the area.

FRAGILE, BROKEN, WET - Thanks Hermes.

I rarely get angry but I am today.

HERMES - "Messenger of the Gods with winged shoes"

The Hermes Courier dropped a parcel clearly marked "FRAGILE" over a locked rear gate. The gate is 2 metres high.

The parcel landed on the concrete patio slabs in the rain, bounced and did not survive the 2 metre drop.

What part of "FRAGILE" did the courier not understand?

It was also raining, so the parcel and contents were soaked.

The Hermes Courier politely told me on the card "Your parcel was delivered OVER THE GATE". Cheers Bud. Insult to injury springs to mind.

The highly coloured warning tape marked "FRAGILE" clearly was not legible or relevant to the Hermes courier.

I need a large coffee with lots of caffeine and several deep breaths.

Customer Service clearly not a high priority in this case.

Nothing left to go wrong on this one.

The situation is so incredibly stupid, deeply frustrating and time wasting for so many people to put it right, you have to laugh at it.

Life really is stranger than fiction.

UPDATE:-

I have been promised a refund by the seller. I hope they claim back from Hermes.

Black & Yellow Warning Tape

#streetphotography

Back in the Spring, I was visiting the Pier 9 area of Hamilton, Ontario’s waterfront on Burlington Bay in anticipation of the (then) upcoming demolition of the red warehouse structure to make way for housing. I stumbled onto this abstract composition and elected to do a tight crop/framing to get what I felt was the best use of the warning tape on the safety barrier. Shortly thereafter the entire structure was leveled and the area is now awaiting redevelopment. And, of course, Red Rule applies. - JW

Tucked in as the 3rd unit (and running still), GTW 4622 was sporting some visible scars on the engineer's side-rear ladder. On Tuesday February 8, 2011 I thought I overheard L595 indicate they had a run-in with some timbers at a private crossing somewhere in the neighborhood of Waupaca. None of the crew was injured thankfully, and this should be easily fixed.
