The names appear to have been listed randomly, not in alphabetical order, not by the date of death, not by rank. It seems a fitting way to honour these men, most of whom were ordinary chaps who wouldn't have thought of joining the army in peace time. One died as a prisoner of war in Germany.

A fierce battle took place around the small village of Stonne, south of Sedan in eastern France. German panzers took heavy losses against the French tanks but this one action was too little to throw the German forces back across the Meuse river. Nearby is a WWII Char B 1bis tank.

The Overloon War Museum is located in Overloon, Netherlands. The museum was opened on May 25th 1946, making it one of the oldest museums in Europe dedicated to the Second World War. The museum is located on the site of the Battle of Overloon, a World War II tank and infantry battle between Allied and German forces that occurred in September and October 1944, in the aftermath of Operation Market Garden.
The museum is set in 14 hectares of woodland. A feature of the museum is the large number of military vehicles and equipment on display, both German and Allied. For years these have been kept in the open air, but have recently been moved indoors in order to help preserve them. Many of the exhibited vehicles took part in the Battle of Overloon. In 2006 the collection was expanded with a large number of vehicles from a private collection.

A significant war memorial from the 1920s by the sculptor Mortimer Brown. The monument consists of a bronze figure of a soldier atop with three panels of low relief sculpture below showing aviators, sailors and one depicting two women in uniform. The summit figure is shown marching forward, waving his hat in one hand, rifle in the other, returning home victorious. There is a sense of movement in the figure, his coat swirling open, and with a jauntiness of stride. The soldier is shown smiling, always difficult in sculpture. With acknowledgement to Bob Speel's website for the above (edited) description of the memorial.
President Ronald Reagan addresses a meeting of the National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia. Attendees include relatives of prisoners of war and those missing in action. This special meeting observes the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Paris agreement to end the US involvement in the Vietnam conflict.

Walk inside the Virginia War Memorial and you enter hallowed ground. For here on its soaring glass and marble walls are the names of more than 11,600 Virginia heroes who gave their lives to keep our country free. Its reason for being and its effect on those who view its hallowed walls and artifacts. Located overlooking historic Richmond business district and the James River, the War Memorial was created by the Virginia General Assembly to honor Virginia's war dead.
On 2 April 1982, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, a remote UK colony in the South Atlantic. The move led to a brief, but bitter war.
Argentina's military junta hoped to restore its support at a time of economic crisis, by reclaiming sovereignty of the islands. It said it had inherited them from Spain in the 1800s and they were close to South America.
The UK, which had ruled the islands for 150 years, quickly chose to fight. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said the 1,800 Falklanders were "of British tradition and stock". A task force was sent to reclaim the islands, 8,000 miles away.
In the fighting that followed, 655 Argentine and 255 British servicemen lost their lives, as did three Falkland Islanders

The War Room by Cornelia Parker is an installation in an exhibition of her work at Tate Britain. It is a tent made using the waste material from making the Remembrance Day poppies. The poppies are punched out of long strips of red paper. The floor is brown wood but has been coloured red by the reflected light.
