A grey day out behind Walmart. The lights up on the rise belong to the neighboring high school football stadium.
This store was subdivided by Walmart. No other tenant ever filled up the right half of the building.
Black Friday at the local Walmart.
Generations of shoppers sharing materialism.
It's a learned disease.
Part of the Walmart(ian) set.
Pick up counter at Walmart Supercenter in Temecula, California (Formerly the store's Fred Loya Insurance office) so now the buy online orders are picked up here outfront instead of at the back by the photo department.
(Sorry I haven't as active as I was before, I've been busy at work plus our truck is been in the shop so the family has to share my grandparent's sedan so I can't go places that often, I will try and be more active, also I recently got a new phone so I this is the trial picture!)

This is Walmart Supercenter # 4350 at 200 Old Fairgrounds Way in Kilmarnock, VA.
Despite opening in 2007, this store feels a smaller than a traditional Supercenter, and lacks a Tire Center. This is the only Walmart store in Virginia's Northern Neck.
On our camping trip to Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park, we made several stops along the way.
This is the bridge over the Colorado River just west of the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Page is in the distance. The green area is the Page golf course. The picture is taken through the glass of the Carl Hayden Visitor Center. When I took the photo I did not notice the smudge on the glass. Oh well, maybe I'll get a better photo next time.

The Glen Canyon Bridge or Glen Canyon Dam Bridge is a steel arch bridge in Coconino County, Arizona, carrying U.S. Route 89 across the Colorado River. The bridge was originally built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to facilitate transportation of materials for the Glen Canyon Dam, which lies adjacent to the bridge just 865 feet (264 m) upstream. Carrying two lanes, the bridge rises over 700 feet (210 m) above the river and was the highest arch bridge in the world at the time of its completion in 1959.[1]

And that wraps up my photoset from the Raleigh-LaGrange Road Walmart's grand opening day, on grand opening day! Look forward to more pics from here in the immediate future, followed by plenty more at a TBD, likely much-later date. For now, here's a shot of Walmart's new exterior color scheme gracing their new exterior build. Inside and out (and not just décor-wise), I was very impressed with this store!
Tomorrow – pics from the S Perkins no-longer-Kroger...

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
New Walmart opening soon in the Fellowship section of Mt. Laurel, NJ. This latest building architecture looks a lot better than their first boxy looking stores here in the 1990s, Even some use of architectural stone to dress it up.
This is the Wal-Mart department store located at 210 Black Gold Blvd in the Black Gold Plaza shopping center in Hazard, KY. It originally opened on April 3, 1989, and was remodeled and expanded alongside the Wal-Mart store in adjacent Whitesburg, KY. In doing so, this store not only received more sales space as well as a larger pharmacy (which the store has always had since its 1989 grand opening), but for a few years in the '90s, the snack bar was converted to a McDonald's restaurant (it would revert to a Radio Grill by 1999). Also, this store eventually adopted expanded hours due to continued success twice: from 2000 to 2002, it was open from 6:00 AM to midnight daily, and from 2002 onward, it would be open 24/7, one of the few non-Supercenters in the area at the time to have such hours. It would relocate to a Supercenter at 120 Daniel Boone Plaza in Hazard on April 15, 2004, leaving this building vacant until 2007, when Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), which owns and operates the city's hospital, purchased the building and converted it into a large outpatient clinic.

New paint job. Still first gen project impact inside.
Compare this to the previous beige paint scheme.
Walmart location Pana Illinois. Store does not look like a standard Walmart but like it moved into an old grocery store.
This Walmart in Shepherdsville, Kentucky was opened on March 25, 2015 and has a Walmart gas station.

This Walmart Supercenter opened in 2001 as an original anchor of Washington Towne Centre. This store is also one of the first “Supercenter” stores in Erie County.

This store is one of the few supercenter stores closed in the January 2016 Walmart store closing wave. There were 269 stores closed (154 in the U.S.). Of those closings only 12 were Supercenter stores. The closing wave included mostly smaller stores like Neighborhood market and Walmart Express.
This is an approximately 192,000 square foot Walmart store that opened on August 26, 2009. This is the Hartland, Michigan location I'll post the pictures of the closed Bedford, Ohio Supercenter as well within a couple weeks after finishing the Hartland pictures. These and many of my Bedford pictures are currently floating around elsewhere online.
I believe the big box retailers were overly ambitious when they built up at the intesection of U.S. 23 and Highland Road. Due to the recession, a lot of developement due to happen around this intesection never happened. Target doesn't seem to be doing that well either here. Meijer is the only store that looked like it was doing well in the area. Then again, the Meijer locations around here seem distributed weirdly. There are three Meijer stores on Highland Road within 20 miles of each other yet Fenton (a decent sized city to the north) does not have a Meijer. Both Walmart and Target have stores in Fenton though, so I wonder how many people come from Fenton to go to the Hartland Meijer. I also imagine the grocery section at this Walmart contributed to its closure. When I was at this store, I noticed a bunch of grocery items, on the shelves, that were months expired. I doubt Meijer lets that happen as much. Since Meijer is a Michigan based company, they probably have a more loyal following in the area to begin with.

Store 2152. This store opened on May 17, 1994 as a Division 1 store, solely on the upper level of then-newly built Crossgates Commons. In 2008, the store expanded into the former Sam's Club (closed in 2006) space on the lower level of the shopping center, becoming a 2-floor Walmart Supercenter. This store is currently the largest Walmart in the United States, at 260,000 square feet.
I went to this store with a group of other retail photographers. I only took two photos of the store at the time. If you want to see more photos of this store, another photographer took some more. www.flickr.com/photos/fourstarcashiernathan/albums/721576...
I know Walmart has had plans to re-located both Walmart and Sam's Club closer to Interstate 77 for a while but it seems like the plans are constantly getting postponed. I am not sure if the plans ever went through; I still have never heard anything about construction starting on the new stores although Walmart owns that property.
