One of two halls Exhibition Hall that flank the World War I Memorial Tower in Kansas City Missouri at dusk. The limestone exterior which is bountiful in this part of the country was designed by New York architect Harold Van Buren Magonigle in a classical Egyptian revival style in remembrance of the war to end all wars. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @visitkc @wwiimemorial #omd #microfourthirds #micro43photography
A beautiful dusk sky reflecting upon the glass skylights of the World War 1 Museum in Kansas City Missouri this past week where I & my lovely damsel arrived for a week to support an effort at a lab across the border in Kansas. The World War I Museum is the largest WWI museum in the United States with a remarkable collection of WWI artifacts on display which is situated beneath the massive World War I Memorial. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @visitkc @visitmo @wwiimemorial #omd #microfourthirds #micro43photography #sunsets #sunsetphotography
The World War I monument and museum in Kansas City Missouri opened in 1926 but the location was dedicated in 1921 with over 200,000 in attendance. Amongst the honored guests were then U.S. vice president Calvin Coolidge & the main Allied commanders of the great war Lieutenant General Baron Jacques of Belgium; General Armando Diaz of Italy; Marshal Ferdinand Foch of France; General John J. Pershing of the United States; and Admiral Lord David Beatty of Great Britain. As luck or fate depending on how you roll would have it this particular dedication ceremony would be attended by not one but two future United States President, the first being the sitting vice president Calvin Coolidge and the second a Kanas City Haberdasher a WWI veteran hailing from the Kansas City suburb of Independence who was chosen to present the flags to Allied commanders Harry S. Truman. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @wwiimemorial @visitkc @visitmissour @visitmo #omd #microfourthirds #micro43photography #micro43
The War to End All Wars is how World War I was often referred to, I image when the World War I Memorial opened in 1926 that everyone who was there including US President Calvin Coolidge genuinely believed that, not knowing that a Second World War would occur is what really was a short time span afterwards. Regardless the WW I Memorial and Museum perched on a hill above Kansas Cities Historic Union Station overlooking the Kansas City Missouri skyline is a marvelous structure. This view with the dusk skies I was able to capture while capturing images of the skyline because my ever vigilant sweet damsel spotted the wonderful contrast of the lighted monument against the sky of dusk. My sweet lady has a wonderful photographic eye and for that & many many other wonderful things I feel fortunate and blessed to have her in my life. This image from yesterday evening in Kansas City Missouri. - [x] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @kehcamera @mpbcom @visitkc @visitmo @wwiimemorial #omd #microfourthirds #micro43photography #wwimemorial

After midnight panorama at the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. The pano is four frames wide and three rows high. I edited it in PTGui.
This memorial in Green Park, London, commemorates the crews of RAF Bomber Command that embarked on missions during the Second World War. The memorial was built to mark the sacrifice of 55,573 aircrew from Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Czechoslovakia and other allied countries, as well as civilians of all nations killed during raids. Queen Elizabeth II unveiled the memorial on June 28, 2012, in the year of her Diamond Jubilee.
Stationary and moving war memorials meet in Buffalo, IA as CP 6644 creeps CPKC train 781 northbound on the slow track in Buffalo, IA on the CPKC Ottumwa Subdivision. 781 is a loaded autorack train full of Toyota Tacomas that came out of the heart of Mexico, bound for Bensenville, IL. It's thought that these trains may become more frequent as 180/181 continue seeing container traffic grow, making those trains too long to facilitate the large cut of racks that've been a staple of their existence for the past 2 years. Taken on 6/24/25.
The World War II Memorial is a national memorial dedicated to Americans who served in the armed forces and as civilians during World War II. It is on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The Memorial consists of 56 pillars, representing U.S. states and territories, and a pair of small triumphal arches for the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, surrounding an oval plaza and fountain. It replaced the former site of the Rainbow Pool at the eastern end of the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. Its initial design was submitted by Austrian-American architect Friedrich St. Florian.
The Memorial opened on April 29, 2004 and was dedicated by President George W. Bush on May 29, 2004.

Unlike your car's rear view mirror, objects on the National Mall are often much further than they appear in photos (or when you are walking). Here you see a fountain at the WWII Memorial and the Washington Monument. There's about 1,500 ft between the two (the length of 5 football fields).
Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service
of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our
undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.
