This one looks similar to the Atlantis Fritillary I posted recently, but the Aphrodite has brown eyes while the Atlantis has blue/gray eyes.

The Aphrodite Fritillary is wide-ranging from Georgia and Tennessee north to the Maritimes and Quebec, west to Brirish Columbia and south in the Rocky Mountains to Colorado. It inhabits riparian forests, aspen woodlands,Jack Pine forests, and native prairie grassland. (Alberta Butterflies)

The West Job is seen bringing up the markers of the SU-99 to give them the needed horsepower to make it up the step grades of the Southern Division.

On January 6, 1986 CR Albany Division local WA-WS-5 with B23-7 1990 is headed west on the 'Boston Line' about to hit the diamond with the CV. On the right CV train 562 with GP-9 4445 is starting the days work. This is one of those shots that would not work well with the sun out, as it would be right in your face. A light snowfall adds a little to this dark and dreary morning.

WS-5 makes it out of MC Yard in time for the sun to still cast a small amount of sunshine on the train. The WS-5 with SD45-2 3618 is crossing over the Hackensack River Bridge, which is the farthest north the Hackensack River is considered "navigable".

NYS&W WS-5 pulls out two cars from Riverdale Transfer Yard with both of the railroad's SD33ECO units. #3016 was built in January 1979 as Southern Pacific SD40T-2 8542. Waiting patiently at the crossing is a Cadillac El Dorado built in 1973. It was quite a sight to see two American products of the 1970s meet up in the small Northern New Jersey town.

A Sunday extra Sparta turn is seen crossing the Hackensack River into Hackensack with the returning SD45 #3618 leading the way west.

The original plan for July 6th was for the #3618 to lead the SU-99 west out of New Jersey. However after the train was cut from 100 cars to about 20 due to the Syracuse bridge collapse, 3618 and 3806 were cut off the train and left behind in Jersey for the weekend. Seen here is WS-5 building their train at sunset before heading to PC Yard.

WS-5 spots up Dirty Dirt cars at ACE in Maywood, NJ with SD45-2 3618. From this angle you can see the BN Cascade Green peeling through the NYSW paint. Rumor has it that the contract to transload dirty dirt is almost up, meaning that this industry will dry up and not receive cars unless someone new comes in. After driving over this scene hundreds of times, I am satisfied that I finally glassed a train on this lead after years of meaning to.

As promised, I've shared this brand new artwork with all of the members here, at DTMH-Social, located at social.deartomyheart.com sharing this new artwork I’ve just finished. It’s called “The Old Dock”. Who says you can’t have a green sky! Well, it’s actually more of a Teal shade or color.. As may know, I've also dabbled in photography. If you change your cameras white balance settings, you can tone the photos colors scheme towards whatever hue or color that you desire. Although, this image is not at all photography! It was rendered on my custom built digital art workstation using Bryce 7.1 Pro. Anyway, I do hope you like this one, I’ve never had a pelican in my work before, so this is the first time… Thank you for looking! About 24 hours after leading local WS-5 over Sparta Mountain, NYS&W SD45-2 #3618 leads road train SU-99 up the hill at Newfoundland. Due to a bridge outage in Syracuse, NY, the train is carrying SuitKote cars that would usually come from up north. The normal CSX interchange freight is running over CSX until the bridge can be repaired.

Just behind the power is the Newfoundland station, where much of the film "The Station Agent" was filmed in 2002.

The Susquehanna ran an extra Sunday "super local" from Little Ferry to Sparta across the Southern Division. This is uncommon in itself, but what made it even more noteworthy was the fact that SD45-2 #3618 was leading the way west. At the beginning of the journey, the train crosses the Hackensack River, viewed from a crane on the former Bergen Record Building.

Shockingly the train ran all the way to Sparta in perfect sunlight, making only one short stop at Pompton Junction. A miracle indeed.

A year ago on this day, NYS&W WS-5 made a rare afternoon Sunday run with SD45-2 #3618 leading the way to Sparta Junction. The train runs parallel to Cozy Lake Road while making easy work out of Sparta Mountain with a short train of sugar cars for the junction. A truly excellent day with full sun, followed by an even better one the next day when the 3618 would lead up the SU-99 to Binghamton.

We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
