Four different generations of trains at Belfast Central: 450 "Castle" Class no. 8453 Moiry Castle, C3K 3021, De Dietrich 9001 and the 1879 built steam locomotive No. 186.

Apparently this was U.S. News & World Report photographer Thomas J. O'Halloran's third prize winning photo, in the "PICTORIAL" category. I'm assuming for 1962. Possibly something internal to USN&WR? Maybe even something larger, like an Associated Press competition?! Pretty cool.

Washington Post obituary, November 22, 2000. A full life, rest in peace Sir:
“Thomas J. O'Halloran, 78, who worked for U.S. News & World Report for 35 years before retiring in 1986 as chief photographer, died of congestive heart failure Nov. 18 at his home in College Park.
Mr. O'Halloran was a native Washingtonian and a graduate of Gonzaga College High School. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Forces in Europe, where he helped set up photographic equipment in bombers.
He joined Harris & Ewing portrait studio in Washington after the war, then began his career at U.S. News & World Report as a staff photographer in 1951.
He was a member of the White House News Photographers Association and the National Press Photographers Association. He also was a longtime member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Hyattsville and was a supporter of the building of its new church, which was dedicated last year.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Alice M. O'Halloran of College Park, and four children, Michael P. O'Halloran of Dayton, Sean P. O'Halloran of Baltimore, Brendan J. O'Halloran of Rockville and Mary Alice O'Halloran of Arlington.”
The following is must see. “Right Stuff” epitomized. Look at his face & eyes. Listen to the intonation of his voice. There was a pretty damned good chance he was going to die during reentry, which he was well aware of. Amazing, a GENUINE HERO:

In september 1978 NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Railways in the Netherlands) introduced a 'fast' and comfortable train between Heerlen in the southeast of the country, and The Hague. The NS rented Corail coaches from the SNCF and used a WR-coach for the catering. The train made a round trip a day from monday to friday starting in Heerlen.
Saturday August 11, 1979 WR 4246 between Corail coaches is waiting for the next service.
Astra in Romania has built WR 4246 in 1943.

Every GCR gala for some years now. If there has been two locos facing in opposite directions and passing in close proximity of each other. I have always tended to try a Photoshop mock up of them passing each other.
With two Western region locos doing exactly this at Kinchley lane towards the end of yesterday. I thought it would be rude not to. Hall class No. 6990 "Witherslack Hall" "passing" 66xx class 6695 both on passenger duties. I have also changed livery of the 66xx class to match the period of the Halls livery.
TRRA slug 307 leads the 104 Job onto the Engineer's Lead at WR Tower. The 26 car cut of pipe loads is strung out across the UP Springfield Sub and NS Brooklyn District. 104 would have to make a cut and shove twice into the Port Harbor connection due to the short length of the Engineer's Lead - a necessary evil if the NS cannot give them a poke on the lead to AO Smith Yard.
Thanks to MM for the heads up on this move. If I remember correctly, the pipe originated at a facility in Canada on CP, was interchanged to KCS at Kansas City then given to the TRRA at Madison Yard for the final delivery to the Port Harbor Railroad at Granite City.

Very much on home turf is this battery electric locomotive. It was built by Wingrove and Rogers Ltd. of Kirkby, near Liverpool, who were the succesors to British Electric Vehicles Ltd. of Churchtown, Southport. It is works number C6765/1963 and is now residing at the West Lancashire Light Railway, where it arrived in May 2016. Previously, it was at Llechwedd Slate Quarry Tours, Blaenau Ffestiniog.

WR-40 Langusta is a Polish self-propelled multiple rocket launcher developed by Centrum Produkcji Wojskowej HSW SA. The first 32 units of the WR-40 entered service in 2010. The Langusta is based on a deeply modernized Soviet BM-21 launcher. The carrier used is a 6x6 Jelcz truck model P662D.35 with armoured crew-cabin.
