One of the truly contemplative places on this Earth. I tried to give the sense that the harshness of the sun and exposure almost gives a slightly bleached feeling to the scene, and that apart from the indigenous owners human occupancy is a tenuous thing.

Garden of the Gods is a 1,367 acre city park in Colorado Springs filled with beautiful rock formations. It has 21 miles of trails and is popular for hiking, rock climbing, biking and horseback riding. The main walking trail is 1.5 miles long, paved, and it goes through the heart of the park's largest and most scenic red rocks. The park attracts over two million visitors a year.
The land was bought in 1879 by a local businessman. After his death in 1909, his family donated the land to the City of Colorado Springs with the provision that it would always be a free public park. In 1971 it was designated as a National Natural Landmark.

One of the wooden paths of the forest. Any day is the perfect time for a walk in the woods. Sweet Arrow Lake is one of my favorite places to walk in nature.
