Hard at work designing the next level of SkyPort Bury in NeoExtropia!
NeoExtropia is a new science fiction-themed world built by Grace and Kassi Aeon.
This world is guided by three core ideas:
*Technology uplifts rather than oppresses.,
*Identity is fluid, expansive, and celebrated.,
*Exploration—of space, self, and society."
“Out here in Hibernia, we repurpose all sorts of machinery for work on the newest frontier. This laser-powered mining vehicle is an ex-military laser mounted on an old mechanised infantry support vehicle that last saw action in the Summer Colony uprising. The powerful laser cuts through the icy rock like a knife through butter, while the caterpillar track base is rugged and near indestructible, making vehicles like this the backbone of the vehicle pool in Hibernia mining operations.”

Hibernia is an awesome new worldbuilding collaboration started by some really talented builders. Really excited to join and start building. Imagine OG 50s sci fi/Tintin vibes meets Titanfall meets original Lego aesthetic.
Feeling crazy inspired - big stuff is coming!
I have unfortunately not had time to post on Flickr about my current Burn2 build while the main parts of the event (this past weekend) were still running. The build will remain up until this-coming Sunday though, so it's not too late to come visit if you like. Several people will have their builds up through this week, and there will still be some events, so there is much to see. :)
The current Burn2 theme is "Clockwork Frontier", though I went a little loose with my interpretation. My build is inspired by what came *after* the frontier times in America: the dust bowl era of the 1930s and 1940s. One of the photographers who captured it, Dorothea Lange, also became a large part of the inspiration for my build and my avatar. The cabin is a small gallery of some of her dust bowl photos, as well as a couple photos of Dorothea herself, taken by others.
If you are unfamiliar with the dust bowl, it took place in some parts of the middle of the country during the great depression. Lots of people had moved to parts of Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico in the 1890s in search of prosperity. Many were given government grants to set up homestead farms, and it was great in the beginning. Their farming practices and the ever-changing weather in the region combined to create a massive problem after a while, though. By the 1930s, the rains stopped coming. The soil became arid, and could no longer support the agriculture people had moved there for. The once-fruitful soils dried out and blew away, and contributed to massive dust storms which only intensified problems for the people there. A lot of folks suffered immeasurably in America during the great depression, and few places were hit harder than the dust bowl regions. It would later come to represent the tragedy of that time period as a whole.
If you'd like to learn more about the dust bowl, there are signs on both support posts on either side of the porch that link to videos about it. There's also a free gift in one of the grain sacks that contains the sky setting intended for this build (the one you can see in the photo). I made it extra dusty.
Here's what I used to make this build (that you can see or mostly see):
The shack/cabin: DRD - Hunters Retreat - Cabin
Windmill: Mansion creations - Antique Windmill
Fencing: This and That - rope fence
Barrel: [ Cabal ] - Water Barrel
Table: ~Nika & Bear~ - Garden table with box and soil
Grain sacks (retextured by me): Wolves Virtual Project - WVP FULL PERM Mesh: 3 sacks of wheat
Signs on the support beams on either side of the porch (sign portion textured by me): DRD - GG - Rustic Halloween boards (unlinked to use one of the boards)
Flag (retextured by me with a 1930s American flag -- only 48 stars back then): F-Factory - Waving flag: USA
Land form #1 (retextured): Little Branch - Young Tibetan Cherry - 4Seasons - Hill landform from this pack
Land form #2 (retextured): Studio Skye - Woodland Path
Crop rows: T-Spot Mesh - Dirt Rows for Vegetable Gardens
Water pump: The Black Forest - Hand Water Pump
Longhorns: Nature's Call - Steer Horns - Brown Leather Tooled Edges
Handcart: .:shamhat:. - wooden handcart
Wagon wheels: Argyle Builders - Wagon Wheel Set
Photo frames inside the cabin: [D]oppleganger - Bitch Framed Word Art (Pearl) [tinted]

I was talkin to a friend the other day about wanting to make a mer av but not really knowing what I wanted to make. I had just shown her a recent video short from fashion designer Iris Van Herpen, wherein her models are submerged and performing in her designs underwater. Here's the video:
It's a really cool video, and the designs are fabulous. My pal agreed, and suggested I do a look inspired by something in it. I'm not really the biggest fan of the color orange, but found myself most drawn to the black and orange look. So I figured I would take the challenge of using the color orange, as well as doing orange and black and NOT making it look Halloween-y lol. This is where I landed, and I'm pretty happy with it. I like this look a lot.
Here's what I'm wearin!

"I can't wait 'til they fabricate the highway, crawling through this slurry is killing me."
"That'll never happen in our lifetime! You know the cartels don't stop bickering long enough for anything to get built."
"If they had any sense they'd finish it soon. The terraformers are in overdrive, the summers are getting longer and there's always more muck to crawl through while it's thawed."
"At least the CEO paid real money to get us some ex-military tech, built to survive. I can remember having to fix a drive chain on an old cargo rig. Back then we were in full gear too; at least these days you don't immediately suffocate outside your cabin."
"Yeah, nowadays it can take as long as 15 minutes to flatline."
"Hah! 'Travel offworld' they said... 'live in paradise' they said..."
Not the fastest vehicle by anyone's metric, auger drives are still a common sight because of their all-weather, amphibious capabilities. Corporations like Providence often procure their fleets from military fabricators, which they utilise in maintaining their vast terraformer facilities.

My entry for category "Old but Gold" of the Guilds of Historica 10th Anniversary contest. This one is a tribute to my first GoH build, which started the prologue story of my character's story (The Exetrius Saga). The idea of "Old but Gold" is to make a modern version of an old build, to show how much you have grown as a builder throughout the years. So compare this to the original build, way at the beginning of my photostream: flic.kr/p/uv9CDr

The World Building/Sun Tower (1912), pictured on the cover of the Vancouver Sun's 1943 Edith Adam's Wartime Cook Book.
Standing tall at 270 feet (82.3-metres), the World Building (later renamed The Sun Tower) was commissioned by L. D. Taylor to house his newspaper, The Vancouver World. The intention was that the building would be visible throughout the World's circulation area as the tallest building in the city.
Originally known as the World Building (later renamed The Sun Tower) this is one of the key heritage landmarks of early Vancouver. The epitome of style at the time, it displays a wonderful sense of time and place, with its sculpted ‘nine maidens’ and its wonderful tower and dome. Vancouver’s skyline would not be the same without it. Designed by architect W. T. Whiteway in the Beaux-Arts style, it's original cost was $375,000 when construction begun late October 1910.
When it was completed in 1912, it was the tallest building in the British Empire , standing trail at 82.3 m (270 ft), surpassing the previous record-holder, the 1910 Dominion Building located just around the corner. For two years, it was the tallest building in Canada until Toronto's 20-story Optima Business Centre opened in 1914.
When The Vancouver Sun bought the building in 1937, it was renamed. Although The Sun newspaper has long since relocated, first to South Granville then to Granville Square, the building has retained the name.
Edith Adams
The Vancouver Sun's Edith Adams was a much-loved institution for nearly three quarters of a century. Although Edith Adams was in fact a fictional persona created by The Sun, her contributions to Vancouver's kitchens and households were real. Women flocked to the Edith Adams Cottage for advice and avidly collected her cookbooks, which were compiled of readers' prize-winning recipes.
From 1947, Edith Adams even had her own ‘cottage’ adjacent to the newspaper’s building, where Vancouver residents would flock to see Marianne Linnell as ‘Edith’ demonstrate recipes.
The cover of Edith Adam’s Wartime Cook Book from 1943, was the 9th annual issue of the cookbook from the Vancouver Sun. The cover art is by Fraser Wilson, who drew comics for the Vancouver Sun and the Daily Province until 1947.
Anyone who has seen some of my aquatic sim builds (available in a convenient album here: flickr.com/photos/117704257@N03/albums/72177720298283090) knows I love me some fantasy shit. But I'm gonna surprise y'all a lil bit, because I was recently hired to build a *natural* looking aquatic sim, and I'm groovin with it. Here's part of what I have so far. Subject to change before opening, of course, but I thought I'd share where it's at right now.
Update: here's the SLURL!:

Side note: I learned the hard way that the shark I got from Inochi will totally try to kill you and then just swim away if you're in their path and you haven't turned aggression off. Evidenced here:
And also here:
I'm so glad murder is an option and not a mandate, cause they're pretty cool sharks. Maybe the mystery client will let me turn the murder back on for Halloween? Who knows!
Here are some of the items I used!

the InMotion creator asked me to build a set based off of this scene/frame from the movie Blue Is The Warmest Color, so I did!

I finally have the permission and time, at the same time, to share photos of my contribution to NatureCon 2022!
I didn't do the whole thing though, it was a collaborative effort. The glowy plants to the left were done by one of the moles (Moonstruck Mole), the glowy plants to the right were done by one of the staff for NatureCon (Soul Starlight), and I did the rest.
As I was figuring out what to build for this, I found this set of floating island pieces on marketplace. Then I figured, hey... why not do levels of floating islands and have them anchored to the ground with chains? So I did!
You'll find different stuff on each level, including this fun crystal throne that I've been using in various builds for a bit. Inside the stone circle at the bottom are four signs with links to 4 different ocean conservation groups. Each site has information on what that group does, how you can get involved, and how you can donate to their cause. They cover things like overfishing, pollution, and the ocean plastics crisis. Our fishy friends need help, so I hope you'll consider doing what you can for one of these organizations. 🐟💙

The Heavy Hauler Four Track Delivery Vehicle was initially designed for hauling bulk goods long distances using simple, easy to replace 3D printed components. Developed to be entirely domestically produced on Hibernia, it marks Jiangmen Heavy's first foray into Licensed On-Planet Production.
The vehicle has found a niche in the Hibernian economy for hauling standardized containers. Seizing on the adoption of the HPLS, or Hibernian Palletized Load System, operators of the HH4TDV have retrofitted the cargo decks to readily accept the standard containers, while retaining their nonstandardized load capabilities. As it is currently one of the highest capacity vessels on-planet, it has earned the nickname "Hibermax".

I'm pretty into 360 photos in SL, and I'm SO glad for 2 things about them. 1: the latest Firestorm release has obtained this feature (because honestly who needs the default SL viewer lol), and 2: they seem to have fixed the issue of the images pinching at the poles. Amazing.

So this was not planned, but just after editing this image, I was listening to my editing playlist and kinda randomly remembered a song I really liked in the early 2000s from a band called Something Corporate. Tune's called Punk Rock Princess, and as I was listening, I was like... wait a minute... I'M punk rock in this image! It's PERECT.
So here's my punk rock princess mermaid, chillin atop my build at NatureCon.
Oh, I never thought you'd last
I never dreamed you would
You watched your life go past
You wonder if you should
If you should be my punk rock princess
I would be your garage band king
You could tell me why you just don't fit in
And how you're gonna be something
If I could be your first real heartache
I would do it over again
If you could be my punk rock princess
I would be your heroin
Also I'm now in a Something Corporate rabbit hole and being reminded once again that the song "If You C Jordan" is still a fun jam too.
Here's what this angsty early 2000s Millennial-who-thought-she-escaped-being-emo/scene-but-probably-didn't is wearing:

“Look, I know you must have been excited to be one of the first pioneers, but tech speeding up and beating you here doesn’t mean you’ve gotta mope around and do nothing now that you caught up,” the foreman scolded as he handed over a pamphlet of maps and wiring diagrams. “The comm relay on… Busted Oil Pan Peak? Who the hell left naming geography to the settlers? Anyway the comm relay’s down. Might have been fried by a competitor or might have just been a piece of shit. Take the baserunner as close as you can get then climb the rest and assess the damage. Grab some gear, we might have three suns but cold can still get to you, and don’t make me pay to fly a replacement four light years here.”

This model has been inspired by Spirited Away. It was the first studio Ghibli movie I watched as a kid, so I need not say I was mesmerized by the beautiful animation and fantastic worldbuilding.
I was trying to encapsulate as many details from the movie as possible. Hope you will recognise most of them! You can also explore the inside by lifting each floor or opening the back wall.

The Hibernia Couriers' Guild acts as a sort of throwback to the historical American Pony Express, delivering parcels and messages across the Hibernian landscape where infrastructure has yet to connect distant outposts. The drivers are famed for outfitting their transportation akin to hot rods and trophy trucks in an adrenaline fueled rush to make any delivery at lightning speed. After all, every second counts in the harsh outreaches of a new world.

The worldbuilding, the characters, and the plot development are outstanding.
I had to honor it with this small diorama.
It's 17 cm high and 28 cm long.

Here we go again! So, this is Ahi Version 4. I was not all that pleased with V3's general awkward proportions, so I cleaned things up a bit here. Tell me what you think! Is he better this way?
Since I have presented Ahi's backstory so recently, I'm going to just skip the bio par and give you some worldbuilding instead!
Basically the entire conflict between Diaa's faction (Bireos, Rashad, Avalon) and Ahi's faction (Ryylem, Irei, and sort of Gaar) revolves around the Masks of Creation, Control, and, most importantly, Life. Some history for the mask of life: The mask was created by a small group of Predecessors not long after the dawn of time. However, it proved too strong for their control and was sealed within a pocket dimension. Gaar was entrusted with guarding the entrance to that dimension (the volcano Ahi currently protects). Diaa hopes to use the dimensional engines to either find the entrance or open another one. That's all guys!

“Alright Alright Alright.” -Matthew McConaughey
February 12th, 2017.
If I were to be standing on stage and be giving a 10 hour speech, I’d be far than dead already. I haven’t exactly been posting that much since the start of January, I’m always on a hectic schedule with school and life, even though I’m trying to accommodate time to finish things, luckily it’s a snow day yesterday and today as well, so this is a perfect opportunity to say things:
I’m skipping the honours this time to thank everybody for their support. Milestone here is to reach 1K people, and I’m hoping I can reach that achievement, with a long journey that far. Thanks to fans, builders and various talented writers, who have given me tons of inspirations for making figs and developing characters/stories, the art community for their awesome art and paintings within these recent years that make me rethink about my sketches (XD).
So yeah, the usual tradition always comes off with some announcements:
1. The PA Verse. For the last four months I’ve been working on that universe since the first season. As promised, there are always side stories, lores and Easter Eggs to worldbuilding. And of course, season 2 is coming. I have my characters and the script for the first few episodes are good as ready to go. I hope this will bring forth future seasons to come!
2. Detective Comics Unlimited: This is a shout-out to crew and writers. We are successful at this universe for a month already, and we are handling it well. Which means inevitably Bronze Tiger is coming soon. I can’t promise when, but it will be this year.
3. Flickr Fighters: As previously announced in the group, we’re gonna reestablish canon and make an official timeline out of stories. I hope the push is a bit like the MCU/DCEU somehow, so a Multi_Sharp solo series is definitely coming along the way. Who’s to say I won’t even make the other FF figs, hehe.
4. Arts, memes and miscellaneous stuff: To accommodate the kinda trash system Flickr is and has imposed on us (just like Fallout 76 and Diablo Immortal), I’ll still post stuff like that, but lesser. I’ve been asking a friend to run the Doctor Elite 19 account for me lately (with tight permission), as he’ll give me a heads up as well when I’m getting close to death at a 1000 photos.
5. Other series: It’s hard to say whether I will come back to those, but Sharpverse JLA, a unnamed sci fi series are likely to be revived from development hell. Even I don’t know the odds but with a Star Wars series that I’ve planned back then, it is likely going to be released as long I have a good story. However Paradox Force remains sorta dead in the water. At this point I’m very unsure about that universe I’ve built since then, and I’m thinking about making a post revealing my layout and story plans that were scrapped in favour of the PA Verse.
6. Contest: Oh right. That ties into the PA Verse right away. It’s been such a long time since I did one, the last one in November 2017. I hesitate to do one because it’s not always going to be good, or have people joining and be able to give prizes (mostly stems from personal feelings). The details are mainly similar to my first contest, is to make unique characters in that universe, with a twist you can think of, something can drive them to be special. It’s cyberpunk-ish with a mix of utopia and dystopia. I suggest going through character profiles and my stuff, which I have an album for that flickr.com/photos/128407574@N08/sets/72157696821271501.
If you’re interested in this contest as well, comment below so I can make a list and think of things from here.
And that is all folks! Special thanks to my discord groups and art chat!

"The excess light you have brought into this world may seem to be the vanquisher of all that opposes it, but it has only cast a larger shadow upon all things and beings. You have pushed the divine workings of equilibrium, and in the wake of your newly brightened days, clouds blacker than night will follow."
The sixth in my series of medieval fantasy scenes.
All effects were done through practical effects (other than the eyes).
These scenes have firm roots in the worldbuilding that I've been conducting for my very own fantasy world, and may potentially be canonized in my world in the future, if to be "set in stone".

"Mysterious are the creatures that dwell in the Aochiri Swamplands. Accounts of those who have ventured there and lived to tell the tale, though rarely in unscathed fashion, have made the rounds for hundreds of years. They are described as commonly hooded, at times armoured, their bright eyes glowing in the darkness of the swamps they inhabit, with lizard-like bodies that add to their ominous presence. They appear to be primitive savages but are also said to be agile and inventive with their tools. There are many who dispel the claims of such creatures existing, but over the years, more and more sightings have been documented, raising the fear that, should they exist, they may well be expanding their territory..."

All effects were done through practical effects (other than the eyes).
All of these scenes are things that could potentially take place/exist in my own fantasy world, which I've been working on since 2015.
Consider commenting if you fave, I'd appreciate it!

I don't know how many of y'all saw the old Transformation Station at SWF, but it had gotten a bit dated. So I asked for approval to update it, got approval, and went to werk!
BEHOLD: the brand new SWF Transformation Station -- for all your chill vibe underwater changing needs.
We do not allow full nudity/visible genitalia on ground level of the sim, including in the sandbox. Many people come to the sandbox to change outfits though, and in theory that's ok, we'd just prefer to not have peoples' bits out when pretty much anyone could be passing by.
Having said that, I do hereby decree that if you want a place to change and like doing so at SWF, you may do so fully in the Transformation Station. It's more out of the way and is *meant* for changing, so I think it's okay there if you need to be nekkid for a sec to fully get your look on point. I rezzed privacy screens if you do want to be modest, but do as you will, within reason. <.<

Hey hey, so I've still been working on that worldbuilding project in the background - turns out that it's an immense amount of work. Life just got in the way a lot unfortunately, and so I took a very long break from working on it. However, I still at least want to make some more guns for the setting before I jump back in, so...enjoy this one!
Traversing the wilds of Almeria is incredibly perilous. Not only does the land itself often seem to stand in your way, so to do less friendly fauna - be it man or beast. As such, it is common knowledge that some form of personal protection is essential. While the many schools of magic are all perfectly acceptable tools, there are plenty of others that opt for a more 'mundane' approach.
Heavy, crudely forged and without any inherent magical properties, the massive 'iron breaker' revolvers have become a widespread sight across the new world, wielded by those capable of taming the massive recoil, and who are known for dismissing the benefits of magic as unnecessary for effective combat. However, with that massive recoil comes massive per-shot stopping power - so much so that even some magical barriers struggle to withstand a shot from an iron breaker. While seen as a very crude option compared to magically imbued weapons by many who would espouse the benefits and necessity of magic, they have no doubt saved many a life, and taken just as many in return. Truly, one of the more fearsome weapons of the New Era.

The cafe was a cramped little strip of space, far longer than it was wide. It was styled after traditional Japanese Izakaya bars. At least that’s what Kelly had heard. A countertop and accompanied seating stretched along the left half of the space, separating patrons from the kitchen area, while a few tiny dining tables and chairs lined the right wall. The lighting was dim and warm, giving the place its own distinct ambience. A rich sweet aroma swelled from the sizzling grill at the far end of the room.
Most of the crowds had cleared out by now. Two or three of the usual stragglers remained in their regular spots, sipping their morning beverage of choice while reading the news or scrolling through their personal messages.
Shaun, the owner of the establishment, looked up as Kelly entered. His face lit up with a toothy grin, as it always did when a customer entered.
“Kelly! Good to see you!” he said in his usual over-enthusiastic tone, “How goes it?”
“Same old same old.” she shrugged earnestly.
“Your usual order?” he asked.
“Mh, not today. Late night and I just got off from a job. I was planning to settle down for a few hours. A shot of bedtime tea would help, but-“ she caught a wiff of brewed coffee. “I’d hate to be a pain-”
“No no no. You ask, I give!” he beamed, before promptly scurrying off to prepare her drink.
Kelly smiled to herself and let out a little sniff of a chuckle. Shaun was always one to please a customer.
With nothing else to do, her eyes were drawn to the TV display hanging in the corner of the room. It was currently switched to Pittsburgh’s local news channel. There was still ongoing work at reestablishing a proper independent media network for the city. As of now, it was just pre-recorded news blocks or simple non-visual talk radio programs.
At the moment, a video interview was on. It featured the mayor of Frick outpost, Nicole Brickett.
“Many say you take inspiration from the New York political school of thought.” an interviewer off camera stated.
“And rightly so!” she answered with pride. She wore a self-important smirk. “New York has become a symbol of prosperity to our country. Progressive, modern, and a power hour of economic development, of course.” She quickly added. “While most other cities are still struggling to survive, New York has more than recovered. I think they’re the model city we should all base ourselves on.”
“Of course.” The interviewer agreed. “Though many have their reservations over New York’s past political record. May I remind you of the Brooklyn Tax Strikes, the ongoing blue-collar exodus from Manhattan, or the infamous Orbit Wars six years ago?”
“I…don’t see how that’s relevant to the conversation...”
Her eyes darted suspiciously.
“Not to draw false conclusions, but many of your critics have pointed out that your platforms align with those that set into motion such events in the first place. I just think you should be given the means to defend yourself.”
The woman cleared her throat, clearly taken off guard by the statement. “…While the harsher of my ‘critics’ have attempted to…’discredit’ my proposed policies…“
Kelly could just imagine the gears turning in her head, as she scrambled to think of the most PR-friendly phrasing she could come up with.
“…But rest assured, my cabinet and I have been doing our due diligence. I’ve been working tirelessly to-“
An elderly gentlemen suddenly barked across the room, “Ah, change the channel! I’ve had enough of that crone!”
Kelly placed the back of her hand to her mouth, subtly holding back a chuckle in silent agreeance.
It was truly a wonder what the people of Frick saw in her. Maybe it was the labor unions and promised supplementary wages. Or it was the lack of an established proxy presence.
She had made a nasty reputation for herself amongst the city’s proxy scene, after a series of impromptu statements related to the movement. 'Wanna-be outlaws’, ‘robo-anarchists’, and terms of similar caliber. Despite trying to backpedal, none of the operatives ever really got over it. Kelly included.
One of the frycooks behind the counter obliged and changed the channel to East America News, one of the big-name news stations on the east coast, and tuned in right at the tail-end of a news bracket.
“-the sport of racing!” proclaimed a portly man being interviewed. He spoke with an Italian accent. “That is what we wish to restore!”
It cut to a news anchor, an attractive blonde sitting slanted to the camera.
“Organizers predict the Static Circuit will be finished construction by June of next year, and the premiere racing event will be televised globally the following month.”
The anchor adjusted her posture as she paused for the next news segment.
“And in other news, Iceland has announced plans for yet another colony effort. This time, its northern neighbor of Jan Mayen. The geothermal super-state has already established several colonies along the coast of Greenland, seeing wide success with remote-presence-“
“Order up!”
Kelly snapped her attention back to Shaun. He wore a friendly smile as he slid the little cup of tea towards her. She gave a nod in thanking and cradled it in both hands.
She took a sip. Soothing. It took off what little edge there was.
Her eyes returned to the news broadcast, again just catching the end of the segment.
“-additional funding and researchers from Amsterdam.”
The camera angle cut to a closer-in shot, signalling the next segment.
“Now if you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll be pleased to hear that business is booming in Hershey! Since being integrated into the Northeast V-Rail Project earlier this year, production and scale of the company town has more than tripled. As with many in the food and beverage industry, Hershey is striving for a fully in-house production process; from raw material to finished product. With Hershey’s two Gigapark plants already nearing full capacity, another is currently under construction, with two currently in the works.”
Before Kelly knew it, her tea was gone with one final sip.
She placed her used cup back on the countertop and swiped her smart glove over the tap scanner, paying for her drink. Not wanting to loiter, she carried on her way with one final thankful nod to Shaun.

Hey, its a news broadcast, that makes it a totally organic in-universe form of exposition and worldbuilding! (regardless how gracefully I handle it) There's all kinds of stupid small news bits I would've liked to add here, but it's already sidetracking from the main story enough as is.
As you can see from the metadata, this scene was actually finished almost a month ago, but I was holding off on posting it until I had the next lore piece ready. It *kind of* ties in with this part? And I wanted to post both of them in quick succession.
Really happy with how this scene turned out. Especially compared to the previous one. Its always a nice dopamine rush when I have something pictured in my head, and it actually turns out how I imagined it.

Cuz someone's gotta scare the jovians off.

The Round 1 theme was The Solar System, and I was assigned to the Jupiter bracket. LAPR (Low Atmosphere Pressure Resistant) is a suit designed for lower atmosphere patrol, and I didnt give myself a lot of time to worldbuild more than that.
So I decided to watch Aquaman with my parents, the first time in 2-3 years since we’ve watched a movie together (long story, but it’s mostly them being busy and me studying overseas). Guess what, it’s an awesome film for Christmas.
Aquaman is set one year after Justice League, but it barely makes references to the wider DCEU, making it its own standalone movie, which means you don’t have to watch previous movies to know too much of the character. Basically if you know a lot about the New 52 story, then this movie is for you as well. Storyline is simple, from his struggle to outsider and half human, half Atlantean heritage to becoming king (slightly spoiled).
But it’s James Wan’s vision that makes this movie so good, he brings a fresh worldbuilding narrative that stands out as one of the good DCEU movies, possibly one of the biggest set in such a big environment in the sea. If I had to say something about the cast, it’s superb. Jason Momoa steals the role for the third time after BvS and JL, and nails it absolutely as Aquman. Amber Heard as Mera is also one of my favourite characters, she’s totally kickass and has good chemistry shared with Momoa, and the movie shows her abilities well.
For the supporting cast and villains, Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) is also badass as well, she’s not your average queen. There’s also Willem Dafoe as a strong ally, Vulko, who you might recognise as the Green Goblin in 2002’s Spider Man and this time he plays a good guy as well. Yahya’s Black Manta was totally a scene stealer, from the accurate armour/costume like the rest of the characters, he’s pretty brutal when he looks for revenge. I’d also like to say Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master does share a bit of similarity to brother related villains in superhero movies, but he’s a cool villain and is enjoyable with his performance.
Tom Curry and Nereus are also interesting characters despite limited screentime. The Trench appear as CGI monsters and partially practical as well, and frankly they’re horrifying, exactly like the comic run.
Pros: The acting, characters, visuals, tone, choreography, worldbuilding, humour, action, and lore are all done so well, I guess this is really the DCEU’s new direction headed towards better movies. It has lots of heart and dedication that makes it a good film. Costumes, weapons, superpowers and are really accurate.
Cons: Running time is a bit too long, at a few points it gets boring but then you’ll forget it. There’s a few scenes of bad green screen, but out of such a big film, it’s a “see it then you’ll forget it” situation, sorta.
Bonus: There’s a drum playing octopus, a pop version of Toto’s Africa, the awesome soundtrack, underwater talking with air bubbles, an actual big fish talking with a special appearance from Mary Poppins aka Julie Andrews, Aquaman’s aquatic and fish abilities, the post credits tease.
Overall, I’ll give this a 9.5/10, the second movie ranked in my rating below Wonder Woman (my first and top). Its success has potential to lead into more good movies, because I love the direction they’re headed towards now. This movie is a definite watch and recommendation, and totally one of the best superhero movie of 2018.
Inixia, the Anmarist Goddess of War and Death
Followers of Anmarism believe in a pantheon of gods, including:
Tasien, the God of Balance and King of the Gods
Yonos, Goddess of Actions and the Physical Realm
Yoros, God of Emotions and the Ethereal Realm
Inixia, Goddess of War and Death
Those who take Inixia as their patron god believe strongly in the beauty of death, especially death in battle. All Anmarists believe that death is a door, and that life exists on both sides on that door, initially in the Physical Realm, and after death in the Ethereal Realm. Inixia is thus purely the god of death, and has no part in the afterlife or undeath.
On the blog: Part 2 of My 150km Hike in Spain... This Time, with Hugh Howey!
www.stuckincustoms.com/2018/10/23/part-2-of-my-150km-hike...
Kelly noticed one of her fellow peace officers patrolling along the stairway at the far side of the platform.
“Hey, Brax!” She called.
He perked his head up and meandered over to her.
“I’ve kind of got my hands full right now. I know you’re on shift, but would you be a doll and drop my girl off at the shop for me?”
He paused for a moment and put on a scheming look.
“Depends...”
“Pay for your next drink at Rosalia’s?”
“Dinner, and you’ve got a deal.”
“Fine.” She begrudge.
“I have been wanting to try their new sweet pepper lamb steak. A little pricy, though…”
“Don’t persuade me otherwise.” She squinted.
He snickered to himself. The usual workplace banter.
“Door’s unlocked, right?”
“Should be. Paul and Bradford were there when I left. They might have to buzz you in. Just leave her parked wherever.”
“Right-o.”
“Thank you.” She said in a cutesy voice.
He waved her away as he wheeled her proxy off, back the way she had originally came.
She straightened her baggage over her shoulder and looked around.
One task out of the way at least, she thought to herself. Now to suffer through postal services…
---------------------------------
And the second part. A little better imo. I kind of cheated a little, and used that computer screen background effect I've been playing with for the past year. It made building the set a heck of a lot easier.
Also, really just slapping those holographic ads right in your face. Hey, I spent I-don't-even-know-how-long working on just them. You're damn right I'm going to make the most out of them (even if they are edited to be partly out of focus). Plus it makes for good organic in-universe worldbuilding.
Now. How the hell am I going to tackle the next scene I'm envisioning? ._.

My opinions on the new Arrowverse Seasons
Arrow Season 7
I loved season 6 and I am excited about the change of the status quo (the reliance upon which has always bothered me about the Arrowverse shows). I think the new showrunner is going to bring out the best of the show, and this may well prove to be the best season yet.
Excitement level: 9/10
Flash Season 5
I did not like season 4. It brought out the worst about the show. At every turn it made the wrong decisions. Thinker was boring, the villains of the week ranged from interesting but underused (Hazard) to utter, utter garbage (I think his name was supposed to be Jaco Birch/Pyro, but I have grown to refer to him as Ivanna MaMunnii (If you don’t get that, shame on you)).
However, I am cautiously optimistic for season 5. They seemed to have listened to the problems with season 4 and are changing things up. I am really excited to see Nora/XS; Jessica PK is a great actress and I think will be a highlight this season. I like the direction they are going with Cicada as the big bad. It could lead to some great Meta Related worldbuilding (Season 4 failed at that… failed hard. Amunet may be the worst adaptation of a character I have witnessed). I am not that fond of the casting choice for Cicada, I don’t think he is that great an actor or right for the world. The new Flash suit is… odd. It has problems. It needs a bit more colour to distract from the bright red and the neck is in dire need of adjustment. All in all, it is a B (Nora’s suit is great though).
Excitement level: 6/10
Supergirl
*sighs* Supergirl Season 3 broke me. It physically crushed me. I have lost all faith in this show. I will keep watch online, but I have no interest in what it is doing. They are adapting Red Son? Nope. That is the purest embodiment of an elseworlds story YOU CANNOT ADAPT THAT AS A CANON PLOT LINE! Nothing they could do could draw me back in.
Excitement Level: 0.5/10
Legends of Tomorrow Season 5
I loved season 3. It did so much right and really elevated the show to prominence… that is why I am really. I have a bad feeling it will buckle under the pressure of its newfound popularity, especially from the shipper community. Lets hope I am proven wrong. I suppose I will call myself cautiously optimistic.
Excitement Level: 7.5/10
Black Lightning
Great first season. The showrunners no exactly what they are doing. Cannot wait.
Excitement Level: 9.5/10
