The word “Mitama” means spirit of the deceased and this festival held in mid-July pays homage to those spirits. Taking place in the controversial Yasukuni shrine, it sees some 30,000 lanterns strung up in memory of the dead. The festival started in 1947 just a couple of years following the conclusion of WWII, in which over two million Japanese soldiers lost their lives.

Word on the Water, a bookstore on a barge, is truly a book-lovers paradise. Every nook and cranny of this 100-year-old Dutch barge is stacked with neat rows of new and used classics, cult, contemporary fiction and a large range of children’s books.

A book shop and so much more ...

Customers are welcome to browse the books displayed outside or jump aboard and cosy up with a book by the stove! While books are clearly the star of the show, every inch of the barge is cleverly used to its fullest potential.

Word on the Water runs talks on art, technology, feminism and politics. Musicians and performers also make use of the barge’s roof stage and solar sound system for open mic sessions and there’s even an occasional poetry slam!

Word on the Water is permanently moored on Regent’s Canal Towpath just past The Lighterman restaurant.

Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most photographed and iconic landmarks. It is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and is an extremely popular beauty spot.

It is located on the Lulworth Estate in south Dorset and is part of the Jurassic Coast. The coastline is of such international geological importance that it was designated England’s first natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 and is now part of a family of natural wonders including America’s Grand Canyon and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.

The magnificent natural limestone arch was formed when the power of the waves eroded the rock and forged a hole through the middle. The name Durdle is derived from an old English word ‘thirl’, which means to pierce, bore or drill.

"One Word"

A chapter page title, I especially like the paper used.

My take on the Macro Mondays theme 'One Word.' POV in the image is about one and a half inches in diameter of the cookie.

is a single word of deep meaning

Edzná is a Maya archaeological site in the north of the Mexican state of Campeche.

The most remarkable building at the site is the main temple located at the plaza. Built on a platform 40 m high, it provides a wide overview of the surroundings. Another significant building located in the plaza is a ball court. Two parallel structures make up the ball court. The top rooms of the ball court were possibly used to store images of the gods associated with the events, along with items needed for the games.

Edzná was already inhabited in 400 BC, and it was abandoned c. 1500 AD. During the time of occupation, a government was set up whose power was legitimized by the relationship between governors and the deities. In the Late Classic period Edzná was part of the Calakmul polity. Edzná may have been inhabited as early as 600 BC but it took until 200 AD before it developed into a major city. The word Edzná comes from "House of the Itzaes". The architectural style of this site shows signs of the Puuc style, even though it is far from the Puuc Hills sites. The decline and eventual abandonment of Edzná remains a mystery today.

Edzná was discovered in 1907. The first organised excavations started in 1958. In 1986, coordinating agencies began to employ Guatemalan refugees in the excavation, restoration and maintenance at Edzná.

Theme: "One Word"

Thank you for taking the time to view this photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.

Today is a pink day at Color my World Daily and the theme at the fabulous Smile on Saturday! Group is: one word.

One word is a big challenge for me, as you can imagine… I like to talk, and one word isn’t enough for me!! So, I decided to use the color of the day as my word. So here you go, have an awesome "one word/pink" day my friends!!

Since I had a little party yesterday, I will be away since I have lots of stuff to do (which I didn’t do yesterday) and also, I probably have a hung over since I was planning on heavily drinking and eating as much cake as I can have before starting my “healthy eating” thing, once again lol. And as my present self knows my future self: I wasn’t a classy lady, so chances are I did drink like a sailor…. Don’t count on me today…So see you later alligator!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts / positive vibes!! It is truly appreciated! Have a great day and see you soon!!

For the group, Macro Mondays I have captured part of a shaving socket showing clearly that this is for shavers only! Theme today - One Word!

------------------------------ JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, ALONE! ❤️

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus died that death for YOU and I. The good news is there no more punishment for sin left, we were and are all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Now that the days are getting shorter and the temperature is dropping, we are cheered up in the garden by a Robin, always active and singing regularly!

A very welcome visitor.

Nu de dagen alweer korter worden en de temperatuur omlaag gaat worden we in de tuin opgevrolijkt door een Roodborstje, steeds actief en regelmatig aan het zingen! Een zeer welkome bezoeker.

The Lye - old fashioned word for Meadow - wasn't as good as I've seen! Only 50% out!
