In Duitsland is RTB Cargo dagelijks druk met het rijden van diverse autotreinen tussen de verschillende autofabrieken en havens. Met name de duurdere automerken worden doorgaans vervoerd in de bekende geel/grijs gesloten wagens, die helaas meer en meer onder de graffiti zitten. De minder dure automerken worden daarentegen vaak op open autotransportwagens vervoerd en zijn daarmee een stuk fotogenieker.
In de avond van vrijdag 26 mei 2023 werd de dag afgesloten aan de Nord-Süd-Strecke bij het dorpje Nordstemmen, even ten zuiden van Hannover. Omdat er toch nog behoorlijk wat vocht in de lucht zat, ging het licht steeds meer achteruit en vonden we het langzaamaan wel mooi geweest. Er moest nog een dik half uur naar de slaapplek worden gereden en we hadden tevens ook wel zin in een goed avondmaal.
Maar DB Netz had andere plannen en besloot nog even wat treinen de NSS op te sturen, met een gesloten spoorwegovergang tot gevolg. En dus werd er een alternatief standpunt gevonden met zicht op een bijna volledig uitgebloeid koolzaadveld. De 193 994 van RTB Cargo passeerde met deze beladen autotrein in zuidelijke richting, afkomstig vanaf Bremen Rbf (en vermoedelijk zelfs Emden). Bestemming van de trein is vaak Hongarije.

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights CL/CR. They were fired in Manual mode at ⅛ power (CL) and 1⁄16 power (CR) through 24" gridded soft boxes.
The SB900s were triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs.
Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D(AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro).
My take on the Macro Mondays theme 'One Word.' POV in the image is about one and a half inches in diameter of the cookie.
Op woensdag 18 mei 2022 werd weer een dagje spotten ingepland. Het zou mooi weer worden met aardig wat uurtjes zon. Dat viel wat tegen. Desondanks werd er goed gescoord. Het liep qua treinen aardig door en de dag werd afgesloten met een knaller en een bonus-knaller.
Die dag werden stekken bezocht in Twente en net over de grens in Duitsland. Ik trof oude en nieuwe bekenden en zodoende werd het ook nog gezellig. Als eerste stek werd Holten bezocht om daar de Pruszków-shuttle te fotrograferen. Deze kwam echter niet opdagen c.q. werd nergens gemeld.
In de loop kwamen er aardig wat wolken aandrijven. Gelukkig kwam nog mooi op tijd een fraaie keteltrein getrokken door een Nez Cassé voor de lens. Kort daarvoor was er een groep spoorwerkers gearriveerd. Deze stonden met de auto's en busjes bij de spoorwegovergang en bij aanvang behoorlijk binnen het motief. De aardige (lokale) medewerkers hebben voor ons de voertuigen nog aan de kant gezet, maar we moesten toch wat meer op zij om goede foto's te kunnen maken. Alternatieve stekken liggen meer naar het westen en daar was het al bewolkt. Dan maar op deze manier ;-).
Hier zien we de RFO 1837 met een keteltrein richting Bad Bentheim ten oosten van Holten op 18 mei 2022.

For the Macro Monday challenge "Zed" (May 10th 2021)
The challenge is that the word you choose must include the letter Z.
Given the long freezing winter we have endured, it was maybe not surprising that I chose "froZen" and looked out the ice-cube tray!
This is a snail shell frozen in tonic water, which I hoped would give me lots of bubbles. It was a bit disappointing, as it was cloudy when frozen - but some of the cubes came out with 'holes' that looked like ice caverns. It was a fun way to spend a morning, chasing the shots before the ice cubes melted!
The ice cubes are about 4cmx3cm.

This is a glass sphere / bubble in the center of one of my paperweights. The full size of the paper weight measure 3". This center sphere / bubble is less than a half inch in diameter. HMM, everyone ! !

Macro Mondays and "Printed Word"
I was looking around the house for an old newspaper as I hadn't bought one for quite a while and I came across an edition of "Photography News" which is a free newspaper which can be picked up at certain outlets including Jessops which is still open in the nearby town of Horsham.
Once I had found it I started flicking through the pages to find a word/composition I liked. After locating a section with some words and a photo I noticed a paragraph containing photographic abbreviations and decided to make it a depth of field shot as these abbreviations all seemed to line up together.

Part of what is so intriguing about photography is the unique way that different exposures can fundamentally change scenes. This, for example, was the purposeful underexposure of a scene for a series of bracketed shots. But the heightened drama by imperfections in the lighting (dark, moody shadows, heavy vignette) made the image particularly stunning to me.
