As the August evenings and nights darken, the Northern Lights are visible again. I stood by the lake waiting for them. And they came, not dancing like in winter, but in a calm, beautiful arch, staying in place for over an hour. An orange crescent moon also rose into the sky. All the colors of the sky were reflected on the surface of the calm lake. Otherwise it was very quiet. I will keep this memory in my heart.

Huts have played an important role in the European history of the Mt Hotham region. Literally hundreds of huts once existed throughout the ranges of the district; from the earliest crude buildings of the miners and cattle graziers, wayside shanties and shelters for travellers and tourists and the important refuges for the pioneer skiers. The majority of huts and buildings have long since perished.

In Santorini, take lots of pics (both with DSLR and also mobile phone of course), enjoy delicious Greek food, look out for the donkeys, go up and down the stairs, explore the laneways, go to the beach, try ouzo (but do not get drunk as there is so much to see and do), embrace Greek hospitality, visit the villages and also the archaeological sites.. and if time permits why not shop for some souvenirs and that dress.... Oh how I wish I could be back there and do this all over again. Love Santorini and do not forget that SPF 50+ sunscreen...

Our last "RL week" for this year has just ended. I'm always depressed when you have to go home, especially when we can´t see each other until next year.

one of my all-time favourite songs by one of my all-time favourite bands - a very emotional and melancholic masterpice with the topic of absence, fear and loss ...
Although Pink Floyd did give a statement about the meaning of the lyrics, there are millions of interpretations of the text out there as almost everybody can relate with this softly wording ... that's the beauty and "timelessness" of it in my opinion

mich berührt die Melancholie von Text und Melodie immer noch und immer wieder ... und aufgrund des recht vagen Textes bleibt viel Spielraum für Interpretationen (auch wenn der Hintergrund der Lyriks bekannt ist), was für mich mit ein Grund für die Schönheit und Zeitlosigkeit des Songs ist

Definitely saw the rhythm of nature while taking in this view which included three stages of these huge, King Protea flowers (bud, partially and lastly more fully bloomed). Although they originate from South Africa, they thrive in the Hawaiian climate with the flowers growing up to 12" in size (these were much smaller than that). I was blown away at how many different colors and styles of proteas and other flowers we saw at the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm in upcountry Maui. The vistas, flora and fauna , peaceful setting and nice gift shop combine to make it a wonderful place to visit.
A dramatic afternoon at Dungeness in late summer. This house situated on the Dungeness estate was recently sold. Its famously known to have connections with the rock band, Pink Floyd. My motivation for this image the dramatic sky and moody feel.

I used the same photo from the same staircase I uploaded (see first comment box) to create this machine-face. It was only a second later the title popped up in my head. It's a great song, hope you enjoy it too!

Late evening after sunset on the shore of Lyngefjord. I have traveled all long day in the rain, the landscapes have been foggy and the clouds have covered the high mountains. Such a different experience than a year ago. However, as the evening progresses, the rain gradually stops and the sun starts to set from an almost cloudless sky. I wish you were here with me now to share this timeless moment.
