In the woods, somewhere around Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, on Wednesday 31st January 2018.
About the photograph.
This is Janey, a British model whom had been seen in various British top-shelf softcore magazines. Here, she was booked for a fashion related outdoors photo-shoot.
The shots are partially as stand-alone photographs (i.e.: to display on Flickr or Instagram or simply to hang up on the wall) and partially for a graphic design project, like importing into a fashion catalogue.
Janey is wearing a medium length, size 22, brown faux fur coat with hood, from M&Co. She is also wearing a polka blouse, blue jeans tucked into below-knee length boots, and a scarf.
The photographs were taken in the woods near her home, somewhere around Sheffield.
(Note: I never tell the exact location of, nor geotag, my photos of models, if the photo-shoot was done at or extremely near their homes, for their safety and their privacy.)
Here in the United Kingdom, during the 1980s and 1990s, I had been struggling to get into a college course to study photography, and also to get a job as a photographer, because of discrimination towards the disability people, as I am a deaf person with speech impaired.
My own family, the hearing teachers at the deaf school, the career advisors, they all would tell me that I can’t be a photographer because of the need to communicate with people.
But as you can see, I’ve been working with her, and we had got on well, despite the communications difficulties. She has posed in ways that I planned for.
As a matter of a fact, I’ve booked 7 models, and worked well with all of them.
About M&Co.
In 1834, Neil McGeoch started a pawnbroker business, in Paisley, Scotland, and over the many years, the family business expanded to 6 pawnbroker shops.
By 1953, the brothers Len and Iain McGeoch decided to convert the pawnbroker shops into clothing stores, and traded as Mackays Stores Limited. Over the years, they acquired a few other clothing retail business and expanded to approximately at least 140 by 1986, up to 270 by 2005.
In 2005, the company was rebranded as M&Co for a more modern image, and went on to operate over 300 stores, including few overseas and an online store.
The company first specialised in women’s clothes, later expanded to include men’s and children’s clothes.
Sadly due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the early 2020s, the company struggled with business as customers stayed at home, and struggled to keep going.
The company finally went into administration, and it was reported that the branding was bought by the McGeoch family. By spring of 2023, M&Co was closing down.
About the location.
Before and during meeting with Janey, I had communicated my plans to her, outlining what kind of photographs I wanted. I wanted outdoors winter-style fashion shots, in a countryside or similar. She had told me there are some woodlands near her home, and I took up her suggestion. They offered the kind of background I wanted, and they served my purpose.
Because of this, I will not geotag my photographs, for her safety and privacy. I do the same for any models, if the photo-shoot was done at or near their homes, unless it’s a studio or the on-location site is few miles away.

Seen today outside Southport's Chapel Street branch of BHS. She's out 'earning a living' all around town, come rain, hail, sleet or snow ; singing light opera and songs from the shows. Good on you, girl ; you're great

About the photographs.
Am y ffotograffau.
This is Olivia, a model I booked for a two-hours outdoors photo-shoot, outside of Newport (Welsh: Casnewydd).
Here, she is posing in a winter outfit containing a size 10, long, light brown faux fur coat from Astraka of London, along with her own turtleneck jumper, jeans with shiny strips down the sides, and white trainers.
She is standing on the driver side door frame. In one photo, she is holding the roof rail for support, and in the other photo, leaning on the front pillar.
Olivia is posing with a Starbucks takeaway cup, and the photographs were taken as part of a graphic design project, in additional as standalone photos for show on Flickr or Instagram.
The vehicle is a 2005 registered Land Rover Freelander.
It is a diesel 2.0L Td4 SE model with manual gearbox, and a BMW M47 engine. The tyres are BF Goodrich T/A KO2 All Terrain tyres on steel wheels. The Freelander was an entry-level Land Rover from 1997 to 2006, before being replaced by the Freelander 2 until 2015.
The location is the car park next to St Julian Inn, on the south bank of the River Usk.
With special thanks to the manager/owner of St Julian Inn for giving me permissions to use the car park.
As Olivia was booked for two-hours, we stayed at this location only for 50 minutes before moving to another location. Nothing wrong there, just that I needed a change of background. Those will be uploaded to my Photostream in near future.
About the subject.
Am y pwnc.
Astraka of London was a faux fur manufacturer. It first started as Alfred Morris Furs in 1898 in London, before moving to Buckinghamshire in the 1940s.
By about the 1960s, the company employed about 400 people, and produced faux fur coats, selling to top shops like Selfridges and exporting all over the world.
But by about 1988, it went into receivership and closed down.
There are very limited details about the company on the Internet, specially as the company closed down before home Internet and the World Wide Web became more popular.
Starbucks is an American multinational chain of coffee houses that started in Seattle, United States, in March 1971, and was set up by three guys.
In the early 1980s, the sold the company to a man who turned Starbucks into the coffee houses as we know it today.
They have about 35,000 stores all over the world, with about 400,000 employees.
In additional to Starbucks being a coffee house, selling food and drinks, they also sell their own merchandising.
Many Starbucks fans often enjoy selfies with Starbucks cups and merchandising, then post online, like Instagram.
What is this all about?
Beth yw pwrpas hyn I gyd?
This is the first in a series of a long-term project I started working on, which is called Project: Freelander Ladies. It is a variation of the so called Land Rover Girls type of photographs. Generally, the majority of the Land Rover Girls kind of photos tend to be of younger women posing next to mostly either the Series or the Defender production models, and less common are the Discovery or Range Rover models. There are barely enough photos of women posing next to a Freelander, so my aim is to create some more of this, especially for the Freelander owners and fans to enjoy.
In addition to this being a “cars and girls” kind of photography which is the main role, there are other roles, including photographs needed for a graphic design project, which will be shown in near future, as well as fashion style photographs.
