Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind

William Shakespeare

Blow, blow, thou winter wind,

Thou art not so unkind

As man’s ingratitude;

Thy tooth is not so keen,

Because thou art not seen,

Although thy breath be rude.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:

Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:

Then, heigh-ho, the holly!

This life is most jolly.

Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,

That dost not bite so nigh

As benefits forgot:

Though thou the waters warp,

Thy sting is not so sharp

As friend remembered not.

Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly...

Appears in As You Like It, Act II Scene VII.

Winter perches like a bird. Wings tucked in so the soul is heard. ~Angie Weiland-Crosby

The cold was our pride, the snow was our beauty. It fell and fell, lacing day and night together in a milky haze, making everything quieter as it fell, so that winter seemed to partake of religion in a way no other season did, hushed, solemn.

"Look! the massy trunks are cased in the pure crystal;

each light spray,

Nodding and tinkling in the breath of heaven,

Is studded with its trembling water-drops,

That glimmer with an amethystine light. "

-- William Cullen Bryant - A Winter Piece --

Morning mist sits over this Welsh valley. The foreground grasses are flooded but a hard frost made the valley passable.

from Oberlistingen to Sieberhausen, Hesse, Germany

... at higher altitudes of the Black Forest only.

This is one of my favorite spots to start a winter walk like I did yesterday.

A nice 8 km path leads from St. Märgen to St. Peter, offering lovely views

to the mountains and remote Black Forest- farmhouses.

Wishing you a happy Sunday, dear friends :-)

Many thanks for your kind visits and comments, on my previous image too.

vorigen Foto.
