Where the two canyons converge. The Wind Wolves Preserve is not open to the public and we were the first ones to camp back here since the 80's. We saw no traces of humankind..but we did see bear scat large enough to keep our sense about us. Or as my friend Patrick said "I'm scared of anything that shits that big."
Whitelee wind farm under construction, soon to be Europe's largest wind turbine site with 140 turbines generating 322MW of electricity which is just enough to power most of Glasgow's domestic dwellings. It is just south of Glasgow above Eaglesham.
We passed many wind farms, like this one in Minnesota. The wind turns the "pinwheels" which generates electricity in a totally clean, non-polluting way.

Stevige wind op de dijk IJsselmeerdijk vandaag. De windmeter op Tollebeek piekte even naar 9 bft. Met een beetje hulp van het jack was het aardig hangen in de wind.

Taken at 11:20 pm from Ballaine Road. The winds and smoke direction had shifted and the fire looked much better suppressed than it was earlier in the evening. The smoke lets the long wavelength (redder) light through making for pretty colors at sunset. So far I have not heard any word on property damage.

These Turbines are the subject of a lot of Controversy. I have heard so many opposing stories about their impact on the environment. Visually, I think they are stunning, and green energy is nothing to scoff at, but I am withholding final judgement.
