I had been shut out for 5 nights in a row on this trip and was willing to shoot anything at this point. As I was running around to the different viewpoints on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon looking for some open sky, I rounded the corner along the drive and hit the brakes for a quickie. :) I set up one light panel quickly and snapped 3 shots then jumped back in and off I went. I used a cooler white balance than usual on this one at around 3200. :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Dreams become goals when you believe in yourself and they become true when you put your faith, soul and efforts in all you do, when you keep going and fighting for what you want in life, when you are willing to learn from everything and get up stronger, wiser and even more determined after each fall or hardship. Always keep hoping, believing, growing, improving yourself and your mindset, be grateful and keep your happiness and standards close to your heart regardless of anyone else or anything you go through.

to be a useful, happy woman, and I don't think that is a bad ambition. Even if I only do what my dear mother did, earn my living honestly and happily, and leave a beautiful example behind me, to help one other woman as hers helps me, I shall be satisfied :)

Albi is a French town located in the department of Tarn, of which it is capital, in the Occitania region, with 51 199 inhabitants. It is located on the banks of the Tarn River. The clays of this river were the raw material to elaborate the red bricks that characterize its local architecture, whether in its cathedral, in its houses, bridges, palaces, etc.
This color of the whole city makes life very difficult and complicated for the photographer because everything is the same color and from a distance it looks like a reddish spot without any appeal.
I took advantage of the Tarn River to give it some joy and with care and much patience I have managed to enhance the different tones somewhat.
Really inside it is not anything from the other world, but it is a very happy city where there are always concerts, popular parties and a lot of people willing to have fun.
To highlight the area of the cathedral and its surroundings and also the Tarn River as it passes through the city.
I don't know if it shows that I have family in this city.
If you expand it, clicking on it, you can see it with all its detail.<b

It’s always a delight to spot a Burrowing Owl, especially one willing to pose for a portrait 😎
Have a Great Weekend, Flickr Friends !!
Burrowing Owls are small, sandy colored owls with bright-yellow eyes. They live underground in burrows they’ve dug themselves or taken over from a prairie dog, ground squirrel, or tortoise.
They live in grasslands, deserts, and other open habitats, where they hunt mainly insects and rodents. Their numbers have declined sharply with human alteration of their habitat and the decline of prairie dogs and ground squirrels.
Before laying eggs, Burrowing Owls carpet the entrances to their homes with animal dung, which attracts dung beetles and other insects that the owls then catch and eat. They may also collect bottle caps, metal foil, cigarette butts, paper scraps, and other bits of trash at the entrance, possibly signifying that the burrow is occupied.
The oldest known Burrowing Owl was at least 9 years, 11 months old when it was sighted in California in 2014.

I had to do something to portray what it feels like to be in isolation. I know it's somewhat eerie :) Two more days and we will be free to leave the house again. I think most of you can relate to this feeling, after having lived through a pandemic and being in lockdown off and on over the past couple of years.
We are both getting better slowly.

The Cedar Waxwing was calling from this single open branch. Often feeding in trees with fruit or blossoms, this one took an open spot and allowed me to grab a few shots.

It wasn't hard to get a closer look at this Blue Jay, as she was willing to pose for a little while before flying off.
Once there was a man with good intentions
And some people at home he forgot to mention
She was looking for a friend and he was willing to listen
Once there was a man with good intentions
And nobody has to know
It's all right, it's all right to let go
And nobody has to see
What's between you and me
Is you and me

T'was the night before Christmas
he lived all alone
In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone
I had come down the chimney with
presents to give
and to see just who in this dweling did
live
I looked all around a strange site to
see
No tinsel, no presents, not even a
tree
No stockings on the mantle just boots filled
with sand
On the wall hung pictures of far
distant lands
Medals and Badges, Awards every
kind
A sobering thought came alive in my
mind
This house was different, it was
dark, it was deary
I had found the home of a
soldier
I could see that most clearly
The soldier lie sleeping, silent, alone
Curled up on the floor in this one
bedroom home
His face was so gentle, the room in
such disorder
Not at all how I pictured a
United States Soldier
Was this the hero of whom I'd just read
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for
a bed
Then I realized the other families
that I saw on this night
Hold their lives to soldiers, who are
willing to fight
In the morning around the
world, the children would play
Grown-ups would celebrate a bright
Christmas Day
But they all enjoy freedom each
month of the year
Because of soldiers like the one lying
here
I couldn't help but wonder, how many
lay alone?
On a cold Christmas Eve in lands far
from home
The very thought brought a tear to my
eye
I dropped to my knees and I
started to cry
The soldier awakened, I heard his
ruff voice
Santa don't cry, this life is my
choice...
...I fight for freedom, I don't ask for
more...
...My life is my God, my country, my
core
The soldier rolled over and drifted to
sleep
But I couldn't control it and I
continued to weep
I kept watch for hours... so silent and
still
as both of us shivered from the cold
nights chill
I didn't want to leave him on that cold
dark night
This guardian of honor, so willing to
fight
then the soldier rolled over with a
voice soft and pure
He whispered Carry on Santa, it's
Christmas Day...
...all secure One look at my watch
and I knew he was right
Merry Christmas my friend, may God
Bless you this night
When there were no birds willing to pose for me, I was concentrating on photographing landscapes of the beautiful scenery that surrounds us in Alberta. The trees along the mountain side, unfortunately, are dead because of the Mountain Pine Beetle. There were many large areas in the Jasper area where the trees had been killed by these beetles. Extreme cold winters are needed to destroy them but they seem to recover. Regardless, this is still one of my favorite spots to photograph in Jasper National Park. I have added a photo in the comment box from 2011 which shows the trees were green.

Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
Because this Blue Tiger Butterfly stayed on the Cornflower for a long time, I had the opportunity to look for various background colours. The purple halo comes from a Brunfelsia flower.

Captured on Barassie Beach, Ayrshire, Scotland, with the sun low behind the Isle of Arran.
A similarly beautiful sunset last night too but I left the camera at home and instead took to the beach to pick litter instead. Removing just a few pieces of plastic from the beach or strandline is deeply rewarding.
Microplastics plague our environment. They are in the water we drink, food we eat and the air we breathe. Microplastics have been found in our lungs, our bloodstream, our brains and in foetuses too.
Despite the first full on sunny spring day falling on a bank holiday weekend, there was surprisingly little litter to pick last night. A surprising but pleasing result.
Please remember to only ever take to the beach the things which you are willing to take home with you afterwards.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend of photography. Stay safe everyone.
This is a long exposure from Widemouth bay in Cornwall, I'd spotted these layers with sand wave patterns in them, they looked so beautiful, and you could imagine the scene when they were formed millions of years ago. The heart is willing is a great track by A A Bondy, and has no great meaning, apart from even when I've got a bad back , I still will myself down the beach.
If a mysterious trill catches your attention in the night, bear in mind the spooky sound may come from an owl no bigger than a pint glass. Common east of the Rockies in woods, suburbs, and parks, the Eastern Screech-Owl is found wherever trees are, and they’re even willing to nest in backyard nest boxes. These supremely camouflaged birds hide out in nooks and tree crannies through the day, so train your ears and listen for them at night.
This is my attempt to create an abstraction of George's photo.
Not so good, but I am learning and more than willing to accept your suggestions as to how to make this better?
Sunrise at Sanur Beach, Bali. If I could ask for a tip from anyone willing to share - the sun over the boat is massively over exposed and I'm unsure of how to address this issue. The photo was already taken at a pretty high shutter speed 1/2000. Is this just a limitation of my phone? Or perhaps I need a filter of some kind? I tried my best to do something in post but couldn't hit a sweet spot. Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you.
Flowing with a passion after days of heavy rain. Quite often choked with debris, it seems to have had a clean out of late. Very happy to have some weather sealed gear for this - we got wet and then some. Thanks Michael for being willing to get a soaking for a shot.
Wherever you are
You know that I adore you
No matter how far
Well, I can go before you
And if ever you need someone
Well, not that you need helping
But if ever you want someone
Know that I am willing
Oh and I don't want to change you
I don't want change you,
I don't want to change your mind
I just came across a manger
Out among the danger
Somewhere in a stranger's eye
Wherever you go
Well, I can always follow
I can feed this real slow
If it's a lot to swallow
And if you just want to be alone
Well, I can wait without waiting
If you want me to let this go
Well, I'm more than willing
My Flickr friends know that Sethi isn't a very willing poser (understatement !) but when I said that this week's Happy Caturday theme was "I'm simply perfect" he happily allowed me to take a series of photos. :) I post this a day early because I don't have any other cat photos I could post today. Happy Caturday !
Turned out that I had to remove this from the Happy Caturday group as it is a collage. And I was so happy that I managed all these photos of the perfect Sethi ... 😢

In approximately 24 hours I will be traveling to Bangkok and beyond. Lord willing, I'll be back in around two weeks. Hope to see you then!
At my feet the white-petalled daisies display
the small suns of their center piece, their - if you don't
mind my saying so - their hearts. Of course
I could be wrong, perhaps their hearts are pale and
narrow and hidden in the roots. What do I know?
But this: it is heaven itself to take what is given,
to see what is plain; what the sun lights up willingly;
for example - I think this
as I reach down, not to pick but merely to touch -
the suitability of the field for the daisies, and the
daisies for the field.
--Mary Oliver
Knowing you are there,
present and willing to lift me up
when I'm feeling down,
lets me know I'm not alone and
fills my heart with gratitude and love.
Thank you honey for always being there for me.

Summer seems to take a break at the moment, it's much cooler now and windy with occasional rain. Fynn even decided that he needed his warm blanket again when he stayed on the terrace for a while. He wasn't very willing to pose for a photo, refused to look at me. Bunny behind him was more cooperative.
