The Art Nouveau style Andrassy dining room, design: József Rippl-Rónai (1861 -1927).
Reconstruction.
In 1896 Rippl-Rónai was commissioned by Count Tivadar Andrássy to design the dining room and the entire furniture of his palace in Budapest. In this way he became involved in the applied arts, too, designing glass windows, furniture, chinaware, glasses and gobelins. The embroidery designed by him and executed by his French wife, Lazarine, won them a silver medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1897. The stained glass windows were executed by Miksa Róth, the ceiling by James Pitcairn Knowles, the furniture by Endre Thék, the china by Zsolnay.

Rippl-Rónai József 1897-ben kapott megbízást gróf Andrássy Tivadartól (1857-1905) a család budai, Duna-parti palotája ebédlőjének megtervezésére. Az ekkor Párizsban élő művész által tervezett Andrássy-ebédlő az egyik első szecessziós enteriőr volt Magyarországon.

Története: a Fő utca 17. alatti (ma: Francia Intézet van az egykori palota helyén) eklektikus stílusú palotát még gróf Andrássy Adél építtette fel 1871-ben Schubert Ármin, Hikisch Lajos és Pucher József terve alapján. Örökség címén ez a háromemeletes ingatlan 1893-ban került gróf Andrássy Tivadar kezébe, aki 1896-ban bízta meg Rippl-Rónai József festőművészt, hogy új belsőépítészeti terveket készítsen a bérházként is funkcionáló palotájához. A mester 1900-ban lett kész a rábízott munkával. Mivel a megbízó korai halála miatt Andrássy özvegye, gróf Zichy Eleonóra, ifjabb Andrássy Gyulához ment másodjára feleségül, így a palota ékének számító Rippl-Rónai-féle ebédlőt-, amelyet 12 négyzetméteres kovácsoltvas keretezésű Tiffany- üvegmennyezettel (készítője James Pitcairn Knowles) fedtek be, valamint a Róth Miksa készítette tőketerebesi rózsakertet és parkot ábrázoló három színes üvegablakát- átszállították az új férj tiszadobi kastélyába. (A II. világháborút követő időszak miatt ez a kollekció részben elpusztult, részben pedig elkallódott Tiszadobon. Csak egypár üveg- és kerámiadarab, illetve az ebédlő legfontosabb díszítménye, a vörösruhás nőt ábrázoló kárpit maradt csak az utókorra.)
