My wife and I on our recent trip tp Brittany, France, were amazed with the never ending beautiful, charming small towns. We would drive along back roads (our first choice!!) and almost always come across a lovely town like this.

QUELQUES PRECISIONS :
Finalement, j'ai interrompu mes publications beaucoup plus longtemps que prévu ... Car je suis allé randonner les 5 premiers jours qui ont suivi notre arrivée sur notre lieu de vacances. Cela m'a laissé peu de temps pour Flickr et j'étais très fatigué (d'autant plus avec la canicule et l'acclimatation à l'altitude au-delà de 2000m). De plus le Wifi est très lent (car partagé entre tous les vacanciers de la résidence). Mais là je profite de 3 jours orageux de mauvais temps depuis vendredi pour poster 1 aperçu de chacune de mes 5 premières randos.

France. Alpes. Savoie. Haute Tarentaise. Massif des Alpes Grées. Photo prise lors d'un aller-retour en solo au Col de la Traversette via le Roc Noir, au départ du quartier Les Eucherts (à l'EST de la Station de la Rosière). Cette randonnée offre une très belle vue au sud sur le Mont Pourri et au nord sur le Mont Blanc.
Photo prise depuis la Crête des Embrasures, qui sépare le Roc Noir et le Col de la Traversette. Cette crête est une crête rocheuse très découpée, avec d'impressionnantes falaises en versant ouest. Au 1er plan, on voit justement cette belle crête. Derrière, on voit l'arrivée du Télésiège du Plan du Repos, au niveau du Roc Noir. Et au fond, on voit le massif de la Vanoise, sur la rive opposée de la Tarentaise, avec le Mont Pourri(3779m) qui domine les débats à gauche.
De nombreuses hirondelles fendaient l'air à toute vitesse. L'une d'elles est passée à quelques mètres de moi avec grand bruit pour sa taille !

José María Lafragua
Don José María Lafragua, además de periodista fue novelista y cuentista. Su pluma ágil llegó a ser muy conocida en la mayoría de los países de habla hispana y sus tesis de jurisprudencia fueron dadas a conocer en las escuelas de leyes de Latinoamérica.
El licenciado Lafragua, con todo y su gran talento, era un hombre mortal que también sentía los dardos del amor. Tuvo un noviazgo muy feliz, como si fuese un adolescente, con la señorita Dolores Escalante; solicitó la mano de tan agraciada criatura y preparó todo para la boda. La ceremonia matrimonial debía celebrarse en el templo de San Fernando, contiguo al ahora clausurado cementerio del mismo nombre, donde descansan los restos de Benito Juárez y de otros grandes personajes mexicanos.
En el momento que los enamorados habían cruzado por la puerta principal y se dirigían al ara, la novia cayó muerta, tal vez víctima de un paro cardíaco.
Sobre la tumba de la infortunada novia se grabó el siguiente epitafio:
LLEGABA YA AL ALTAR FELIZ ESPOSA;
ALLÍ LE HIRIÓ LA MUERTE; AQUÍ REPOSA.
Pocos años después Lafragua entregaba su alma al Creador y sus amigos proyectaron esculpir una losa que diría:
ENCIENDE TUS ANTORCHAS, BELLA LOLA,
MURIÓ LAFRAGUA, YA NO ESTARÁS SOLA.

Tonight outside the convenience store I chanced upon a handsome ginger cat, who blinked slowly at me.
He's apparently a homeless drifter, just like our Sunny had been before we adopted him. I noticed an empty food bowl next to the parked motorcycle, which means someone (and I'm guessing the store clerks) had been feeding this orange boy.
His eyes are almond shaped like Joey but his fur is like Sunny's. Would I have taken him home? Judging from the long time Joey took just to tolerate Sunny's presence, I'd have to say no. 😓

C'est ma femme qui s'est rendue compte à juste titre que cet écureuil avait la même posture que Spider-Man sur les murs. Je suis d'accord.

Charles Gesner van der Voort had started his career in Rotterdam, at Holland-China Trading Company (HCHC). In 1938, he went to Shanghai for the firm. The Japanese interned him, and most other Dutch nationals, from 1943-45. In camp, he met his wife Nancy and they married after the war. After a leave in The Netherlands, they returned to the Orient, where Charles continued to work for HCHC in Hong Kong.
Royal Dutch Library has a great site for retrieving printed matter, especially newspapers. Several registrations of trade marks were found in Nederlandse staatscourant (Dutch State Gazette), accompanied by a drawing of the trade mark (Delpher.nl).
The caption reads:

One of the main trade products of Holland-China Trading Company, at least in the early years, was clothing and fabrics, produced in the Eastern part of the Netherlands, Twente.
