Steeple..

A trip to Cambridge and Paris Ontario turned out to be the perfect day for taking photos.

The sky was turbulent and moody, changing every few minutes from bright to dark from overcast to bright sunshine it was a real challenger for the light meter and my photography skills to keep it all in check.

The Old Main Street bridge that crosses the Grand River is the gateway to the lovely church.Grace Bible Church.

Vineyards above lake Geneva/Leman/Genfersee east of Lausanne, Switzerland. Does anyone know the name of this tree? It's everywhere in urban France, and to a much lesser extent Spain, the branches are cut down every winter, they grow tall thin branches with fat leaves in summer.

He is a big boy, but happy that way...

Northern Mockingbird Portrait

I spent about 12 hours on the road, in total, going to two different locations on the Quirinthe peninsula with three different drivers. The drivers varied in their willingness to stop for pictures, unfortunately. Some of the time I was forced to take very "quick" pictures. I did see a good deal of the countryside and the very primitive living conditions of the Macua people.

Homes are mud huts with thatched roofs. Usually there is no electricity and certainly no running water. Merely existing takes up a good deal of the day. The roads were remarkably good, but I saw few vehicles. The locals see very few travellers so to the children of the area I was their mystery for the day.

Plodding along due to high winds and the prospect of a crew change with another train, I was able to get the wide as well.

We just had to take a gondola ride, no matter that it was quite expensive. We got to see a very different side to the city by doing so.

she is so beautiful. her magic green eyes are every time so wide open. sometime the is sleeping with open eyes :-)

Balboa Park. San Diego, CA

well there's been a few shots of the sunrise in Auckland already on Flickr today, here's my contribution - was a beaut morning, the ship was a very slow beast so managed to take out the tiny bit of blur from the exposure.

There was even a seal bobbing around, never seen one in the gulf before and bit to far out for my 10-22mm but so good to watch this seen unfold in total peace with this chap.

(not HDR), colours were quite strong this morning

FG @ 1.6sces f8, sky 1/10 @ f8, DRI,-currently replacing my crap filters even though I did use my 3stop GND on this (not quite enough though)!

A wider view of the new flow of cars.

This image includes the redundant class 60's and a hint of colour. Oh, and a plane - right in the middle of the shot which was a complete fluke as I was shooting directly into the sun and had no idea it was there.

On Faraid Head, near Durness in the far north west of Scotland. On a subsequent visit three years ago the stripes were far less prominent.

One from the archives, taken with my first DSLR and a Sigma zoom which was ok at the wide end but very soft on one side when zoomed in.

Kohleria eriantha - red trumpet - after rain.

Kohleria is in the Gesneriaceae family. The most well-known members of this family are African violets. However, Kohleria is a genus from the New World. Kohleria plants are generally tropical herbs or subshrubs with velvety stems and foliage. Red trumpets are native to Colombia.

A pair of stamens is at the front of the flower.

The drops of water are at the tips of fine hairs on the flower.

I think I know why that particular planter of catnip doesn't seem to thrive.
