"I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I wanna take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name, oh oh
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do..."
Maybe my all-time favorite song from U2.
The Joshua Tree was the first album by U2 that I've bought. I had it in cassette tape (those were the days!). I was in my last year of junior-high, or secondary school, as we called here. It blew my head off.
In a time when we didn't have massive shows in Mexico, then we had in cinemas Rattle and Hum the next album by U2 the next year. This "musical journey", as they called. It was mainly filmed in black and white, but the at last part of the film, a the entire screen was lit in red, I remember perfectly this song and how perfectly sounded.
This is it: youtu.be/1iFwg-VXTxQ
Where The Streets Have No Name
I want to run, I want to hide
I wanna tear down the walls that hold me inside
I wanna reach out and touch the flame
Where the streets have no name, ha, ha, ha
I wanna feel sunlight on my face
I see that dust cloud disappear without a trace
I wanna take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name, oh, oh
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do
The city's a flood
And our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
High on the desert plain, yeah
Where the streets have no name, oh, oh
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there, I go there with you
It's all I can do
Our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, and I see love
See our love turn to rust
Oh, we're beaten and blown by the wind
Blown by the wind
Oh, when I go there
I go there with you
It's all I can do

Where The Streets Have No Name
Do you see only winter?
Only cold?
Dreadful ice and frigid snow?
UGH!!! And where's my shovel?
I see warm rose gold light.
chevron patterns in the pines.
A funky new hairstyle that matches my already salt and pepper hair and some cool dangly crystal chandeli-earrings to match.
That barnboard texture sure would look cool in a carpet and .....OOH! Look! a flycatcher!!
I can almost smell the ozone and feel my sinuses FINALLY open.
And I can hear.......well, anything and everything because the city noise certainly isn't drowning it all out...
So while some may question reality or perception, I say it is what you make it~
(ps... today's music choice brought to you by our 11yr old lil man... 2Cellos is his favorite "band" and the reason he wants to be a cellist. So, we entered him in the Greater Hartford Academy of The Arts magnet school lottery. please keep your fingers crossed for him!!)
We dared to crawl out of the bunker today and venture in to the city...
I was surprised to see how things had changed since the lockdown had begun.
What with the barricades, the bullet holes, the burnt out cars and the bodies in the Streets (quite possibly)
I think I'm going back under the duvet... Call me when its all over...

.Comments: This was a very tough shot, as it was raining a lot in Belfast that night. I had to be carefull to avoid waterdrops in the lens and mainly to protect the camera. Thanks to Raquel and Gabriel who supported me with the umbrellas. You were amazing guys! Hope you enjoy the result.
.Where: Belfast / Northern Ireland / UK [?]
.Info: Belfast City Hall is the civic building of the Belfast City Council. Located in Donegall Square, it faces north and effectively divides the commercial and business areas of the city centre.
Plans for the City Hall began in 1888 when Belfast was awarded city status by Queen Victoria. This was in recognition of Belfast's rapid expansion and thriving linen, rope-making, shipbuilding and engineering industries. During this period Belfast briefly overtook Dublin as the most populous city on the island of Ireland.
Construction began in 1898 under the supervision of architect Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas and was completed in 1906 at a cost of £369,000. Local firms H&J Martin and WH Stephens were among the companies involved in construction.
In October 2007 a 60 m Ferris wheel was constructed in the grounds, giving passengers panoramic views 200 ft (61 m) above the city. The wheel has 42 air-conditioned capsules, which can hold up to six adults and two children. It is due to remain until January 2009. However, the wheel still is situated here today. .Song: U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name
This song was inspired by the fact that in Belfast, by what street someone lives on, you can tell not only their religion (Catholic or Protestant) but tell how much money they’re making - literally by which side of the road they live on.

Una mattina mi son svegliato
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
Una mattina mi son svegliato
Eo ho trovato l'invasor
O partigiano porta mi via
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
O partigiano porta mi via
Che mi sento di morir
E se io muoio da partigiano
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
E se io muoio da partigiano
Tu mi devi seppellir
Mi seppellire lassù in montagna
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
Mi seppellire lassù in montagna
Sotto l'ombra di un bel fiore
E le genti che passeranno
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
E le genti che passeranno
Mi diranno: "Che bel fior"
È questo il fiore del partigiano
O bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
È questo il fiore del partigiano
Morto per la libertà
I could spend the entire summer on a different bench there, staring at the water & trees while listening to Joshua Tree. And with my July mood, that would be enough.

This is my last photograph of 2012, one of my favorites, I have to say. A year with highs and lows, smiles and tears, achievements and failures. But as I told my son, one must stand up and look forward. Looking forward for next year and hope that all of you will continue in this beautiful and photographic journey. My best wishes for all of you for this 2013 which has already begun.
This shot is the last one of my 1987 project, representing the music that was created 25 years ago. Some amazing music of some of my favorite groups. The Joshua Tree is one of my favorite albums and this photographic series is also one of my favorites. It was taken exactly four years ago. Hope you like it
The Joshua Tree is the fifth studio album by rock band U2. It was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, and was released on 9 March 1987 by Island Records. The Joshua Tree received critical acclaim, topped the charts in over 20 countries, and sold in record-breaking numbers. According to Rolling Stone, the album increased the band's stature "from heroes to superstars". It produced the hit singles "With or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and "Where the Streets Have No Name". The album won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1988. The group supported the record with the Joshua Tree Tour throughout 1987. Frequently featured on critics' lists of rock's greatest records, The Joshua Tree is one of the world's best-selling albums, with over 25 million copies sold.
