Once again a photo of one of my favourite areas of The Netherlands: the Posbank.
The combination of the beautiful blossoming purple heath, some of the few hills (mountains according to Dutch standards!) in the Netherlands and a foggy sunrise, create the recipe and circumstances for shooting some nice photos. Here is one of my attempts to capture the Posbank in its fully glory :)

We'd been walking all over the forest for hours exploring, filming birds and their sounds, photographing raindrops, slugs and whatever else we could find.
Energy levels were low, the apples were eaten and the berries all around us were still small and green.
During the day we'd seen sunshine and rain - followed a rainbow and fallen into the mud. The puddles were small, but seeped into our shoes. I found a thistle and had to hunt for a cure.
Now we were tired and inexplicably lost.
A shape in the shadow looked like an ellie to me. I waited, it was no elephant, but someone photographing and filming and they held the key. Out came a map and once more I was in touch.
So yes I was tired and just wanted to go, but an owl is an owl, and with directions in hand, I thought, just one more go. So I took the detour once more, and that is how, this photo came to be.
She saw me coming though the forest and was watching me long before I ever saw her, but never-the-less, she came out of the nest. She stood there quiet, patient, waiting, watching me. I daren’t move closer, I hoped she would call.

Poco urticante
Come Rhizostoma, non infligge punture dolorose e quindi non costituisce una minaccia per i bagnanti.
Habitat
Originaria dell’Australia. Nel 2009 un esemplare è stato visto per la prima volta lungo le coste italiane, precisamente all’isola di Tavolara, in Sardegna
Come riconoscerla
Biancastra e coperta di macchie bianche, da cui il nome: una medusa a pois. Appartiene alla stessa famiglia di Rhizostoma, in comune con la quale ha le dimensioni (anche più di 50 cm) e la struttura generale. Si nutre di plancton di crostacei e, probabilmente, di uova e di larve di pesci: è dunque sia un predatore che un competitore dei pesci e può causare l'impoverimento dei mari. Qualche anno fa ha invaso le coste della Florida, causando un improvviso crollo della fauna marina.
Come Rhizostoma, è commestibile.
When you have very small children with you and you go to Disneyland - be sure to get there as it opens and ride the train around to the very back. Toon Towne gets very crowded and if you do this you beat the crowd!
