We recently had a movie night with 2 other people. (Conan The Barbarian 2011 with Parthena and Eli; we all gave it 3/5 stars, 6/10, which is low but acceptable.) Four people is really crowded on the orange couch (from my grandparents), so we decided to switch the the leather couches (from my ex-co-worker), so there'd be room for 4 people.
Turns out we've left things this way. Leather works as a really good mousepad, so I don't have to use a mousepad except for QuakeLive. The high back makes me feel more isolated from the world behind me, but it's probably slightly harder to hear the rear speakers. It works well for parties like this, though.
But anyway... Anybody who's come over here a lot would be a bit surprised to see this.
And yea, we're just about to watch Todd Solondz's Welcome To The Dollhouse. We both rated it 4/5 stars on Netflix, and Clint rated it 8/10 on IMDB, as did Carolyn, who considered it a high 8 (8.4). It was a solid, typically awkward Todd Solondz film. This is from his early era of movies that I like (Fear Anxiety And Depression, Happiness) much much MUCH better than his later era of movies (Storytelling, Palindromes) (I rated Palindromes 5/10, putting it on the bottom 10th percentile for movies that I watch). It's rare for us to watch dramas -- of the last 72 movies we've watched, only 3 have been dramas. But we also like the "genre" of "fucked up", and this movie is quite fucked up. Quite fucked up indeed. A great reminder of how shitty people can be. Poor Dawn. "At 3 o'clock today, I'm gonna RAPE you!" "I don't mean to be a cunt." "'Why do you hate me?' 'Because you're ugly.'" The native rating for Welcome To The Dollhouse is: Netflix: 3.4/5 (which was also netflix's guess for us), IMDB: 7.4/10. So we liked it more than average, which is true for 95% of movies we watch.

Lena--- oh hello there boy? Abbey, who is this?
Abbey--- Oh that's Prince. He's been pretty standoffish since he got here a few months ago, but he seems to like you!
Lena---oh you think? I've always wanted a dog. Do you think Mom will let me keep him?
Abbey--- You bet! She has been trying to figure out which of all of us would take care of him. I'm sure she'll be thrilled!
Lena--- Oh goodie! :-)
Abbey--- the place is kind of chaotic right now as Mom still hasn't unpacked all the boxes from when she moved all the furniture around. But she is slowly getting things livable for us. There is a bedroom behind us, and a kitchen will be coming soon too! Mom make really great food!
Lena--- ooh-kay, so where do we stay?
Abbey--- Well it really depends on what Mom is thinking. Lily tends to sulk in the bedroom most of the time. you'll meet her tomorrow. Nance likes to do Victorian Cosplay, so she is in the 'parlor." I tend to hang out on the desk her as I've been modelling for Mom. Like my outfit?
Lena---um, yes it's very pretty. I rather like purple myself.
Abbey--- Ican see we're going to be best of friends!!!

Abbey--- Hi, I'm Abbey. Been here the longest, (at least of the gals our size) so I am kind of the welcoming committee! We're pleased to have you here! heck it's because of you that I'm here!
Lena--- *caught just a little off guard by this chatty gal.* Um Hi, I'm Lena.
Abbey---Of course you are! We are all thrilled that you have finally made it home.
Lena--- Um thanks
