The wide sweep of mountains in the distance, the different shades of green with tiny trails of pathways and the snaking Chamonix valley below make this panoramic scene breathtaking. A sense of freedom and wellbeing sweeps over you as stand and just observe. Nature at its finest.

New year - new me stuff that malarkey 😁

It's taken me 47 years to actually pick who I am apart.

I think we unconsciously take on our parents, ancestors, the community and times we live in; measuring other's, their apparent achievements successes at career, family life, a yard stick but to whose measurements...why those particular measurements, who decided?

maybe we decided - judging our own 'failures', 'mistakes' and general f-ups maybe if we stopped trying to just be what we think we need to be and were actually us. If maybe it all just is? we have good bits we have not so good bits, we have good times, we have bad times , the mistakes don't define us unless we dicks enough to allow them??

Alice ....the white rabbit was right....you have to really love yourself first.....and a good first step is to be loving with yourself ♥

So I don't want a new me, I am not my past, I am in charge of my peace and what makes me happy and fulfilled - I'm working with what I've got....building stability for my family in a way that's right for us with love.

I'm in the mid stages of developing a Social Enterprise based in North Wales - using photography for positive mental health and wellbeing not just on an individual level but also for the benefit of the local communities. To empower minority cohorts to develop agency through photography along with the positive impacts to their MH.

To help support other's growth.

At 27 I found myself in a bad situation....thinking it was too late for myself, I'd made my bed I would have to lie in it, no one else would love me this was it a pretty numb life

Yesterday doesn't matter,

It doesn't matter if you're 27, 47, 97, be you, do what makes you happy own you're all with pride♥

So if anyones not too bad at accounts, IT and all the awful admin stuff.....employee benefits; office in the countryside, I've got a proper proper coffee maker too 😁‍♀️

In these uncertain times it can be a struggle to understand how you can go on, how to look after your own well-being as well as those around you. There is always hope.

It would hardly be a surprise to know that a strong ‘green’ theme ran through the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show. Products and plants relating to sustainability, recycling, wellbeing, lifestyle and climate change were to be seen everywhere; Chelsea isn’t only about flowers.

Spring has returned, but this poor Lomo Color 100 roll was struggling to hold it together. Or maybe my developer was struggling. Or a bit of both. We're all struggling right now, trying to hold on, hold it together.

But this rainbow from last September, when the world didn't see so insane, was a little slice of perfection.

I took one day trip after my ill-fated July excursion. I walked along the banks of Crab Creek and then worked my weary way up into the heights above.

It wasn't meant to be a strenuous hike, but I was exhausted most of the time.

Over the winter, I've tried to keep in some sort of shape. I walk about five miles a day and I assume that's helping.

Next weekend will (likely) be my first day of the year back east. I plan on doing a few smaller hikes/walks mostly to keep warm and wear myself out. But I'm excited to get back. I miss the place when I'm away.

I could have decided to go today, but the weather report called for all clear skies. I'll gamble and wait for some clouds next weekend.

No camping yet, though. If I have to, I'm fine with camping in the low 30s, but if I don't have to (and I don't), I'd rather not.

You see the steam??

Some days before, in the countries around, everything was snowed!

I found this standing stone on my wander through these woods the other day. It is very near what appears to be an old Neolithic site, possibly an old farm or fort. The whole area screams of atmosphere and history and my imagination ran wild, with images in my head of clans of fairies meeting here to discuss matters of the forest.

Hoping for more fog tomorrow morning and a return trip to a previously explored wood that could produce some crackers in the right conditions. I also have a week off coming up which will definitely be put to use travelling to some new locations to scout out for Autumn.

I met this little group in my park the other day. They are part of Wheels for Wellbeing (wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk/) that provides disabled people with mobility; the gent on the left had had a stroke. The young lady allowed me to have a go on hers & it was wonderful! I quite fancy one!

There is something about the combination of mist and trees that is pure magic to me. The mist brings some kind of order to the chaos of a forest, showing layers and focussing the eyes on the important things while shrouding those that are less so.

I found a new wood the other day and the forecast tomorrow is for fog. There are some fabulous old Beech trees in these woods and after doing some test compositions the other day I have three shots in mind that I think will look amazing with some mist to diffuse the scene.

Have a great day folks!

I've only just finished uploading photos from the #LondonFlickrPhotowalk16 and then along comes #LondonFlickrPhotowalk17........

Taken earlier today on my way to the photowalk, I called by the Leadenhall Building in the City of London to see the 'Elysian Arcs' installation. This beguiling installation is formed of a number of inflatable forms made of an iridescent material that changes colour as the light changes. Well worth a visit if you can get to it before it disappears on March 15th.

For anyone interested, details of the next London Flickr photowalk will be announced soon so keep an eye on the www.flickr.com/groups/londonflickrgroup

From the City of London website, "Discover spectacular, rainbow-coloured arcs over 20ft-high at The Leadenhall Building, bringing joy to some of the darker months of the year.

Elysian Arcs will be situated at the foot of the iconic Leadenhall Building, affectionately known as The Cheesegrater. The installation will be open for all to experience from 10am-8pm daily until Friday 15th March.

The collection of ethereal arcs will be a striking contrast to the surrounding City architecture and will become even more impressive at dusk with internal lights bringing them to life. The ‘art-chitectural’ sculptures are made from a colour-reflecting dichroic film that reacts to changes in light, causing a rainbow of reflections and a unique picture from every angle. Elysian Arcs will also emit an ambient soundtrack, inviting people to move around and underneath the arcs, immersing themselves in this bubble-like environment.

Elysian Arcs is a free outdoor immersive light and sound installation created by award-winning design studio, Atelier Sisu. The Arcs have been commissioned by the Eastern City Business Improvement District (EC BID) and produced by FESTIVAL.ORG to help support the mental, physical and environmental wellbeing of workers in the City and across London, as part of the BID’s year-long RECHARGE 2024 campaign."

as a prerequisite for learning and studying ...

The learning center SQUARE is an extension of the campus of the University of St. Gallen (HSG). The university calls the new building an " experimental field " for new formats of learning and teaching, which, when mature, will be integrated into the " normal " HSG education.

Sou Fujimoto Architects, based in Tokyo and Paris, won the architectural competition with its "Open Grid" project. The jury attested it "an excellent interpretation and implementation of the didactic concept". Thanks to numerous major sponsors and donations from HSG alumni, operations could begin in the spring semester of 2022, as planned in the ambitious timetable, after a short construction period of around two years.

The building consists of several cubes arranged in a grid pattern, which range in height from 3.5 to 18.5 meters. Inside, modular building elements that are acoustically and visually connected to each other allow for adaptation to specific didactic needs such as panel discussions, lectures or exams. The new learning center creates space for 500 to 700 learning and workstations.
