On our back yard fence, this leaf, and the vine it's attached to, have survived the elements, including sun, heavy rain and winds, for months. Even in a very stiff wind, when other dried leaves on the fence are fluttering, it does not move.
Friends, I expected to 'graduate' from Planet Earth this month. But, due to a very surprising development, that has changed. I now have at least a few more weeks, possibly more, here in this body. Quite a roller coaster ride. I will continue to post photos on Flickr and on Facebook as long as I am able to.
Thank you very much for your kind interest in and support of my photography, and well-being. I am grateful. ♥
A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.
Meet one of five owlets in a wild Great Horned Owl family raised on Saanich Peninsula private property.
This little one fell out of the nest way too early and needed a bit of help. Our local raptor rescuers strung up a basket in a tree next to the nest tree; the nest being too far up and awkward to reach, in order to get this owlet off the ground.
What followed were subsequent visits to make sure the parents were still caring for this unfortunate one. All went well.
Being acquainted with the rescuers, I was invited along on the last check up inspection, after all five owlets had fledged.

Yesss, I would be so happy in a place like this.
In 2019 I had to deal with health issues, and it drained my energy, I was running on "automatic mode". During the first lockdown, I could complete my healing and rest, and since this past winter, I'm full-on making changes for the better, focusing on my well-being and inner peace.
Started with small changes... and now working on bigger ones...

This person is one of my Muslim student who is praying on the occasion of Eid Mubarak.
With divine joy in my heart and a big smile on my face, I am sending you Eid-ul-Fitr wishes. May the Lord help us all be kind and virtuous. Eid Mubarak.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is a holy month of fasting and considered auspicious. It is celebrated as the month during which Prophet Muhammad received the initial revelations of what became the Quran, from God. Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day during Ramadan to purify the soul and have empathy towards the less privileged. They offer prayers and encourage charity. Ramadan teaches self-control and self-reflection. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated marking the end of the month of Ramadan.
This Eid, let us plead for the well-being of our earth and lead with integrity.

What is reminded of him is a photo of mine, because he has recently razed to the ground.
Once the steel industry was one of the main engines of employment in the Liege region, but the Arcelormittal Steel Group bought the blast furnaces from the former owner in 2011 and already in 2014 the fires were extinguished.
Their objective is to eliminate all competition and to concentrate the steel industry in low-wage countries or emerging economies, where the environment, the well-being of people, working conditions and wages are of no importance whatsoever.
Money, more money and even more money is the only thing what interest them.
They even not have taken the trouble in research or investment in the absolutely necessary new environmental technoligies.
The fact that thousands of workers in the Liege region are unemployed and have fallen into poverty leaves them cold for the Belgian government has to pay this costst and solve this big problem.
Whatever, large shareholders let it be cold, but because of their obsession with captial and greed they don't notice that they have sold their souls to the devil..........

White elephants are considered sacred in Buddhist countries and promise happiness and well-being. But the way in which they are kept couldn't be more contradictory, and it suggests that this is why the animals are particularly spoiled. But a visit to Burma's white elephants reveals the opposite.
Six of the nine white elephants that are in captivity in Burma are vegetating here in the elephant house in the capital Nay Pyi Taw. They eke out their lives on a few square meters.
A taxi driver explains that the tied animals are a symbol of the power of the military. So everything is under control.
In fact, a prominent Burmese elephant expert, who is afraid of being named, confirms that the highest army generals and their entourage visited the white elephants in the capital Nay Pyi Taw regularly.
One of the country's two vice presidents is also one of the weekly visitors. They all believed the animals would bring good luck and maintain power.

My husband is getting better each and every day. Amen! Slow and steady wins the race. I am trying to get back to feeling normal after the month of stress and it is not easy. I am sure all of you know that feeling to some degree. Sometimes I think it is more exhausting worrying about the ones I love than myself. I pour my heart into my loved ones and often times I am told I forget completely about my health and my own well being. Bad habit? I don't think so. When I invest myself in the needs of others, my pains seem to disappear. Try it. :)

Taikodani Inari Shrine is the demon gate of Sanbonmatsu Castle (Tsuwano Castle) in 1773, when the 7th lord of the Tsuwano Domain, Norisada Kamei, prays for the peaceful protection of the Tsuwano Domain and the well-being of the people. It was the first time that the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto worshiped at the peak of Taikodani at the northeastern end.

We all have families and friends that we love. Surely before starting a war, or even considering continuing a war, a person should evaluate the devastation left behind after the war.
War causes the destruction of physical infrastructure, the psychological well-being of children, those fighting in the war, and those left under the bombing. The destruction of families, both psychologically and through death. The scarcity of food and general products. It interferes and can destroy general transit, interferes with the education of children, caring for the sick and the elderly. Leaving many homeless.
Finances are very tight after the war. In other words, life is totally changed for the worse for quite a long time after a war, basically all for nothing. Usually started in the name of tyrannical power and wealth. There is nothing good about war, everything is good and possible about peace. In peace life still has its ups and downs but not by force and democracy has its legitimate place.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day and spread love and kindness! ❤️❤️❤️
The famous thermal springs of Saturnia are widely known and a popular destination, not only for tourists. Also the residents of the region like to use the healing effect of the hot sulfur springs during a relaxing bath in the midst of a beautiful natural landscape.
Even in ancient times, Dante rapturously mentioned the famous Terme di Saturnia in his Divine Comedy. The hot sulfur springs of Saturnia have a healing effect on joints and skin and generally strengthen the well-being. A particularly beneficial effect is noted for rheumatism and arthritis. From the thermal spring 800 liters of sulfurous 37°C warm healing water gush out every second.
The thermal town of Saturnia belongs to the province of Grosseto and is located in the south of Tuscany, in the Maremma. The village with about 600 inhabitants is situated on a hill about 4 km north of the famous waterfall. It is one of the first Etruscan towns in Italy. Some remains of the ring wall from Etruscan times can still be seen next to the Porta Romana. The castle of Saturnia is privately owned and therefore unfortunately cannot be visited.
Most tourists, however, are attracted less by the medieval village than by the famous waterfall of Saturnia. If you travel from the direction of Manciano, the waterfall can already be seen from the road, next to a restored mill. The water cascades down a rock wall, collects in a natural pool and then falls again from a grotto into step-like sinter pools. There, visitors can then bask in the healing sulfur water free of charge. The free bathing pleasure can be enjoyed all year round and at any time of the day or night.
Chickadees weigh less than 1/2 of an ounce (<14g) and harsh winters can be life threatening to these tiny songbirds. They would need our help during cold winter days. Research has shown that when the temperature falls below 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 C), the survival rate of chickadees almost doubled when they had access to feeders! Feeding these songbirds during the coldest months increased their overall winter survival rate to 69% versus a 37% survival rate of those not having access to feeders.
Also, an experimental study from 2024 found that watching birds improves well-being and reduces stress. It also connects us to nature and promotes much needed conservation :)

Little kittens are like our own little babies; they need to be touched and know that they are loved and are an important member of the family. Touch is a fundamental human and animal need giving profound impacts on both physical and mental well-being. A warm touch can reduce stress, create a feeling of security, alleviate pain, amd help build strong and lasting relationships.
With heartfelt thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful day, stay healthy, stay alert, appreciate the beauty around you, enjoy your creativity, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

One of only three conifers that annually shed their needles, a stand of tamaracks (or larch) creates an effective focal point on a grey and misty day on the lake. The other two are the dawn redwood and the bald cypress. Don't you hate it when someone says "one of two or three" or "the second largest" and fails to list the others? In any event, they make for an appealing border for the lake, here pictured just before dropping their needles for another year.
I was able to get out in the canoe twice last week as the winds were calm and the temps in the 30sF/10aC...a bit nippy but fine after getting the muscles going. The last time there were actually snow flurries, somehow enhancing the quietude. I noted with deep regret that my loons have gone. It is remarkable what an integral and intimate part of my life they have become. Replacing them is a large (60-70) flock of Goldeneye ducks which arrive late every year, and take off en masse for the other end of the lake whenever I get within 50 yards of them, repeating the exercise when they see me coming again on my circuit. They, too, will be gone soon, this a very brief stopover on their migration.
As for other activity, the muskrats which abound are busy harvesting the remaining water lilies, and a lone Canadian goose cruises the shoreline causing me to wonder about its well-being.
It is a quiet time on the lake.
