On our back yard fence, this leaf, and the vine it's attached to, have survived the elements, including sun, heavy rain and winds, for months. Even in a very stiff wind, when other dried leaves on the fence are fluttering, it does not move.
Friends, I expected to 'graduate' from Planet Earth this month. But, due to a very surprising development, that has changed. I now have at least a few more weeks, possibly more, here in this body. Quite a roller coaster ride. I will continue to post photos on Flickr and on Facebook as long as I am able to.
Thank you very much for your kind interest in and support of my photography, and well-being. I am grateful. ♥
Meet one of five owlets in a wild Great Horned Owl family raised on Saanich Peninsula private property.
This little one fell out of the nest way too early and needed a bit of help. Our local raptor rescuers strung up a basket in a tree next to the nest tree; the nest being too far up and awkward to reach, in order to get this owlet off the ground.
What followed were subsequent visits to make sure the parents were still caring for this unfortunate one. All went well.
Being acquainted with the rescuers, I was invited along on the last check up inspection, after all five owlets had fledged.

A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years. They are incredibly diverse and complex, home to more than half of the world’s plant and animal species—even though they cover just 6% of Earth’s surface. This makes rainforests astoundingly dense with flora and fauna. Rainforests’ rich biodiversity is incredibly important to our well-being and the well-being of our planet.

White elephants are considered sacred in Buddhist countries and promise happiness and well-being. But the way in which they are kept couldn't be more contradictory, and it suggests that this is why the animals are particularly spoiled. But a visit to Burma's white elephants reveals the opposite.

A taxi driver explains that the tied animals are a symbol of the power of the military. So everything is under control.
In fact, a prominent Burmese elephant expert, who is afraid of being named, confirms that the highest army generals and their entourage visited the white elephants in the capital Nay Pyi Taw regularly.
One of the country's two vice presidents is also one of the weekly visitors. They all believed the animals would bring good luck and maintain power.

A beautiful Lioness we spotted while on a 2023 photo safari in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. She stopped her search for prey just long enough to show me those eyes.
In the savannas of Africa, female lions play a crucial and dynamic role in their familial groups, shaping the social structure and bearing the responsibility for the pride’s survival. Contrary to some common misconceptions, lion prides operate within a matriarchal social structure, where females hold the key roles in decision-making and coordination.
Lionesses are the primary hunters within the pride. Their exceptional teamwork and strategic approach to hunting are essential for the pride’s survival and well-being. Together, they deploy strategic hunting techniques, such as coordinated flanking and ambushing, to outwit their prey. Their synchronized efforts increase the likelihood of a successful hunt to secure food for the entire pride.
Male lions are typically responsible for protecting their pride from other males. However, the females play a vital role in defending the pride’s territory against threats such as leopards, hyenas, neighboring prides, and occasionally other males. The survival of a pride often hinges on the lionesses’ ability to protect their territory.
The lionesses’ strong maternal instincts are at the foundation of the pride’s social bonds. As a group, they are responsible for raising and nurturing the cubs. They teach essential survival skills, including hunting techniques and social behaviors, which ensure the continuity of the pride’s legacy. The pride communicates through vocalizations and body language, fostering a strong sense of community. The bonds formed among females contribute to the overall success and stability of the group.
In the lion pride, females emerge as the unsung heroes, weaving together the threads of survival, protection, and legacy. Their role as huntresses, defenders, nurturers, and leaders is integral to the pride’s success.

A regatta is a term commonly used in the world of sailing to refer to a competitive event where boats, typically sailboats, race against each other. Regattas can vary widely in scale and format, from small local races to large international competitions. Here are some key points to note about regattas:
Racing Format: Regattas feature organized racing events with specific rules and courses. The format can include different types of races, such as fleet races (where multiple boats race against each other), match races (one-on-one competition), or distance races (longer courses that test endurance).
Classes and Categories: Boats participating in a regatta are often grouped into classes or categories based on factors like size, design, and performance. This ensures fair competition and allows sailors with similar boats to compete against each other.
Competitors: Regattas attract a diverse range of participants, from amateur sailors and local yacht club members to professional racers and international teams. The level of competition can vary, with some regattas focused on fostering community participation, while others are highly competitive.
Events and Festivities: Regattas often extend beyond the races themselves. Many regattas incorporate social events, parties, and gatherings, fostering a sense of camaraderie among sailors and providing opportunities for networking and socializing.
Local and International: Regattas can be local, regional, or international in scope. Some famous international regattas, like the America's Cup or the Volvo Ocean Race, draw global attention and feature top-level professional sailors and cutting-edge technology.
Traditions: Regattas often have their own unique traditions and rituals, which can vary by location and the history of the event. These traditions can include ceremonial flag-raising, prize-giving ceremonies, and more.
Spectator Sport: Many regattas are open to spectators, allowing them to watch the races from the shore or designated viewing areas. Some regattas, like Cowes Week, are famous for their onshore festivities, making them attractive not only to sailors but also to spectators.
Safety and Rules: Regattas prioritize safety, with strict rules and regulations in place to ensure the well-being of participants. Organizers also monitor weather conditions closely to determine whether races should proceed.
Diverse Types: Regattas can focus on various types of sailboats, including dinghies, keelboats, multihulls, and more. They can also be specific to certain age groups or skill levels, making the sport accessible to a wide range of participants.
A regatta is a thrilling and organized sailing competition that brings together sailors of all levels and backgrounds to race their boats while fostering a sense of community and celebrating the sport of sailing. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a spectator, regattas offer an exciting and enjoyable experience on the water.

Binx and I have been friends since Year 9... we had a little band together - she played the drums and I sang (karaoke styles :o), eventually the band disbanded on the account of us "growing up" and all that serious stuff...
I'm finally on holidays guys... YAY!!! WHOOOOO!!! Binx drove me all the way to uni to drop off my last essay and then we walked around and took photos...
I feel I'm in a very nice place right now. Everything is a bit magical. I just want to lie down and enjoy the sense of closeness and well being I feel, deep amongst The Roaches. Ok I sound like I've gone a bit weird, but I feel calm and happy. And I'm smiling to myself, the whole damned time.

Prayers for the well-being and safety of all the wonderful people of Hawaii as Hurricane Lane passes.
Taikodani Inari Shrine is the demon gate of Sanbonmatsu Castle (Tsuwano Castle) in 1773, when the 7th lord of the Tsuwano Domain, Norisada Kamei, prays for the peaceful protection of the Tsuwano Domain and the well-being of the people. It was the first time that the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto worshiped at the peak of Taikodani at the northeastern end.
It's been a while and a few have asked about the well-being of the cat and I am pleased to report she's fine...though admittedly less inclined to venture out into the cold than she once was.

Compassionate humans are everywhere if we are willing to open our eyes and see the kindness of those around us. Compassion is human nature.
So why dont we as humans show more compassion and kindness towards our planet, to Mother Nature, the environment and nature surrounding us. It makes me wonder. Why are we destroying the beauty of nature?
Why dont we acknowledging the need of animals, and nature in general, and the importance of their survival, as well as showing interest in their well-being, after all we need nature to be able to live here on earth.
I want to yet again praise and thank Una and Bo for putting the environment on the agenda, by making this sim.
I hope many will visit, but I also hope and wish people will take the time to sit down and reflect about what they see on the sim, this could very well be a real life scenario if we dont stop and think. By doing so hopefully we can make some changes in the way we treat our planet and the environment, we can all do something, even if little. It is a fact that global warming and climate change is effecting all of us. Some of the things we all can notice are: pollution, global warming, overpopulation, waste disposal, ocean acidification, loss of biodiversity, deforestation, ozone layer depletion, and the list goes on....

Chickadees weigh less than 1/2 of an ounce (<14g) and harsh winters can be life threatening to these tiny songbirds. They would need our help during cold winter days. Research has shown that when the temperature falls below 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12 C), the survival rate of chickadees almost doubled when they had access to feeders! Feeding these songbirds during the coldest months increased their overall winter survival rate to 69% versus a 37% survival rate of those not having access to feeders.
Also, an experimental study from 2024 found that watching birds improves well-being and reduces stress. It also connects us to nature and promotes much needed conservation :)

Why is love so old
I made a promise, but it's weird
I had a question
I wonder if all dolls accept this kind of well-being
The cloth heart won't get old
Sitting on a very high top of the cabinet
But you know, I'm not here to see the stars
My effort to meet you
Please take good care of me, my love, my eternity
It's a beautiful night, even if I don't want to
Sit on the right side to say goodbye
Look at these stars
My heart shines when I think about it like that
I think every doll accepts this kind of well-being
Please take good care of your love forever
I'm going to meet you
Everything that I won't meet you
Little kittens are like our own little babies; they need to be touched and know that they are loved and are an important member of the family. Touch is a fundamental human and animal need giving profound impacts on both physical and mental well-being. A warm touch can reduce stress, create a feeling of security, alleviate pain, amd help build strong and lasting relationships.
With heartfelt thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful day, stay healthy, stay alert, appreciate the beauty around you, enjoy your creativity, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
The ice saints and Sophie gave us low temperature, some clouds and windy, rough conditions.
And great well-being.
Another young picture of the Eastern Cottontail who has lived under my deck since the second week of May. Aubrey is considerably bigger now, about two weeks later, from all the voracious "grassing" he/she has been doing lately.
A sibling has started frequenting my yard in the last few days and the mother regularly comes by seemingly to check on Aubrey's well being.
There is still a lot of snow on the ground, on the roads, on the streets and sidewalks. It is still possible to slip.
Nine days have passed since that unforgettable Saturday when the snowstorm known as Filomena visited us and brought so much snow, and this is the current situation after the snowfall, already waiting for the rains to arrive next Wednesday and to raise the temperatures to finish melting the snow. We can't ask for anything else.
In the photo, a car leaves its red trails when driving on the street, with a single lane clear of snow. In the background, the rolling control tower of the NET building, at Madrid-Barajas Airport.
If you enlarge the photo, you will see the accumulations of snow, formed after passing the snowplow.
I wish you a good Monday, good health and well-being!

Let this year easily enter into the life of each of us, give a lot of positive, vital energy, inspiration, love and creativity, stability and reliability, well-being and comfort! I wish everyone that dreams come true as quickly as possible and inspire new goals! Let the simple formula of human happiness always work in your life: kindness plus joy equals happiness. Let the New Year open a new path – the path to love and success. Do not turn from it and go only forward!....The red berry is a late dawn.
How bitter you are, and how beautiful!

Manuka honey has been used by Maori indigenous populations for centuries, Its properties associated with health promotion, particularly the reinforcement of defenses and combating infections, allowed it to be recognized as one of the purest alternatives to help maintain health and well-being, however, despite being the general knowledge that has several health benefits, many people are unaware of the reason why it is considered a superfood.

Finely chopped leaves can be used as a spice, for example in salads. Herbaceous parts are edible as vegetables after long cooking.
When used for a longer period of time, field mustard contributes to an increase in well-being and joy of life.
Field mustard has positive effects in the garden. Thanks to its sulphur content, it kills harmful bacteria and fungi in the soil. It also loosens up heavy soils. Easy to grow and enjoy.

😡😲😾😾😾😡Concerns about the common garden bird’s well being have been raised in recent years as birdwatchers have reported fewer Blackbirds in their gardens, especially in the Greater London area since 2020. This decline has been linked to the recent appearance of a mosquito-borne virus (Usutu virus) affecting the species in England. 😮😭😭

Clouded Sulphur (Colias philodice)
This quick medium-sized butterfly is one of the most abundant in North America. It has seasonal color variations that range from a white to yellow. The dark spots vary as well, being more pronounced during the cool months in spring and fall. They can be seen flying close to the ground and frequently visit flowers and mud puddles. Where there is one, there are usually many. Enjoy these magnificent butterflies as they visit all your favorite areas in gardens, lawns, and parks.
