The Monostor Fortress - the largest modern fortress in Central Europe - was built between 1850 and 1871. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the neoclassical military monument is a fascinating sight with its huge walls of precisely hewn stone, the 3-4 metre thick earthen ramparts covering the defences and its network of underground passages (kazamata) several kilometres long.
Its monumental dimensions are evidenced by the following figures: The fortress covers 25 hectares, the total area including the firing ranges is 70 hectares, the floor area of the buildings is 25 680 m2 and the number of rooms is 640.
After the fortress was built, it served generations of soldiers of the Hungarian Defence Forces. Its tasks included the defence of the central fortress (North - Komárom) and the control of shipping on the Danube. It was never used in combat and served mainly as a training centre and weapons depot. During the First World War it was used as a conscription and training centre. During the Second World War, the 22nd Infantry Regiment had its headquarters at Fort Monostor, and the soldiers of the 1st and 2nd Infantry Regiments were stationed there. After the Second World War.
Between 1945 and 1990, the Red Army's Army Group South set up the largest ammunition depot in Central Europe in the fort. With their withdrawal, the military function of the fortress ended forever.
Today the fort is a popular destination with a military history exhibition, Cold War vehicles, a bread museum, a boat exhibition and numerous events.
Beauty is our weapon against nature; by it we make objects, giving them limit, symmetry, proportion. Beauty halts and freezes the melting flux of nature.

The Royal Guards of Gyeongbokgung Palace, located in Seoul’s Jongno District, are part of a ceremonial reenactment that brings to life the traditions of the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1897). Historically known as "Sumunjang" (수문장), these guards were responsible for protecting the main palace gates, particularly Gwanghwamun, the palace’s most iconic entrance.
Today, the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony is a meticulously choreographed cultural performance held several times a day in front of Gwanghwamun Gate. The guards wear vibrant traditional uniforms, historical armor, and period hats, all crafted with impressive attention to detail. Each costume reflects specific ranks and roles, and includes authentic replicas of traditional weapons such as halberds and Korean swords (geom).
The ceremony blends traditional music, formal movements, and a solemn atmosphere, allowing visitors to experience a vivid glimpse of Korea’s past. Although the participants are not actual soldiers but trained performers and cultural staff, the commitment to historical accuracy is strict, offering an immersive portrayal of the palace's former security system.
Beyond its visual appeal, the ceremony stands as a symbolic reminder of Korea’s enduring cultural heritage and the central role Gyeongbokgung Palace once held as the seat of royal authority.

I have to wonder what the horses thought about the battle, given that the cannons and rifles were fired frequently, so there is not only smoke billowing across the field but the cacophony of discharged weapons, all of which are quite loud and can likely be heard for a substantial distance. I'll assume the horses used during the demonstration have seen and heard more than a few battles, but this horse appears ready for some R&R.
A Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina) strikes a pose while grooming her raptorial forelegs. Photographed where found, perched on a white-topped pitcher plant in North Carolina.
Bunker Solo weapons delivery, always delivered with the trucks, with the other vehicles there is no time, keep changing sections until the trucks appear.
You don't need to be in a hurry to make the delivery, take it easy, but if you have an accident, don't worry, there will be time to make the delivery.
My third entry for round 3 of the Iron Forge. This build started out with the idea for a bow, which I was planning on building a character for. After trying a plethora of different designs, I wasn’t coming up with anything I liked, so I switched to an armory scene and added several other weapons to go with the bow.
