Eight Worcester Academy seniors signed NCAA National Letters of Intent at a special ceremony affirming their decision to attend top colleges offering athletic grant in aid. Among them were six members of our baseball team: Brendan Conley, Bristol, RI, who will attend UBuffalo; Craig Hanrahan Corliss, Hopkinton, who will attend Siena; Patrick Gallagher, Worcester, who will attend Wagner; Joseph Pasquale Sacco, Shrewsbury, who will attend URI; Brendan Powicki, Hingham, who will attend Stonehill; and Mariano Ricciardi, West Boylston, who will attend Florida Atlantic. Also signing were Christa Moore, Hubbardston, who will attend Holy Cross (Track & Field), and Madeline Murphy, Norton, who will attend Southern New Hampshire University (Basketball). The Worcester Academy Varsity Club honored two alumni—standout WA multi-sport athletes—at its dinner Thursday. Those honored included former Green Bay Packer Joe Shield '81 and London history professor Dr. Caitjan Gainty '93, who was unable to attend. Today's Middle School Diversity Day was a chance for students (and staff) to learn from and about one another. The keynote speaker was Dr. Michael Fowlin, a psychologist-actor whose presentation created an atmosphere of inclusion. Among the workshops offered were Djembe drumming, Salsa dancing & fingerprint art. Thanks to our Synergy Club and to the WA Office of Equity and Inclusion for organizing this day! #WAvaluesdiversity #WAdifference

WA students enjoyed a master class Thursday with accomplished American soprano Jane Shivick. Ms. Shivick, whose daughter is Megan Dickie '19, has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, and other premier orchestras over the years, and in venues as varied as the Boston Esplanade and Mechanics Hall.
