Long exposure moonrise over San Francisco
Vee and I visited the Marin Headlands to catch a glimpse of the full moon - supposedly larger this weekend than it will be for some time - and ended up settling at Horseshoe Bay, beneath the bridge.
Multiple exposures were hand-fused into a HDR composition that takes advantage of data from 3 different images. I was surprised at the huge amount of detail captured here especially since the only lens I used was the 28-300.
Adding a splash of bright colour to the green grass this Red Wax Cap (Hygrocybe coccinea) certainly stands out. The hole in the cap would seem to indicate the slugs like them too, but it does rather look like a skull is trying to escape!
In typical fashion when I get home from work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I'm greeted by H11 switching out International Wax and today I had to double take when I saw this duo of old school motors drilling away off the South main. Typically H11 is a pair of RCLS units but for some reason they grabbed the 6012-5871 off the CWR train that yarded in Toronto the day prior. Without hesitation I grabbed my gear and went down for a shot, my first time going down here too, it certainly was worth it.

In the past, sealing wax was used for closing letters, envelopes and packs, in order to prevent undesired reading or theft of contents.
Nowadays, the use of sealing wax is decorative rather than effective.

Taken to try out my new Sigma 170-500mm lens. Not much time to get settings correct as moon disappeared from view shortly after this shot was taken.
Still life, it's so nice to have some cut flowers at home to look at now in this freezing temperature outside.
I've shot this scene in the Peak District quite a few times but tonight's waxing moon was pretty much in exactly the right place to cast its light on this scene.
A Waxing Crescent is the first Phase after the New Moon. During this phase the Moon can be seen in the western sky after the sun dips below the horizon at sunset.

Have a great Hump Day Wednesday Y'all
. . . Or if you prefer, a moon that is almost full! The setting sun was shining on the birch tree cocoons (flowers) in the driveway, and if turned sideways, I could of said a bunch of dandelions were growing out to the moon!
Have a great weekend Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!! After all of the rain we have had the past week, we deserve a good weekend!
I did one similar to this a couple of days ago. This new one is part of a Forum discussion at photo.net.
