This was taken as the sun was setting at Great Staple Tor in Dartmoor National Park in the South West of England. A beautiful evening and the only sunset I saw all week

Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages.

Therefore the flower iris in the language of flowers symbolises eloquence.

A purple iris is symbolic of wisdom and compliments.

A blue iris symbolises faith and hope.

A yellow iris symbolises passion while white iris symbolises purity.

As you can see, the gift of iris can be used to convey many emotions.

Dutch irises are hybrids of two older varieties, giving it a look all its own.

The distinctive ‘fleur-de-lis' flowers come in a variety of blues, yellows, purples, and white.

Organic, sensual, all about shape and colour.

The Iris is just born elegance... extremely ephemeral, they barely last a few days, yet with unbelievable beauty and style.

Best to leave them in the garden... like so many of the bulbs!

Wishing you a colourful day and thanks for commenting, always appreciated, M, (*_*)

Warm water flowing into Mud Lake keeps small areas from freezing and creates mist in the cold winter air. I blocked the reflected sunlight with the marsh grass and underexposed two stops to create this steamy silhouette. The darker area near the top of the photo is where ice starts after the water has cooled off.

Because it was -16 F here this morning, I think I just wanted to see something warmer!

Nutmeg, laying on one of the heat vents! For Happy Caturday!!

Going through old images from a different computer and forgot about this one. I can smell the warm rain and the sunshine... what... you can smell sunshine.

Morning walk with trees. . . . HTmT day!! 👍

We are near a creek, so, hopefully, their long roots are taking a drink of water!

I pulled over on Hwy 26 to grab this sunset and some storm pics

The first light had just struck this Harrier as it was sitting comfortably on this bush. This was my very first encounter with this fella. I realized from this point on how comfortable he was with my presence. Image was barely cropped on the right side. Click image for large rendition :)

Yes the hat and coat kept me warm dry and cosy😉

What makes you feel warm tonight? Like Prague, like love or what else? Bu akşam ne olsa içini ısıtır? Prague gibi, aşk gibi bir şey mesela…? BeNowMeHere, Prague, Czech Republic, 2013 via 500px bit.ly/2hF2rW6

The original shot was taken with a warming filter, so I didn't have to do any adjusting of colors before painting this.

I find it hard to describe this capture. In fact it is my dog's squeaky toy standing on the wood burner next to the kettle within the fireplace. However I love the light on the bare bricks, the reflection on the kettle and the oddity of the toy pig on a wood burner. Photography is about so much more than the objects in front of you.

I hope you’re warm, dry and happy on this January weekend! We’re being hit with a blizzard—there’s more than a foot and a half of snow outside right now, with the gusty winds and snow expected to continue through Sunday morning. Earlier today I was able to open the back door enough to squeeze out and clear an opening. I gave the birds that gathered a little bit of seed mix on the cleared ground, but it all covered over so quickly, I had to repeat both a little while ago.

These are flowers from the Mediterranean Garden in Longwood’s conservatory. I don’t necessarily wish it was spring yet (the years go by too fast as it is!), but I wish I was there today. Actually, no one got to enjoy that today-- Longwood, like just about everything else in the storm’s target area, is closed for the weekend...

Two images of Over Owler Tor taken a in different conditions. The warm-toned image was taken just after sunset on a fine day and the cool-toned image was taken at sunset on a cloudy day. Both images were taken from Higger Tor but, as can be seen from the different position of elements on the horizon, from slightly different places.
