I want to imagine a place, where this never ending story, can be explored. A place where we can be protected. Protected to love. Protected.
Why do we repeat this over and over.
NO NO NO!

Columbia Basin Railroad SD9s 608, 166, 171, and 12 along with GP9u 2274 and SD19-1 652 cross a wooden trestle as they approach the yard at Warden, WA, with a sizeable Connell Turn.
First air show of 2022! Cloudy and cool, but at least the rain held off.
This Spitfire has previously been displayed with ‘clipped’ wings. Removing the wingtips improves manoeuvrability at lower levels, but at the expense of performance at higher altitudes. It is nice to see this Spitfire being displayed with the famous elliptical wing .
The Columbia Basin Railroad's fleet of vintage EMDs are fired up for a day of hauling freight at Warden, Wash., on Oct. 12, 2020.

A rather old looking corvid on overwatch.
I may not be able to upload for a few days as I am taking my imminently failing drive for some data recovery. I need all fingers crossed as I have chosen a local service, with good reviews, that is considerably cheaper than other quotes that I have received online. I know that is a risk but I simply can't afford the fees that other data recovery companies are quoting. Most of my work is backed up at least, it is just this past 12 months that I risk losing. Still, scary, and it has been an important 12 months in my journey.
I'll be around to enjoy your photos whatever happens.
Take care everyone.
A shot from the archives and taken at Old Warden Airfield , home of the Shuttleworth Collection .
Details of the plane taken from The Shuttleworth Collection webpage --
G-EBWD has been based at one aerodrome (Old Warden) for longer than any other aeroplane in aviation history. A record that is unlikely to ever be beaten!
The aircraft was built in 1928 and used by the Brooklands School of Flying. Richard Shuttleworth learnt to fly in ‘BWD which he purchased in 1932 as his first aeroplane. It was originally powered by a 65hp Cirrus I engine but in 1933 it was re-engined with a 105hp Cirrus Hermes II.
It escaped being impressed into the RAF during the Second World War and survived in storage at Old Warden. Since the war, and performs regularly at flying displays at Old Warden.

Looking over the reed-filled pond to Smailholm Tower. This scheduled ancient monument is a peel tower sitting atop Lady Hill in the Scottish Borders; dating to the early 1400s, this watchtower defended a volatile border between Scotland and England. Smailholm is now maintained by Historic Scotland.
After several movements on the yard tracks building their southbound train, CBRW 1747 south pulls up to the 'S' curve at county road 10 SE. This location is just south of the Warden yard. There is an berm on the east side of the tracks, with a large rock pile on it. The pile seemed like the perfect location to shoot from to maximize elevation above the tracks. While perched on the pile, waiting for the train, I noticed a recently shed snake skin from a girthy rattlesnake wedged between the rocks at the base of the pile. The next ten minutes until the train departed passed very slowly for me...
A beautiful pair of CBRW SD9s and an SD19-1 throttle across a wooden trestle on their approach into Warden, WA.
Pilot Gabriel Barton at the controls of this Spitfire Mk Vc, serial EE602. The metallic, circular fuel filling point is clearly visible on top of the cowling.
A reasonably well resolved image - the stencilled 'Walkway' wording is clearly legible.
The six exhausts on each side of the engine are paired into three 'fish tails' - these both suppressed any flames emanating from the exhausts (which could be seen from a great distance in low light) and also created a tiny bit of extra thrust.
Based at Duxford, this Spitfire was photographed at Old Warden in August of 2024.
Fantastic to see these ~80 year old aircraft roaring around the sky. It was a great display on Sunday - these pictures hardly convey the noise and thrill.
Four Columbia Basin Railway SD9s, a GP9u, and an SD19-1 thunder uphill past an old wooden grain elevator on their way toward Bruce and ultimately Warden, WA.
I used a slow shutter speed to get a full 'prop circle' from the four-bladed propeller.
Billed as 'An economical 3 seat touring aeroplane', presumably for the extremely wealthy, it was not wildly successful as only 3 were built. This one survives, though.
Aircraft Transport and Travel Ltd., whose name is on the side of the plane, was the first airline to offer a regular daily international flight. It was between London and Paris, starting in 1919. The cost was £21 - equivalent to £750 today. Flight time was 2.5 hours, double today's flight time, but you didn't need to be at the airport 2 hours before departure. There was no in-flight entertainment, but you did get a hot water bottle for warmth, and you were guaranteed a window seat.
